Coated Rotors that actually don't suck ?

15 years ago Centric used to sell fantastic rotors with a quality coating. About 5 years ago I got a set from them (off RockAuto) and they were just painted. I tried a different brand with the silver coating, and still not great.
Does anyone make coated rotors that don't rust after a few months?
I'm not even driving in salt or snow, it's just for my weekend toy cars that I want to look decent.

I’ve had Powerstop coated rotors for about year and after 1.5 winters so far with lots of salt, I have no corrosion. I’d definitely go with these again

Was it semi coated or fully coated?

Fully coated

Same. Powerstop pads and rotors on a 2011 outback. Sold the car in 2023 and had no rust on the rotors. Probably about 5 years and 50K miles on them (138K on the car). I'm in the northeast and definitely was exposed to salted roads. They held up really well. Hope the current ones are just as good.

You're talking about the center hat? You can spend 5 minutes with a rattle can and paint them

And then it'll rust in a month. I tired that.
Centric used to do some "e coat" thing and they wouldn't rust for years.
The paint ones rust in a month.

It won't rust in a month though... It's painted. I have painted center hats numerous times.

No disrespect... But thanks for telling me what won't happen to my car after it already happened?
jrileyy229@reddit
Out of curiosity, I googled it. Centric doesn't paint them, just an e- coating that is really just for shipping/storage... So yeah, I'm sure it comes off.
Did you remove that coating and then scuff/Sand and paint the hat with a high temp ceramic paint?

Are you using calliper paint? Also rotors do need to be degreased before paint
malykaii@reddit (OP)
Yes to both and it legit didn't help.
Brand new blank rotors on the rear of my Lexus. Cleaned, painted with high heat caliper paint.
Looks like crap.

Raybestos Element 3s have been good.

Second vote for Zimmerman. I put their z coat on my car that sees a lot of salt and they hold up for years. Good rotors.

Installed a Powerstop a Z23 pad and rotor kit on the spousal unit's ride about 6 months and 5kmi ago. No rust so far.

I'll check that out. I've seen their pads on rockauto.

Also had good experiences with PowerStop

Zimmerman is the OEM for a lot of the German car rotors and their self branded coated rotors do have a good coating on them still. Most recently bought a set in June 2024 and have about 10k miles on them since and the coating is still as it should be.

Thank you!
