Turkey trip Aug 2026, itinerary ideas and suggestions for two weeks

Hey all, planning a Turkey trip late July to mid August 2026, around two weeks total, and would love feedback from people who’ve been.
I’m arriving in Istanbul and definitely visiting Cappadocia for hot air balloon rides and valley walks. Everything else is flexible and I’m open to considering time in and around Istanbul, areas around Cappadocia, and possibly the Antalya coast depending on what makes the most sense in August.
Main interests are scenery, food, walking neighborhoods, swimming, boat days, and outdoor experiences rather than museums or heavy history. Planning to spend a few solid days in Cappadocia since it’s a big priority for me as a first timer.
I’m very open to adjusting pacing, bases, or even dropping or adding places. Would love input on must-see, don’t-miss experiences, best regions to pair with Cappadocia in summer, common mistakes people make with this route, and things you’re really glad you did or skipped.
Any advice is appreciated, even high-level suggestions. Thanks!

Looks solid. 3â4 days Cappadocia is perfect. For budget, book flights early + skip pricey tours. Some compare DIY vs memphis tours itineraries to see whatâs worth paying for.

I am from Antalya region and every summer, I always visit these places:
1- Kaputaş Beach
2- Patara sand dunes
3- Ölüdeniz
They are not close to each other but you can spread couple of days to each of these places.

Thanks we are skipping Antalya at this time, please see above updated post. Only focusing on Istanbul and Cappadocia.

Perfect, that make sense.
I studied my university in Istanbul for 4 years.
As you might already know;
1- Aware of taxi scammers (user uber app or bitaksi. So you can pay through the app by seeing the price beforehand) 2- Nothing in grand bazaar is good quality but the vibe and if you are interested, spices etc is nice.
Suggestions: 1- Go to GalataPort. It is basically shopping mall but next to the see. Restaurants are nice chain restaurants and have fix prices. You will not be scammed :d 2-Around GalataPort, there are some small streets where you can drink coffee, have some old - town vibe 3- You can rent a yacht to just hangout under the bridges which connects asia and europe :) Last year, it costed around 8K tl (around 150eur) for two hours. You can bring your own alcohol/food. They will just drive you between bridges with the whole Istanbul view. (Private yacht tour - you can tell them wherever you want them to drive and play your music) 4- Go to Islands (heybeli island as an example) you can rent a bike and see the Island. It s really nice. Ferries might be crowded though
For food, unfortunately I was broke when i was in Uni. So, I don’t have much experience about restaurants 🥲
