Paranoid About 5070 Ti Melting Cables

So I recently upgraded from a 6800XT to the PNY 5070Ti OC and I've been seeing way too many posts of the 12 pin connector melting cables (none of which were the 5070ti, thankfully) and seeing the 9070xt melt has me very concerned. People have been saying to use the native 12VHPWR/ 12V 2x6 cables that come with your PSU and NOT the adapter that comes with the GPU, but here's the problem:
My PSU is the SuperFlower Leadex III Gold 850W which I thought was ATX 3.1, but after looking at my receipt I'm pretty sure I got the ATX 2.52 version (I am out of town for a couple months so can't look at the actual unit to confirm). My PSU didn't come with a 12pin cable (which is also why I don't think it's the ATX 3.1 version), so I've been using the 3x8 pin adapter instead.
Will I be ok staying with this adapter or do I need to get a new PSU that's ATX 3.1? I've also heard about people getting cables from cable mod, but I'm also afraid if that one melts, I won't be able to RMA due to 3rd party cables. Would appreciate your thoughts!
Also if anyone has seen reports about 5070ti melting please let me know!
TL;DR - Will 5070ti melt adapter with ATX 2.52 PSU?

I bought a 5070 Ti last year in May and it was all working fine until I got a red light code on my motherboard. Tried to figure it out but eventually took it to a shop and after a few days the tech suggested a new PSU. I researched about newer PSU's coming with the 12vhpwr cables specifically for the new gen cards. Dropped it off and later that afternoon told me the cable melted immediately.

Almost every component in my rig got sent off for RMA but ultimately had to build a new one. Currently have a 5070 OC and I'm afraid of it happening again. So far so good.

what happened to the ti? The cable shouldn't melt with the ti because the power is lower? Was it plugged in correctly?

I can’t say for sure what exactly happened. It was in the hands of a repair shop. I got that PSU and sent it to them and not even a few hours later I got a call saying it melted. I bought one of their stock PSU’s and now everything is working fine.

Since the psu is modular you could also look into alternative cables such as the ones from cable mods. Im waiting on one myself since my psu doesnt have the 12pin. But luckily cable mod has compatible cables and seasonic even says to use their since they dont have any in stock. Ive been using that octupus adpater that came with the gpu with 3 adapters for the pcie cables for about 3 weeks now.

cablemod has melting cables as well, seen if yesterday again

Where? Id like to look. I tried to find before i bought but i didnt find much. Maybe i didnt look hard enough. So far its been working fine. I also dont push my gpu to its limits. I know how to optimize settings, i dont just put everything to EXTREME or ULTRA.

It looks like that was due to being water cooled and corrosion due the heat over time. I dont water cool my pc. But i will keep my eyes on it. Humidity is an issue where I live, in am extreme case it could have a similar effect.

Tbh, i've almost never seen ppl post about 5080/70 ti connectors melting. It's been almost all 5090 and some 9070 xt (funny enough, the nitro+ being the only 9070xt with the connector).

You only hear about melting cables because it's so rare that when it happens, it's news-worthy. It is totally fine to use the adapter, just make sure all the cables are fully seated. With a 5070Ti, you really don't have anything to worry about.

Alright, that makes me feel a lot better. Been panicking ever since seeing reports from the 9070XT, but couldn’t find anything for the 5070Ti

Your almost definitely going to be fine as long as everything is seated properly with your current PSU.

Definitely going to double check my cables once I get home!
