The 'workforce" is the work you get done while you wait for them to pick up, then your pension is what you collect by the time they answer. It's actually really efficient

I have SEN kids and spend half my life waiting to get through to departments and doctors. I start the call, then carry on with housework 🤣 Its strangely motivating. Although you do find yourself humming the hold music for the rest of the day..

Have breakfast, watch TV or browse the net whilst on the line for doctor. And we all know whas that like in UK. Call at 7.58 machine says "Call at 8am." Call at 8am, wait an hour only for there to be no appointment. Usually at 9am I call NHS lie "I rang at 8am but they were booked" then they send to another doctor in the day.

A few (very) years ago I got the new Doom game for the PlayStation. I washed clothes, folded and put them away. Then I cleaned the bathroom, then living room then the kitchen. I then organised my books. Then the DVD then the only thing left was to clean and tidy the kitchen cupboards. The download was 8 hours and I had shite internet then but I really really wanted to play Doom as I remembered it from the 90’s. Soo worth the wait 😃😃😃
