Ex spanish counter terrorist here we worked alongside the Mexican government in the past specially bcs the CNJG has drug smuggling operations here . A lot or this pictures surface here and there all the time and they aren’t a real depiction of what the narcos are there’s several cartels and cartels are decentralized that’s why they are so hard to destroy. You can see some videos of cartel members using 50 cal barrets with no iron sights and no optics shooting at Blackhawks and shooting randomly. This videos aren’t depicting a real fight they are just tools of propaganda like the armored vehicle in the back of this image looks made out of car board and barely holding together is just to impress and show power. Civilians with no gun knowledge will get impressed and scared bcs they look almost like military to them but these are just random dudes who have no training . The CJNG has multiple cells with tons of special groups the ones in this picture are the F.E.M in this picture they look horrible in other pictures the same group looks like modern special forces . It’s complete chaos with their “special groups” There’s also the Delta group who looks like shit too. but in different areas the same groups can be really well armed and trained bcs their bosses actually invested time and money in training . You can see this with all cartels with Sinaloa Cartel or Union tepito or el cartel del golfo . Some of them are really well trained and armed and others have old military surplus mixed with modern and airsoft gear.

This is the same group from the CJNG https://elpais.com/mexico/2020-07-20/el-gobierno-defiende-su-estrategia-de-seguridad-tras-el-nuevo-desafio-del-cartel-jalisco.html?outputType=amp They had pretty good training and gear and a convoy of 20 vehicles well prepared but all it took to get them all killed and destroyed was one Blackhawk from the Mexican army and one mini gun there’s a video arround and I think not a single dude survived

I saw their original propaganda video but didn't know what happened to them later. Thank you for sharing the good news.

Theres a lot of clips with cartels using these armored trucks https://www.reddit.com/r/shittytechnicals/s/P4NLlD2t2z Maybe not legit tanks but they hold up to 50.cals also if made good it probably makes fighting less awkward and more straight forward

Oh, lol, I just realized. Homeboy on the right appears to be running a subdued American flag patch.

I always find these cartel photos so bizarre. It's the little details like that AR not having sights.. the ill fitting helmets/vests etc. Things like this give me the impression these guys aren't actually skilled/comfortable with their gear, which seems odd considering the circumstances.

If I remember correctly, the Los Zetas cartel was formed by ex military/mexican spec ops. I’d imagine THOSE guys know what they are doing. But yeah I agree with your statement. These pictures always make these guys look goofy/out of place

It's just so weird, they clearly spend tons of money on serious firepower, but it looks like they just throw guns to random dudes. If I was El Jefe, I'd bring on some vets and invest in training for everyone. You can't just throw Jesus a Browning and call it a day

That sounds like the plot of a movie. Some disgruntled navy seal starts working for the cartel training their sicarios

Well it sort of fits. There's a season where the titular protagonist (former marine) trains a bunch of Chechen mobsters for their conflict with a Bolivian org.

They usually have training officers and ex military from Mexico or corrupt police but it’s not like they value the life of their own men only a lucky few actually get training besides basics also the Narco has a lot of corruption and lack of everything money goes for weapons ends up on jewelry for the wife of the local boss and a new car… also they rarely fight the police they usually fight other narcos with the same lack of gear and training..

really? what superlative mexican military achievements are you basing that on? Shooting rioters in the streets?
View on Reddit #75644083

chumps_malone@reddit

I’m no expert, that’s just something I saw on a Cartel documentary. I’m basing that on anyone who served in the military for multiple years would most likely have better training than someone who hasn’t served

Zetas has nothing to do with CJNG different eras different groups this are just random dudes who work for the narco and aren’t any special team just random joes

they're just like ICE actually. lots of gear, lots of pride, everyone fat as fuck and uninterested in actually training.

Majority of the guys doing the fighting are skinny kids with zero training or discipline. They are very ineffective but they have a seemingly endless supply of “recruits” and they have good gear.
View on Reddit #75631633

Q-Ball7@reddit

>they have a seemingly endless supply of “recruits” and they have good gear. The cartels are *always* hiring, which is a big deal for an area with little to no economic prospects. As for the gear, you can thank the ATF for that.

> It's the little details like that AR not having sights.. the ill fitting helmets/vests etc. Things like this give me the impression these guys aren't actually skilled/comfortable with their gear, which seems odd considering the circumstances. They aren't. Every time the cartels and the police/military get into a gunfight, the police and military absolutely slaughter them. What makes the cartels so dangerous is their control of the government. Yeah, they can't take a police unit, but fuckup Gonzales and five other fatfuck cartel members can ambush a single cop at his home, restrain, torture and eventually murder him and dump his body to send a message that they know who you are and they will simply wait until you are separated to deal with you. They're nothing more than glorified gangmembers.

The guy on the right has probably fitting gear and good Fourm with the rifle. Hes probably seen a range. The no optics is weird. Maybe it’s not his default gun and he’s posing with this new rifle handed to him.

I think they run on yayo and pure bravery. Life seems to have little value to cartel folk, even their own.
