I'd go to a Honda dealer on release date and buy one if they brought them here, no questions asked (assuming price parity to something like a Fit or entry Civic).  Sad to know it's highly unlikely Honda would take the risk here in the US.

And why can’t we have those cool cars in America…😭

Americans are fat

lol someone reported this for "promoting hate". It might be mean but it's objectively true. It's not why we don't get these cars, though.
View on Reddit #75793498

Cozmo85@reddit

Because people don’t buy them.
View on Reddit #75549104

DZello@reddit

Or maybe because most Americans cannot fit into one anymore.
View on Reddit #75555682

KaszualKartofel@reddit

yeah that’s why the don’t buy them

I feel like the new generations who can't buy houses would buy the shit out of them.

PsychopathCashew973@reddit

everyone except for maybe a few hundred people on this forum would make fun of it and call it a poor peoples shitbox if it was sold here.

That looks much better than Honda E.

Both look amazing IMHO

Agree to disagree. I adore the Honda E style of clean lines and amazing interior.

I'd love to own this car. :)

A cool base price of $140k on that Singapore dealership link.

You never want to own car in Singapore, they really want to local people not touching car. In there, you can just use train systems for whole life, but that’s a good deal.
View on Reddit #75539207

_galaga_@reddit

Does that make it a good market for a Waymo style solution? Robotaxis that aren’t personally owned?
View on Reddit #75541686

BrunoEye@reddit

Probably not, I assume private companies have similar costs.
View on Reddit #75542456

420bIaze@reddit

Singapore is full of taxis already, robotaxis would be in more or less the same economic situation as the rest of them.

gomjabbarenthusiast@reddit

Theoretically you could have a company that parks and registers the cars in Malaysia, and then drives them in in the morning to Singapore
View on Reddit #75564842

iPoopAtChu@reddit

That's called tax evasion, it's also not much cheaper to register a car in Malaysia
View on Reddit #75627458

BrunoEye@reddit

If it was that simple, it would've been done already. Operating a business like that requires permission from the government. Ever since Uber got popular, most places now have a system for licensing cars and drivers for similar services.
View on Reddit #75565058

_galaga_@reddit

The thought was a company could recoup the fees through operating revenue in a way that individuals can't.
View on Reddit #75547399

BrunoEye@reddit

If anything, I'd suspect the fees would be higher since they'd be used so much more. The issue is traffic, with such a high population density cars simply do not work. Instead, there is a very high quality public transport system that is used by pretty much everyone.
View on Reddit #75560065

_galaga_@reddit

Ah, if the fee scaled by usage that'd be a big blocker, gotcha. Must be nice having an awesome mass transit infrastructure.

AmNoSuperSand52@reddit

People basically don’t own anything in Singapore. Even long term housing is still just a government lease
View on Reddit #75553629

JournalistExpress292@reddit

That’s why I laugh when I see Americans complain about car prices. This is a county where you can work at McDonalds and comfortably own a Ford Mustang
View on Reddit #75557274

Rashkh@reddit

The highest paid Mcdonalds workers in the US are in NY and Washington DC making about $31k after taxes. What new v8 sports car can they afford, exactly?
View on Reddit #75574185

mach1alfa@reddit

they didnt say new?
View on Reddit #75613816

MadMike32@reddit

Aside from the fact that your claim is bullshit, you can get around Singapore via public transportation just fine.  Good luck doing that in most of the US.
View on Reddit #75589446

Bamboozled74@reddit

I work around 25km from my home in Singapore. It takes me 30 minutes to commute by car, or 1 hour and 45 minutes by bus and MRT (subway equivalent). So no, public transportation isn't "just fine" for everyone. I don't even stay that far out of the way. I stay in the literal center of the country. Imagine if you lived on the opposite side of the island to where you worked.

For anyone who doesnt know, every car on Singapore is heavily taxed

Keep in mind a Toyota Corolla is like $211k in SG: https://graphics.businesstimes.com.sg/bt_files/specials/2024/why-a-toyota-costs-200000-in-singapore/index.html
View on Reddit #75563132

NoHaxPlz@reddit

For reference this is about the price of any B segment car like Honda Fits, or compact SUV types like the Yaris Cross and all sorts of entry level SUVs. It will actually undercut some Chinese EVs as well.

I went to the motor show yesterday and am seriously considering switching to this once my GTI's COE expires. We'll see how this launch goes, but this looks real promising
View on Reddit #75569287

tanahgao@reddit

Go test drive the MG4 hatchback too. It's one of the quickest Cat A cars, and better handling ones with RWD. Also a lot cheaper than the super one. I just bought one a few months back 😁
View on Reddit #75581608

Bamboozled74@reddit

My father runs them as company cars. They're alright but aren't as nimble as the GTI. I was hoping the Honda would be different given it weighs a little over a tonne.
View on Reddit #75593976

tanahgao@reddit

Change their tyres and you will feel a huge difference. The stock Bridgestones turanzas can't compare to the GTI's PS4. I'm running Conti MC7 on mine, and its honestly quite incredible (in comparison to Audi A3 - my previous car, and Civic RS EHEV which I drove in Thailand)
View on Reddit #75622591

Yep, saw it yesterday at the Motorshow. Was quite surprised that it was a world premiere as I thought it was just a showing of a pre-production prototype. Extremely cute car.

Speaking from a purely UK market perspective (maybe other countries are different?), but genuinely who is in the market for an tiny, electric, "hot" hatch kei car, that is probably going to be expensive af because its a niche product in the first place Like, it's cool, don't get me wrong. But who is buying this??
View on Reddit #75538580

Jimny proves that people liking Kei size fun car although Jimny one is off-roader.
