Racism in Japan

Hey guys, I been wanting to go to Japan for the longest but after reading many stories and seeing stuff on YouTube on how they treat foreigners in Japan, I started questioning myself. Not sure if it has to do with specific race or just any foreigners but I’m a young Caucasian male from the US. Has anybody experienced racism in Japan?

Racism is everywhere, evolution has ingrained a fear/suspicion for the unknown and unfamiliar in us and a preference for the familiar. Incidents can always happen, but if you behave 'normally' and respectful there is no reason to expect major issues.

This is the dumbest non answer I've ever heard. What's up with people who are unable to recognize the world isn't black and white and there's more than "it happens or it doesn't happen!" Obviously Japan is a seriously racist country as already explained by others in the thread.

Yeah! Just deal with systemic discrimination in housing restaraunt and everyday life instead of advocating against i! So what! Cancer? Plane crashes? Terrorist attacks? Bad stuff happens! It's outside OP's and your control to change it. Discrimination is genetically embedded as fear and caution for the strange and a preference for the familiar has always been a net positive for survival. And really, what's wrong with discrimination? Every country on earth discriminates based on nationality whether and under what conditions they allow people in. Every single person discriminates in who they deal with and in what way, who they invite into their home, who to share their bed with, etc etc. It's not a big deal, everybody discriminates, everybody experiences discrimination, it's a simple fact of life. The Japanese are autonomous, they are allowed to decide for themselves whom they let into their country and under what conditions and circumstances. Everybody else is free to go along with those conditions or to stay away.
