Iirc the explanation is even funnier. The YEET scream he did while spinning is[a lore thing](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Force_scream) that exists in both EU and still in canon, where you basically Dark Side screech at someone and cause them to get disoriented. [It's funnier rewatching the scene](https://youtu.be/QIYVMwi-cVE?si=LQJHq4d0WHCv4qMM) too. Of course, we all know the real reason is because Lucas is silly and cut what should've been a cool and epic lightsaber duel because he's Lucas - but hey at least the series tries to justify this movie oversight with a reason. The film does the Jedi Masters no justice for how cracked they're supposed to be in lore ( especially in the EU books. Kit Fisto has quite a few books I remember seeing him in, and Mace Windu is just cracked, especially if you read Shatterpoint )

The movie seems like they did them dirty, but it was stated that due to the technology at the time they couldn't do what they wanted in this scene. They wanted Sidious to move faster, but it looked like shit in post-production, so they had to just explain that,"...Sidious is moving hyper fast and Mace only stands a chance due to his shatterpoint ability."

I don't think that makes them weak, it just highlights that Mace was a level above everyone else. Though that isn't made particularly clear in the film, but a quick scene where he introduced anakin to some of the most famous members of the order wouldn't have made sense either. Arguably there needed to be a film between II and III, but that's presumably why we have the clone wars series

Also also, windus fighting style amps him up the longer hes exposed to the dark side. His weakest moment in a fight is right at the start. The moment he begins trading blows and feeling the dark side it channels into strength for him. This is why Palpatine couldn't beat him. The moment they crossed sabers and windu was still kicking, the fight was already becoming a loss. Thats why he manipulated anakin the way he did. The fighting style is called Vaapad iirc and is banned from use by anyone not trained in its use by Windu due to how dangerous it is. Its also why his lightsaber is purple (even though the real reason is Samuel L Jackson just wanted a purple lightsaber lol).

Nah I totally agree star wars movies absolutely suck. They explained it all afterwards. But everything besides the movies is ok or pretty good. The clone wars tv show was very solid especially after the first season when they got a multi season deal and could focus on the story long term. One of my favorite episodes isnt even about jedi, but just a squad of rookie clones defending an outpost.

The novelization both makes them less stupid and Palpatine more awesome with the explanation that he basically hit them with a mental DDOS attack. That Mace had a technique that could have won if Anakin didn’t cut off his arm. Also Anakin found Kit Fisto’s (Tentacle Head guy) smiling severed head on Palpatine’s desk. Palpatine would later show edited/staged security footage to quell any Jedi sympathizers.
