He was recently caught and charged as a pedophile on other charges while working in the eastern pa area.Then there was a male staff member kinda like a security person that was caught trying to get with students. Finally a female Spanish teacher had children with a student and it came out 30 years later. We also made national news bc the cheerleader put laxatives in the brownies they gave to an opposing team at a home game. I graduated in 2001, and all this happened in central NJ.
My high school mascot was the devil. Every few years the Christians will pop up and demand a name change. I happend to be going to the school during one of their "we give a shit" moments.
Students from our school showed up for a home football game drunk (45 years ago) I'm 63. Yelling, swearing at people and teachers the offending students were expelled! Done.
Student theft ring at the local Walmart: a couple of students worked there as cashier's and were changing barcodes on high-price items for their friends who were then selling them for cash out of the back of their cars.
This happened at the Walmart my brother worked at in high school. Most of the kids who got caught went to the neighboring high school, though. It became a big news story in Atlanta.
Haha, yeah. My brother worked at that Walmart at the time, but went to another high school. Ironically, it was a couple of fellow employees from his high school who got busted doing the same thing for small value items (CDs, etc.) first, which clued in management to watch the employees closer, and that’s when they discovered the Chattahoochee kids doing it too, but on a bigger scale.
The Chattahoochee kids didn't even need the money. I remember the kids that got busted all being fairly well off, but it's been a while and I could be wrong.
My freshman year, some AV Club members stole keys to the school. They came back at night to trash the Channel 1 receiver. Rumor had it they also pissed on the principal's office chair.
The year after I graduated, people's instruments started disappearing from the band room. A janitor was fired with no real proof to appease the backlash. Turns out it was the choral instructor who was pawning them for drug money. The school never made any restitution to the students, and never apologized to the janitor.
My school band director was running the stolen instrument gimmick too. Apparently he was getting away with it for years because he would only steal the school-owned instruments, and he would not report them missing. He finally got caught because he accidentally stole a kid’s instrument that was being stored at the school and pawned it. The parents got the police involved and it didn’t take long for the police to track him down through the pawn shop he sold to.
One guy who graduated and a guy who was a sophomore were friends. The guy who graduated was messing around with an older lady that was married to some other guy. The lady hired the two guys to kill her husband. They did the deed. Pretty crazy.
School administrators hanging out on the roof with binoculars and telescopes trying to catch kids sneaking away to skip school. Our school had a large footprint with areas of woods and other obstacles. Some kids would wear camouflage to school to attempt the challenge.
Teacher got fired for going out to his car during breaks and drinking alcohol, student left campus for lunch and got stabbed, and one morning a kid beat up his sister then called over his friend and spent most of school day assaulting the girl.

Also glad that my personal “scandals” were not recorded and posted to social media to live in perpetuity.
That second part….. I am so grateful we didn’t record and share evidence of our stupidity and possibly criminal doings back then (or now). I cringe for the youth of today. Never being able to get away from whatever dumb thing they have sprawled on the internet.
And they're new to this Earth. So they don't know to ignore that impulse of "hey let's film this - ( thing that will totally come back to bite us in the ass in the near future!)" They are completely ignorant to the fact that we have all been down that road and know what we're talking about.
Yeah, we allegedly had a guy get upset at the Assistant Principal, so he drove to the AP’s house and did donuts on the front lawn with his car, which got him expelled. (Or so i heard; but he was regularly in trouble, was known to hate the AP, and suddenly stopped showing up to school one day and never came back.)
The BBall coach got caught filming students having sex at his house. He liked to let kids come there to keep them from drinking and driving (so he said). Started with a girl running out of his house naked and ended up being seen by the cops. When they investigated, the videos were found. Mostly the basketball team and random hookups. Got canned and went to jail. This is a small town and everyone was shocked.
The huge bronze Viking statue in the front of our school was stolen. Made the news, papers, all that. Eventually they found it by the river, and cameras went up on every corner in and out of the school shortly thereafter. But with the sheer mass of that thing, I still don’t understand how it was done without being seen. The school sits on a highly traveled intersection.
My art teacher had relations with one of the guys in my class. I forgot how they got caught. I think the kid's mom pieced things together. Teacher was fired and jailed, of course. I think the kid had to change schools. I'm sure it hit the local news, but I'm not gonna look it up. To add to the strangeness, she was middle aged, haggard looking, and smelled bad. We all hated her because she was a bitch. So I have no clue why anyone, especially a teen with options of girls his own age, would want her, much less repeatedly. Ugh. Hormones, I guess? I hope she still has to register as a predator.

Not really a scandal but weird timing a girl in my class got pregnant the summer between her 7th and 8th grade year, subsequently her daughter was in kindergarten when her mom was a senior in the same school district...
Not scandalous but funny. A classmates dad went on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, so naturally the whole school watched this man go out on the 16k question which was "which of these cereals doesn't have a cartoon mascot? " the answer was Grapenuts but he "didn't eat cereal" and took his money. We laughed about the grape nuts kids for awhile.
This reminds me of my school. Our band director’s son was a recent alumnus of our school and had moved to New York to be an actor. He got a gig on Law and Order as the villain for the episode and the band director was very proud and saying everyone should watch.
The son’s role was a guy with AIDS who went around intentionally spreading the disease and I think his only line on the show was “Come on baby, bareback’s better.” That line got a lot of replay in band class for a couple weeks after it aired.
The principal got drunk and naked and stole a riding mower.
This was in the middle of the night and he kept his job for several more years. Other than that he was actually a pretty decent guy.

Ok so there were those twin sisters. They were crack babies who grew up in foster care. Well one sister got married. Husband cheated with twin. Decided to leave wife. Wife says she will skill herself. He stays. Twin freaks out in the same manner. They decided to share him. It escalated to full on thruple. Then the sisters started, ya know, without him. They told me about this shit and I immediately call Jerry Springer. Get a call back and they get booked on the show. The one I went to school with came to school with a whole ass scrapbook of their trip for the show. No shame. Until the day it actually aired. We never saw or heard from either one of them again after the show aired.
This is how I know that not all the stories were fake on the Jerry springer show.
Ours wasnt a legend, us kids found the pics and passed it around the school. Parents found out, got the teacher sacked and the whole school body, teachers and kids refused to go back to the school till she was reinstated.
Band director got fired for fucking one of the kids. Rest of the band picketed to get him reinstated, which only makes me wonder how many of *them* he was fucking.

I always expected to see a coach involved in something, but at my school it was the band directors. We had one who was fired for drug possession and I think he was also having sex with at least one of the girls band students. Ag Science/ FFA teacher got a student pregnant. Allegedly, wasn’t the first student. His wife worked in the office, she apparently was embezzling quite a bit of money from the district. It all went down when the girl told the wife she was pregnant. The wife freaked out, made a huge scene during a school day. Story goes, she threatened to call the cops on her husband he reported her for the embezzlement, ended up both going down.
I always used to think our superintendent was a pedo, because he was creepy as hell. Turns out he was just embezzled a few million, and it was one of the *English teachers* that was the pedo. Nobody got knocked up, though.
I also recall a female gym teacher that wasn't allowed in the girls locker room, but I strongly suspect that was just a discrimination thing.
It was the band director at my HS. It also turned out he'd been doing that to different girls over multiple years, one of whom killed herself. Then it came out that he had done the same thing at a school in another state. It became a decent sized scandal. Even had a story on it on 20/20 (or one of those news shows, can't remember which one).
It was in Southern MO. And guess what? It wasn’t lol. They like to keep “non family friendly” things under tight wraps so it doesn’t impact the image of the area.
Private school kid here. When I was in 8th grade, we got 2 new girls in my class because they were kicked out of their religious (not Catholic)school for smoking pot. Their former school apparently said to their parents “we won’t tell the new school if you won’t” but the girls both talked, so parents & administration at my school knew about it fairly fast. One of the girls went back to the first school the next year. The other stayed with us. I of course had liked the girl who returned to the first school better, but in adulthood I’m friends with the one who stayed. Had I not been such a snob about morality back then, I think she would have been a good person to get to know well, as she is intelligent and has a great sarcastic sense of humor.

We usually had one per class. In my class it was the only Jewish girl in the class, *and* she got an abortion. It was one of those things that the faculty didn't discuss openly, but everyone knew was a big deal.
LoL, I got pregnant in high school, and I was one of only three whose pregnancies during my whole four years there. It was a completely secular school in the DC suburbs.
The other two girls stopped going to that school, and I found out why - the administration *strenuously* tried to get me to voluntarily switch to an “alternative” high school. My guidance counselor actually drove me to this place during school hours to try to convince me I’d be happier there. I did not agree, and neither did my parents, so they had to put up with me going through most of the year pregnant. My teachers and the students were cool about it; only the administration was scandalized.
My son was good enough to be born three weeks early, which got me out of final exams.
Less than some schools but again: Catholic HS. They almost weren’t allowed to walk at graduation. That school is even more strict than when I was there.
Also a Catholic school survivor and we always joked that girls at our H.S. didn't get pregnant, they just disappeared. The pressure from admin to withdraw was fierce.
A friends older sister got pregnant while in a Lutheran high school. They called the whole school to the auditorium and tried to force her to apologize (I guess to everyone??) for being pregnant. She refused and was expelled

I went to Catholic school too and we had two girls that had kids while in school. I believe both happened in the 11th grade. All the classes ahead of us had at least one pregnant girl too.
I was one of the scandals. I was the weird kid that everyone bullied, even teachers, even the principal... Welp, it all came to a head in one of the last couple years (well, for the "normal" kids, they wanted to keep me an extra year because they'd assumed I was uh, "slow" because I have a learning disability that makes it hard for me to write by hand). I'd gotten into a physical fight with one of the teacher's children and wasn't allowed in the school during lunch hours anymore. It was the last straw for me and I dropped out. I found out a couple years later that somebody'd started a rumor about me that I'd had a physical relationship with the guy I got in a fight with in such a way that it made me look like a loser... I hope they all assume me dead. I'd prefer it that way. And no, I'm not who you think I might be. My info stays a mystery.

Did some jail time for embezzlement years later, to boot.
There's being drunk, and then there's being obvious about it. All the teachers knew most kids were drunk, but they only stepped in if someone's dumbass behavior made them.
If you refuse to run for an office somebody else will. In a lot of places right now, it’s only the worst people who are willing to run for office or work in the public sector. Decisions are made by those who show up. This is who is showing up.
I’ll say at least anecdotally, our local school board had a good candidate and a bad candidate run, and because the bad candidate was the loudest and parroted the talking points of everyone’s favorite Faux News Network, the dumbest people showed up at the polls and voted her in. Luckily, it became clear quickly that she was incompetent and had no business being on the BoE and was removed and replaced by a boring, qualified person.

In some cases that's true but there are good people running for school boards. The problem lies in the voting. The people who are motivated to vote in these elections are better at rallying around the cause and often the good side either has votes that get split among candidates or lower interest in the voting populace. It's a sad situation. Listen to the podcast Southlake for some good insight on the beginnings of the whole reinvigoration of school board elections.

That was common practice at my school, didn't matter what sport you were in, if you were good at it, some of those tests either filled themselves out, or they got postponed till after the big game.

Surprisingly no. It was in the late 90s and the subject of a news report by the now defunct Tampa Tribune. Considering we had a history of actual mobsters running schools (see the Trafficante family) this was small time.
My son was in high school in West Virginia. The prom queen and king were dating first cousins to set the scene. The principal's husband was the gym teacher. He was screwing half the staff in the school, but got caught with the guidance counselor in a classroom having sex. The fallout spilled out into the hallways, and the principal was screaming and crying at the gym teacher (including slapping him repeatedly). In the end, the guidance counselor was fired, and the gym teacher was not. Last I heard they are still together and he is still screwing half the school.

My very young high school science/math teacher (maybe 23) got a senior pregnant. He quit before the 'scandel' and about 15 years later, when my kids entered high school, I saw that he was back teaching high school science/math with no repercussions. This was in the late 80s/early 90s.
My senior year, a girl lit the theater curtains in the auditorium on fire which spread and burned most of the auditorium. This was a few days before the Columbine shootings. I think one of the English teachers came to school drunk a few too many times too.

I knew a case of this too, and they are still married 20 years later. He was a youth religious leader because of course he was. And his brother got busted for having sex with minors (in multiple school districts) and threatening their grades and went to prison. Also a Jesus freak.
That happened in my high school years after I had graduated and when I was a university student getting ready to graduate. I was at my parents' house taking classes at a community college and working and I read about it in the newspaper.

Our town hired a 26 year old cop to pretend to be a student and infiltrate the stoner cliques to narc on them. The goal was to root out the source of a heroin issue.
The only problem was that nobody liked him and he couldn’t get anyone to hang out with him. After a full of going to school every day, his work culminated in exactly 1 ticket for marijuana possession.

It was like 1996 maybe and our baseball team hired strippers while at an away game. It made national news. At the time it seemed like a huge deal. I mean the coaches and parents were at the hotel and just strippers, wow. Now that I'm grown up I realize it wasn't that big a deal. But I guess some of them lost scholarships so that sucked.
I went to the high school where the kid got suspended for wearing a Pepsi shirt on Coke day and he was a celebrity for like a week. I think his name was Mike, but I knew his sister better as we did theatre together.
A guy was driving with his girlfriend. They got t-boned by a car pulling out into a busy street. She ended up in a coma. Rumor was the guys were playing a game, seeing how close they could cut people off. She just died on life support a couple years ago. They kept her on it for like 25 years...
I thought it was crazy. They posted her obituary in the 1999 fb reunion group a couple years ago. I thought for sure they would have pulled the plug before I was out of college. That's so sad.
The folclórico teacher at my school was rumored to have banged all the cute, fit guys in her classes, earning her the nickname "la profe colágeno" ("the collagen teacher" – collagen being slag for the seed a younger gives cougars or mastodons). All were too busy high-fiving one another to realize the gravity of the situation. Apparently, female predation of minors was not really acknowledged as a problem back in the day.
A chemistry teacher knocked up a fifteen year old student, who refused to press any charges. Her parents apparently let it slide because she moved in with him. I don't know what became of those individuals.

Only two that I personally knew off was a girl getting caught blowing a guy in the bathroom during lunch and a friend of mine disappearing from school one day in junior year only to find out she had gotten pregnant and her parents put her in an alternative school or something. Last day of school (in the late 70s when streaking was a fad) two Junior guys come roaring into the quad on motorcycles wearing nothing but ski masks. The made their escape and were never identified despite the administration’s extensive investigation. A lot of us knew who they were but nobody ratted them out. They lived out their Senior year in quiet glory.

Actually as I think about it more...this was decades ago...there were probably just the 4 girls but 5 robberies so I think locally some people called it the Kingwood 5 at some point and that just stuck in my mind. For sure. Kingwood is a McMansion "Livable Forrest" 1980's preplanned community that structured the community so that only people making a specific income or higher could afford to live there. Originally it was it's own township. Also in the 90's Houston annexed them. HUGE legal battle.
I would say it's a small world but in all actuality my graduating class was like 1000. I knew one of the girls well because she was in my youth group and she was in some AP classes with me. It was totally bizarre but not surprising to me. During that year I worked at a grocery store with same said AP student. And the same girls came into the store and took a couple hundred dollars worth of make up and products to her register and she "fake" rang them up and handed them the bags and they got caught one day and I had to sit in on the whole thing because they were all female, the manager on duty was male and I was the only available female associate. It was awkward as hell. I remember them crying and asking me not to tell anyone. I didn't. Until now when it now longer matters.
Had a star football player have a mental break after graduating and not amounting to anything, break into the school and trash the place. Cops found him naked and crying. Sad. He was a good dude.

• Two guys in my class robbed the gas station across from the HS using panty hose and BB guns. They made out with like $150 and they shot the cashier in the face. They went down for it eventually.
• The assistant principal at the HS was co-owner of a nearby tavern. He’d go there for lunch. Allegedly kept a bottle of Jack in his desk at the school.
• An art teacher who allegedly banged one student each year from the ‘80s-‘10s. She died recently RIP.
• A girl in my sister’s class had her 2-yr old daughter stolen by a friend of her husband’s. He likely >!raped her before she died<!. >!Her corpse was found by the river<!. Everyone at the County Jail had it out for him.
• Senior year, a classmate drove head on into another car because the driver was texting. The other driver died. He was the older brother of the new kid in class who had just dropped him off.
• After graduation, a girl in my class was a wrestling coach or something. She got caught exchanging dirty texts with a freshman or something.

• A classmate from 2nd-12th grade was always an asshole. His dad was a cop who lost his job for exchanging sexual favors to drop tickets. His dad then ran the horse barn and my classmate skipped out in charges of >!wagging his penis!< at prepubescent girls. Skip a decade or more and the classmate finally gets arrested for >!sexually assaulting!< his wife’s daughter and her friends.

Girl ran away from home, was a found a few weeks later working as a prostitute two towns over. Sadly, she was not treated well upon her return; many people called her a whore or a slut. Looking back now, I realize she was just a child who was majorly taken advantage of. I have no idea what happened to her, but I think about her from time to time and hope she's doing well.
She could have been or it could have been like the woman I wrote abput above. Hard drugs are very common here in the Northeast and we have had open air drug markets where it is basically tolerated or decriminalized to buy, use, sell soft and hard drugs, be a prostitute or do any type of sex work etc. in these certain areas or locations in cities or towns. It has been this way since the 1950s and for certain in the very early 1960s.
People use the word trafficked way too often. She was abducted and forced to perform prostitution only 2 towns away?! She could walk home. Prostitution is the worlds oldest profession, and not every woman is forced into it. Almost have an absolutely terrible upbringing but the arent “trafficked”. I had a friend in college that was an escort, on her own free will because the money was good
My friend's older sister did this multiple times and was a prostitute and stripper, poly drug addict, etc. She is bipolar and possibly schizophrenic, started using heroin first injecting it when she was 12 which I believe, had sex with a classmate at 12 that she seduced, etc. She shared needles for decades, had lots of unsafe sex, and somehow did not get HIV or Hepatitis C. She might have both now. She once told me that clean needle exchanges and safe injection sites are useless since the hard drugs take over your life and getting them and using them is the #1 priority and you will share needles, have unsafe sex, steal, etc. to get drugs and stay high. She has taken so many drugs in combinations that would easily kill anyone.
Their parents knew this was happening and got her help taking her to psychiatrists, doctors, therapists, etc. Called the police, etc. She came from a "normal" stable loving family and middle class home. She loves to blame everyone else for her problems when ultimately she is responsible for them.
Once she became a late teen and adult her family all set boundaries and had bent over backwards to help her which she rejected completely. When she got arrested they refused to bail her out and said "You are an adult and you got arrested, this is a lesson." She did tell me how it worked as she never wanted to go to jail ever again and she did get forced withdrawal, got sober time, got away from dealers and addicts/users, got on meds, and greatly improved her life for about 5 years and then self sabotaged herself stopped meds, started using pot and oxy again, etc.
She will go into psychosis when she is not on meds, gets very violent and would steal from her family and attack them etc. Or she will be so out of it she just sleeps for half a year or a year and cannot function. Everyone is estranged from her even her juvenile and adult children that she abandoned, neglected, and abused. I feel very bad for her and she does have a good and loving side and when she was on meds and sober once realized and said "Yeah I really did mess up my life with drugs, sex, etc. I am going to be better for my kids and myself." but sadly relapsed and got worse and worse with the drugs, sex work, cheating, abuse, etc. She is now homeless by her choice, not on meds, and still using drugs.

Granite Hills High School just outside San Diego in 2001. There had been a deadly school shooting just a couple of weeks before the shooting at our high school at a nearby high school. The gunmans name was Jason Hoffman. He showed up just after lunch ended and started shooting people in the hallway with a shotgun. We were lucky to have an armed school resource officer on campus. The officer responded to the shooting immediately and shot the guy. We were lucky no died. The gunman committed suicide while he was in jail awaiting trial. The rumor was he was out to kill one of the school administrators because he was rejected from the military due to a bad review from the school for his prior behavior.
Went to a small private school, only 140 kids in HS. One year 23 of them were expelled in 1 week after the school found out they were all doing drugs and 1 of them was dealing. I don't remember what drug it was specifically, something in pill form because a few got caught rushing to flush them just to find another teacher guarding the bathroom. I think the dealer got charged, but the school kept the rest of it quiet and only expelled them.
We had a guy bring what he THOUGHT was an inert mortar round to school. Kids tossed it back and forth all day until one of them dropped it in the band room during 6th period. Blew up 12 kids. No fatalities, but THAT was a messed up day. Not sure if it’s scandalous, but I always thought the teachers should have been more concerned about explosive ordinance in school.
There was a girl who dropped out and had a baby when we were in 9th grade, so about 1996-97. The real scandal was that she didn't know who the father was so she took both potential baby-daddies on The Montel Williams Show for paternity testing. It was a shitshow because it turned out that the guy whose family had been giving her money for baby expenses was NOT the father, so that led to a lawsuit for his family to recoup that money. There was a picture of one of the popular girls at school flashing her boobs that was shared via a 3.5" floppy disk that was passed from person to person. It eventually got uploaded somewhere and was just emailed around school.
The same girl was also rumored to be sleeping with a teacher but nothing ever came to fruition with that.
The picture in question was at a large event so I thin it was just her living her best life. She never seemed to be bothered by the picture floating around, at least she never let on that she was.
I feel like even if she was bothered by it, not letting on that she was might have been the best strategy she felt she had available to deal with it. It’s absolutely distribution of child pornography if she was under the age of 18 when the image was taken, but I can understand that she might have been worried about getting into trouble herself if she reported it.

Oh, I would have been mortified, but I also would have reported it. I know I would have been told off at home for being stupid enough to flash my tits where someone had a camera out, but my mum would have been gunning for someone to go down for distributing it. She was the office manager for a legal firm for most of my childhood and well into my teen years. She stopped working when she developed RSI and her boss retired and closed his practice, but she was pretty well connected with the other legal firms in town and would have known the best person to go to for advice/assistance.
In this day and age, I’m pretty sure that an incident like that would result in the school executive calling the police. Then again, I’m in Australia and kids are generally told in around in around Year 7 or 8 (which are the first two years of high school here) that sending/distributing images with partial or full nudity is considered child pornography.
I know that when I was teaching, I had several conversations come up with students where I reinforced that message and told them to a) not forward anything like that to others, and b) report it if they received those kinds of images. I’d also explain that if it comes out later that they’ve sent or forwarded images, it could result in them getting a conviction/record that would stop them from being able to work in a wide range of fields and heavily restrict/outright stop them from being able to travel internationally.

Sorry, it wasn’t meant to come across like that at all. I was just sharing my experiences of working in a school more recently and what the likely outcome would be of a similar incident occurring these days in my corner of the world. I’d like to hope that it would be a similar response where you are, but I don’t know enough of the systems there to know that it would.
We had a pretty widely reported Royal Commisssion into institutional responses to child abuse that occurred between 2013 and 2017, and that has affected the policies and procedures of many institutions and organisations, including schools.
Cheerleaders (named GoldDusters) were at a competition in Disney World. Shoplifted, got caught, sent home. Were called Gold diggers the rest of my senior year.
My senior year our choir went to Disney World for a competition. The very first night there, one of the guys got caught shoplifting T shirts and got sent home.
My high school was absolute garbage. I can’t use too much to identify it, so a teacher was sleeping with a baketball player who later was drafted into the nba, we had multiple fights every day the entire time I attended, there was a girl SA in a bathroom, gang members hitting a rival gang member with their car in the parking lot, a student beat up one of the principals and broke their leg, two girls (one was pregnant) got into a fight, and the one that was pregnant was beaten so severely she ended up hospitalized, because the other girl had brass knuckles. There is probably more. I couldn’t wait to escape.
There was a rumor the religion teacher was 'into" little boys but it turns out he was slandered because he was a little weird. The priest DID end up leaving the priesthood under a cloud of suspicion but that was later.
Our football coach used to regularly throw chairs and desks in his history class. Not a scandal, just normal.

I didn't go to any Catholic or private school but a public one. We had basically out bisexual and gay teachers. My history teacher in Jr high, she loved womyn's golf and lived with my high school biology teacher. Everyone knew they are lesbian.
We had a football coach tie a kids shoelaces together when he fell asleep in class the blow his whistle in the kids ear to watch him shoot up and faceplant. The coach ended up being a state legislator for like 20 years after that.
Was it generally accepted that he was Coach first and a teacher as a secondary task? That's how the coaches of the high profile sports were in my school. People called them "coach" during class and the jocks got less homework when there was a big game. Did us theater kids ever get less homework during show week? Of course not!
Ha, yes, Catholic football school so the "state champs" were basically given a pass at all times and the coach just phoned in his history classes. Except when he was throwing things.
I had my director for class during three show weeks. He straight up told me that if I turned even one assignment in late or got less than an A (earned A not given) I was out of the cast. But he was also my study hall teacher and let me sleep during show weeks. I adored him and worked super hard for him, both in class and on stage.
I had a history teacher who threw desks and had tantrums. And it was one of my favorite classes because if the teacher likes you, it was a fun class. If the teacher didn’t like you… things got thrown and then you got sent to the principal - who did nothing but sigh and have you sit there until class was over because They Knew.
A little after my time, but the principal cancelled prom, because he thought students were dancing in ways that were too sexually suggestive. He referred to it as "freak dancing." This story made the national news, with MTV saying they were going to hold a prom for the school and televise it. Principal reinstated prom after that, telling MTV to fuck off, basically.
There was a bomb threat. Propane tanks with tubes attached. The whole school hung out in the gym for the day. As the town didn’t have any police so cops came in from neighbouring towns. My hometown was one of them. While my town was empty of police the bank was robbed. The robbers got away on bicycles. I have never heard of they got caught.
Was your town small enough that people had a pretty good idea of who may have robbed the bank?
My school canteen block, which also incorporated the toilets and the Industrial Arts storage shed got burnt down the day before we were due to go back to school when I was in Year 8. The rumour going around was that whoever did it thought the whole school would blow up once the fire hit the gas lines. This was in the era when it was common for schools to have gas heaters in the classrooms in my state (NSW, Australia). If the rumour was true, they obviously didn’t know that fires specifically need oxygen to burn, and there’s no oxygen in natural gas lines.
If there was anyone who knew who was responsible for the fire, they weren’t talking. It was never found out who did it. We ended up with an extra week off school, then had a demountable canteen and toilet block shipped in for the year while the remains of the original canteen block were removed and a new one built. I found out later on that the Year 12 Timber class had their major work projects stored in the Industral Arts storage shed, and they were all destroyed in the fire.
Year 11 courses are only 3 terms here (late Jan - mid-to-late September), and Year 12 courses start in Term 4 (early October - mid December) of the year students are in Year 11 and finish at the end of Term 3 of their Year 12 year. Higher School Certificate (HSC) exams happen during the first half of Term 4. Any subjects with major work projects get assessed by external assessors towards the end of Term 3, so the Year 12 Timber class had already started work on their major work projects in Term 4 of the previous school year. The school applied for special provisions for all the affected students, and they were obviously granted, but it’s still a pretty devestating thing to have happen.

We’re Australian, but she did a year of student exchange in Canada. Apparently, there was a girl at the school she went to over there who didn’t know she was pregnant and went to the toilet thinking she needed to shit, but ended up giving birth instead. From what I remember my friend telling me, the baby was put up for adoption and the girl was back at school a week or two later. She apparently asked one of her school friends over there if he’d heard about the girl who had a baby in the toilet during the phase when the whole school was talking about it, and his response was “Yeah, she’s my stepsister”. My friend told me she was really glad that she hadn’t made any slut shaming comments when asking her question.

I was in Middle School but in the early '90s in California border patrol were chasing a car through the town of Temecula. they ended up hitting a group of five kids that were walking to school and they all died. one of the kids mom was a reporter and found out it was her child when she got to the scene.
A classmate assaulted my little sister (freshman) during the last couple of weeks of school, and he got expelled. He threatened to blow up our graduation. That was just 6 weeks after Columbine, so we had heavy security.

Meant we didn’t have to go back inside until the school was cleared. The kids who called them in got caught every single time! I could never figure out how it was worth getting expelled.
My school did too. I feel like it had to be more than two in a year because I would just leave. When my French teacher brought it up, I pointed out that shuffling us all to the stadium or the gym if it was raining was a horrible idea as anyone actually intending to do that would know the best place to actually place bombs.

For some weird reason, this reminded me of an incident that occurred when I was a fairly new teacher. The head teacher of the Industrial Arts faculty was using a bench saw during class, and it ‘kicked back’ on him. The timber he was cutting smashed into his pelvis (thankfully just above his ‘family jewels’) hard enough that he needed to be carted off in an ambulance.
Aside from the nature of the injury, the main reason I remember it was because he and I used to carpool into work together and he had driven us to work in his car that day. Thankfully, his keys had been left at the front office and I was asked to drive his car back to his place. I think his wife was just as grateful that I was able to drive his car home as I was. The school was a small rural school that was a 40 minute highway drive from the injured teacher’s home, and another 20 minutes on main arterial roads from mine. On the days when we went in the other teacher’s car, I parked my car outside his house, so I had no problems getting home once I’d dropped his car off.
The injury was bad enough that the teacher was off work for 3 or 4 weeks, then was back at work with restrictions for another month or so. A lot of the boys at the school had poor impulse control and no sense of personal or general safety. The teacher who was injured was in his 50s and known for being somewhat grumpy and taking no crap, but the kids all really liked him. Seeing, or at least knowing he got injured and how calmed a lot of them down for at least a few weeks after the initial injury, then again when the teacher returned to school and they could see how he was obviously still in pain. They certainly paid closer attention to any safety warnings I gave when running through how to do practical work in Science classes for a while.

A couple years before i started going there, the senior prank they did was that they somehow put a VW bug on the top floor. I dont think they ever found out who did it or how they got it up there. It was the first year my sister went there, and it was a big deal and legendary for years after that.
There was a soccer player who died in a car accident with his younger brother who was also in jr high soccer after they won the state championship. The jr high named their soccer field after him, and its still named that. I just went back there a few months ago to visit family.
A girl got her license on her 16th birthday, she got a new car to go with it. Later that day some Jrs/Seniors were walking to lunch on the sidewalk between the road and these industrial 14' fencing to keep the school 'secure'. The girl got her high heel wedged under the gas pedal and lost control of the car hitting 5 kids, and they were pinned against the fencing. 3 of them were in the ICU for months.
Her parents were rich and she was never charged with anything, it just went away.
My BF at the time was really good friends with one of the kids and his family, he had traumatic brain injury for the rest of his life.
What should she have been charged with? It was a seriously unfortunate accident, and I think many women learn this can happen with heels and flip flops the hard way.
Reckless driving/endangerment - she pulled out of the school, showing off, and gunned the gas and lost control of the car. There were rubber marks 12' long and CSU was out there taking evidence because they thought a few kids were going to die at the hospital.
She pretty much put her car on top of the fence, 20' from the school entrance. She didn't even get her license suspended or her school parking pass pulled (which the school pulled everyone's pass over small infractions, let alone almost killing students/ property damage). It was towards the end of the school year and the seniors were somber.
I tried to find the news article online with no luck. My mom still might have a copy, I'll post later if she sends it over. It was a big deal, I wasn't allowed to be any of friend's car for over a year after that.

Our principal was a barely functioning alcoholic. A kid was caught with an unopened bottle of Jack Daniels, and he was brought into the principal's office for a long lecture. The principal confiscated the bottle, and a few days later, when another student who helped around the office went into his desk to get something, he saw the bottle, opened and about 90% empty.

In junior high one of our subs, who had been a long-term sub in my history class when our teacher went out on medical leave, was arrested and charged in a contract killing in Florida for which an innocent mentally disabled man had been in jail for years. I don't remember the details of how it all started, but a friend who dressed alt/gothy got into an argument with some popular girls. They ended up pouring acid all over this car. When the police questioned them, they claimed they were "scared" of him, so the police got a warrant to search his house. The only questionable thing they found was the book The Anarchist's Cookbook, which someone had given him as a gift. He was arrested and expelled from school his senior year and had to complete a GED so he could go to college.
The students were LIVID. It led to an entire semester of chaos. Protests, walk-outs, hundreds of students showing up to school board meetings for the rest of the year. We even protests at graduation, since he should have been there. It was a wild time.
This was all post-Columbine, so I think he got profiled as an alt white boy and it spiraled from there. In hindsight, I'm really proud of the organizing we did to protest and support him.
Seniors on the football team got caught hazing (sexually assaulting) freshman on the team with broomstick handles. It had been going on for years apparently, and only came to light when the previous coach left and the new head coach took over and reported it.
I went to an all girls Catholic academy. One rumor was that a junior was caught with a very attractive male religion teacher. She was a year ahead of me. The male teacher was a good teacher. He now teaches at an all boys archdiocesan school.
I got to be fed to the rumor mill senior year. My then best friend pushed me off the stage during Hell Week of our school play. I got up off the floor and I punched her. She went around saying I was pregnant by probably the guy my age I was closest to. If not him, it was my prom date. If not him, it was my Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. It caused me to have a nervous breakdown. I went back to school, and the nun principal… er… touched me inappropriately. I got homebound tutoring because I was not going to be her plaything. She expelled me with 3 months to graduation. I got my GED and started college classes while my classmates were still in high school.

My sophomore year, our school resource officer was arrested for a series of 5 bank robberies . The crazy thing was, the School, his precinct, and one of the banks were all within like 3/4 of a mile from one another.

The way he got away with it is he wore a big white bandage on his face during the robbery. After the robbery it’s all people could remember about him to describe to police, and security footage was crap back then.

His mistake was using a car he had once driven to the precinct. Several older vehicles had been used in the robberies. The vehicle he had once driven to his precinct had stood out to another officer because it wasn't a vehicle he usually used to go there.

Factor that into the banks all being in areas this cop was familiar with, and the one cop says to tge detectives. See if he still owns this vehicle. He did. I can't remember how the investigation worked from there, but it turned out he had gotten himself into a lot of debt buying random things, like a new computer, newer car, a whole bunch of random stuff.

A couple of rich kids cheated during the final exams, with the help and the coordination of one of the parents (a lawyer, no less!).

This guy who was in our friend group (he and I weren’t close) got arrested for statutory rape. The police came to school and he disappeared for awhile. He eventually came back and it was super awkward. No one knew what to say to him.
A couple actually. My freshman year a science teacher was arrested charged and put in prison for abusing students. He would at first get the students to like and trust him. Then he invite them to his home. Took them to the basement and chain them. I don’t want to get into detail. It’s rough. Anyway he only got a three year sentence. Got out in two and then later he changed his name and did the same thing to more students in another county. When he got caught the second time he took his own life not long after.
My junior year, on of the P.E teachers and the girls basketball coach was sexually harassing multiple female students.
We had a guy who had to spend his 16th birthday in police custody due to him making a list of people bullying him, at the request of his therapist from what I heard, and one of the main bullies found it and claimed it was a columbine style hitlist. I remember driving to school that day and there were local police stopping us and asking if we had weapons in the car.
Later on, same dude found out same bully lost a testicle, most likely to legit testicular torsion (the rumor was he had a pencil in his pocket and got slide tackled while playing some soccer with friends) Bullies GF at the time most likely found out while she was rummaging around in his pants and started telling her friends. Dude heard about it, wanted to take the high road cause he didnt want anymore trouble, but one day bully wouldn't let up. So, dude just yelled, in the middle of the halls between classes, so half the school heard it "SHUT UP, ONE!!"
Last I remember, that put a stop to it.
I was on a cheerleading squad that was eligible to compete at nationals each year of high school. We spent all year fundraising — selling candy, car washes, contacting local businesses for donations and sponsorship, etc. And each year, we were told by our coach/advisor that our funds weren’t enough to be able to travel and compete.
Years later, we found out our coach/advisor was fired for essentially embezzling our funds. We raised all that money and she effin’ pocketed it all! I was so mad when we found out.

When he was taking to proof sheets to the printer, the editor of that page took out what was approved by staff, and inserted what he thought was a funnier option. Our advisor almost got fired because admin thought he had cleared that story.
A kid in my homeroom aided his cousins in murdering his aunt and uncle. They got life in prison, no parole.

Yesss that reminds me of the time a friend swiped vodka from her parent’s liquor cabinet and brought it to school in a travel-sized Scope container. We put in a bottle of Sunny D (still called Sunny Delight at the time) and split it amongst the three of us. Music teacher started dating one of the senior students. That she was 18 was irrelevant, she hadn't graduated yet. A lot of students cried when he got fired, though I hope we understand now that what he did wasn't right. This was back in 1992, in a small town. Everyone knew each other.
My high school years (10th - 12th grade) we're weird for band class. Went through three music teachers those years.
There were a string of about 20 armed robberies around town, including the store where I worked. Turned out to be members of the football team who all got arrested. This was in 1996.
In a weird repetition of history, in 2013 another group of teens from the same school went on a spree of robbery and assault, leading to a bunch more arrests. Just a strange thing to happen twice in a suburb of Salt Lake City.
Kid wrote a “kill list” on a school computer and printed it using the school printers. He then posted it all over the school. He thought he’d get away with it cuz he put his own name on the list. He did not.
A group of popular girls (16-17), posing under the guise of friendship, invited a younger girl (15) over to someone’s apartment to ‘hang out’. The younger girl was pregnant at the time, by the boyfriend of one of the older girls. The older girls beat her nearly to death and she lost the baby. They all ended up incarcerated at it entirely changed the trajectory of their lives.
A kid i went to school with was picked up from school for murdering his mom's ex boyfriend and burning his trailer down. When my schoolmate was young, the ex and his father beat this kid's mom to death and left her laying on the floor for days before seeking treatment, but she was already gone by the time they sought treatment.
Fast forward some years, another girl from our school tried getting my schoolmate and the mom's ex boyfriend together for some reason, like to talk out their issues. The ex said something about his mom and basically signed his own death warrant. This kid got 17 years for it, i cant remember the girl's sentence.
There were a lot of scandals at my high school but the worst was probably the male student who went on a murder spree because he got dumped by his girlfriend. He is still in prison.
I'm amused at all the pregnancy scandals; my high school had its own daycare that students could use if they had children, so no one blinked an eye at teen pregnancy.
1999 During my sophomore year, one of the special ed teachers was killed by her husband (a high school football coach in another district). She was 7 months pregnant with their second child at the time of her death. The husband tried to make it seem like a home invasion gone horribly awry.
During the investigation, so many wild rumors and accusations and theories about students or faculty possibly being involved in the murder. Come to find out, the husband had been having an affair and killed his wife.

My second school wasn't nearly so serious a scandal there was a guy who wore a nude bodysuit to halloween and the principal had to literally chase him down the hall like one of those old slapstick comedy routines. He got suspended for like two weeks and the rest of the students organized a "Free [Student's Name]" protest. Also at my school there was a tradition that on the last day of school all the seniors would run down the hallway yelling and celebrating and all the younger students would watch. When our turn came around the principal didn't want us to do it so she literally canceled the last day of school.
I guess in retrospect I had kinda shit luck with high school principals.
The night before graduation, a bunch of seniors (including the Valedictorian) got a bunch of skinned sheep heads from a butcher and stashed them around campus for everyone to find when they came to school in the morning.
Science Teacher/football coach allegedly was banging a student. They did an investigation and nothing was found. A few years ago they were doing another investigation into the same incident, he just decided to say fuck it and retire from teaching.
His lawyer was like "You guys investigated this stuff 20 years ago and found nothing then, you're not gonna find anything now either."
One dude at my high school was banned from the morning announcements for making fun of the cafeteria food. It was quite the scandal in a little town called Hanover.

The big one was that the principal was fired for taking bribes from the copy machine company and we got sanctions on our school and lost our nationally known basketball tournament and had to share it with the rival high school. I won’t name drop the types of players who came during their high school years - but they are widely recognized folks.
The small one: we did an annual Valentine’s day fundraiser where everyone did a match making quiz and paid like $5 to see who they were most compatible with in the school or your class. One sketchy male teacher filled it out and commented on his matches. He also “joked” about hitting on students once they were legal after graduation.

Take your pick...accidental shooting cause someone brought a gun to school to show off and it discharged hitting a girl in the back of the neck during 7th period, luckily only grazing the back of her neck. That made front page. That was 9th grade. Or the multi person gang attack in senior year I think it was that caused our school to get surveillance systems installed; metal detectors, I.D. badges and I think clear bags were required after I graduated for a bit. Not a millennial, graduated 1969 from an American school in Guadalajara. Half way through the second semester, the school became aware of the fact that 75% of the students were smoking pot regularly, even up on the roof of the school during school hours. Was a really big deal in the expat community. On a Friday afternoon the student body was told that they needed to advise their parents that there was a meeting the following Monday at the school, and if your parents were not there, you were expelled. I told mine at about 20:30 on Sunday night. My parents freaked out. I still smoke pot.
My 5th grade english teacher was arrested during the middle of the school day. We watched him get cuffed and removed.

I went to Catholic school. Two girls (cousins) decided to play game in which points where earned for giving oral sex. 1 girl waited outside the boys basketball practice and hit up 2 boys I grew up with. I grew up in the same county that Columbine High School is in and attended its sister school, Pomona. There was a rally for our percussion ensemble the day it happened and we found out after the performance and were sent home early. One of the drummers, Matt, knew Dylan and Eric and he drove down to Columbine. He was arrested by the FBI for approaching the school and I believe he was wearing a trench coat. Matt was gone for the rest of the school year and transferred out of Pomona the following year to complete his senior year. There was a lot of speculation about what he knew and possible involvement. A pretty chilling scandal, I still think about it whenever the tragedy is brought up.

Cops bust into their mansion to arrest her husband. The businessman was a serial rapist. Had a nickname and everything. Shit hit the fan for her. She absolutely had no idea and was devastated. The media stalked her kids school but media was banned on our campus so she left town. Came back a year later. Never talked about again.
Not my school but the last school I worked for had its principal fired a week before graduation for having an affair with a parent whose husband was in Iraq. They’d have ‘meetings’ about the kid which were just nooners in his office. Was the best boss I ever had. Loss everything.

Girls basketball coach, in his late 50s, was taking advantage of a 14-year-old girl. This went on for nearly 2 years before her mother found her diary. It all got exposed and BLEW up. As it should have. Coach's son was in my graduating class. His wife was an English teacher. The girl was ridiculed and bullied afterwards. This all came to light 3 months before graduation.
His son was absolutely ashamed, his wife of course was embarrassed and kicked the coach out of the house, and filed for divorce. Coach lost his job. The girl moved to a school 2 counties away at the end of that year.
Not just the town but entire counties alongside the town knew about it after it all came out.

A friend of mine in high school had a sexual relationship with a math teacher whom was the “math team” coach he was 24 and she was 17. While not her teacher it was a scandal that cause him to resign and for her to withdraw. She needed no additional credits for graduation so it was just a shame. Had she reenrolled a day before graduation she would have been our valedictorian . Side note they did get married and had two kids HOWEVER, they got divorced 10 years later after she discovered he had been having an affair with her teenage sister!
I was only in high-school for 3 months. But one of the senior guys who was a cheerleader was know for raping freshman girls. He left the state the day after he graduated.
I was in the auditioned choir and when we were out of town for a competition a group of kids got caught smoking pot in one of the hotel rooms. I remember it being a Very Big Deal at the time (mid-90s, small town) and they all got expelled so we spent the rest of the year without the majority of our bass section.
Security guard knocked up a senior. She was 18 and he was somewhere between 28-32. Like it’s legal, but it’s ginormously frowned upon and gross, because of his position at the school. He was fired. They ended up getting married. Not sure if they are still together, but they were for at least a decade afterwards.
Oh and our school got rid of the “smoking section” my sophomore year. Then a student somehow found out that the principal was sneaking down into a basement utility room to smoke, despite the campus being “smoke free”. Said student snuck down there, snapped a photo for proof, and the principal took her extremely expensive camera and smashed it on the ground. Principal ended up leaving after that semester, and I don’t recall what happened (replace camera, no action, blah blah blah).
I remember one of hot girls got her nudes shared throughout the school. This would have been maybe 1998. It was through the internet which has to be one of the earliest cases of such a thing. She had a very stuck up vibe before and afterward she was very withdrawn and depressed. Still felt bad for her despite that.
German teacher (who was very German) was drunk as a skunk even in the morning classes. After parent-teacher evening or whatever it was called, the next day in front of the whole class he said to me, heavy accent:

One day there was a police chase on the road that went past the school, and the person being chased crashed through the school fence, got out of the car covered in blood, and ran by the school where students in classrooms facing that side of the school could see the bloody man.

Small private Christian school, one kid got caught smoking weed and ratted on everyone else he knew who smoked. 12 others got in trouble even though they didn’t have proof. The Doobie Disciples and Judas. I was one of the 12.
A girl and her friend murdered a handicapped man with a hammer to steal money they thought he had, then went to a party and bragged about it. They were caught trying to leave town the next morning.
They're both currently in the state pen still.
Our marching band is(was) considered one of the tops in the country. Regularly played at Mardi Gras, etc. They had money and traveled for marches. One year they went to the Bahamas and 2 freshman girls had done parasailing for free because they went topless…accompanied by a teacher 🤮.
My high school had an amazing computer club especially for the 90s but it was damn hard to get into. I tried every year with no luck. I finally was able to be in it during my senior year. The teacher that ran and a few students got arrested for counterfeiting money. Most of the school's computers were gone after that. The older I get the more I can't understand an adult teaming up with teenagers to commit any felony.
One year or maybe over the span of 2 years there were 3 suicides. One was a student who jumped from the roof of a hospital. Another kid shot himself (at home not at school). Third was a heroin OD.
Our senior year our class sold the class shirts to raise money for grad night trip. One night one of our classmates broke in and stole the money which he used for his girlfriends abortion. Catholic school nothing was ever proved but we all knew...
We went through Spanish teachers like Spinal Tap went through drummers. It was even an established running joke before I got there apparently. We came back from Christmas break freshman year and she just no-showed. Had a nervous breakdown. So we had no teacher for 2 weeks, played cards and stuff until they hired a replacement. She made it to the end of the year and quit for undisclosed reasons. Fortunately the next one hung around for several years.
There were so many. 9th grade teacher dating a senior that was 18 and enrolled. Principal cheating on his wife with a coworker. Band director committed suicide after he was turned in for inappropriate behavior with a student. Wrestling coach fired for exposing himself to student-athletes. Driver’s ed teacher fired for showing female students how to buckle in seatbelts (yes, dude reached across laps like we were all unaware how they worked). An administrator and coworker went on trips together to the mountains to bang their side pieces. What else…oh, on Martin Luther King’s birthday the local yokels hung a rebel flag on the water tower each year.
During spirit week it there was a day that each class wore their color, and that was dubbed "senior slut day". The senior color was black and the girls would wear fishnets, halter tops, and other clothes that could be considered questionable as per the dress code, but nobody was wearing stripper-wear or anything actually inappropriate.
Somehow the local news caught wind of "senior slut day" and called our district a "cesspool of sleaze"
Mine wasn’t nearly as sexy as a lot of these. My city was the skinhead capital of the US, and my high school was especially notorious about it to the degree that we had specific anti-skinhead stuff in the dress code (no flight jackets, no colored laces on Docs, etc.) One student became an especially well known shitstain in the local community, and became a problem for me when I (an anarchist punk rock kid who organized protests) started dating his ex after he graduated. I had to watch my back for a while there because his local crew knew me as a “communist n——— lover” even though only the second half of that is true.
That wasn’t even the scandalous part, though. His younger brother followed in his ways and got expelled for going all American History X on a black kid from a rival school. Pretty sad.
Interestingly enough, the skinheads almost completely disappeared within a year or two of graduation, but it was replaced with heroin. Previously the worst people got up to was some mushrooms and acid occasionally, but I swear there was a kid who died from it every year at least during the time my siblings went there.
Kid (male) was in a room with a female special Ed student. Sexual allegations were made against the kid soon after. Before they were able to bring the kid into the front office, he left school grounds, jumped the barricade that bordered I-95 (left his wallet and watch on the barricade) and walked in front of a semi.
This all happened while I was working in the front office for one of my classes. From the original allegation to the suicide an hour had passed. Fucking devastating. Since I was there and heard the whole story they swore me to secrecy about the story behind it.
Someone made a pipe bomb and put it in his friend’s locker. It went off and blew the top of the locker off. Nowadays it would be top story on CNN. Back then it was a prank.
During my time at the school, it was mostly deaths (illness, accidents, suicides).
Not long after I left, news broke that a staff member at the school was providing names/contact info of girls to the city's mayor, where he would receive sexual favors from the girls in exchange for drugs and/or money.
Small school, mid-90s. The pre-scandal scandalous behavior is that our music/English teacher took a school van to bring kids to a Phish show. On the way, a friend and I put gin into a bottle of Pepsi clear and I accidentally took too much acid because the papers were stacked, but still remember that teacher passing me a weed pipe in front of the stage.
Later, a student he knew well got pregnant and was disowned by her family because the baby was mixed race. The (married) teacher started a relationship with her and things got soooo weird.
I was actually the person who reported it and oof, I was not popular. But being shunned by my classmates got me into a program to finish high school in community college and it turned my life around in some miraculous ways.
Two football players left at lunch, robbed a bank down the street. Then they came back to school, put the money in their locker and went to afternoon class. They were arrested before the end of the day because both of the dumbasses were wearing their football team shirts.
Kid got framed for a bomb plot by a friend of the son of the district superintendent. After the day outside while the bomb squad cleared the building, the kid got suspended and the dude who framed him started running his mouth. After enough students went to the principal, someone went to the state police. I think the superintendent kept his job but his son's friend ended up in jail
A quiet kid set off a small bomb in the cafeteria. No one was hurt, and this was before Columbine so not as scary as it could have been.
He spent the rest of the year in juvenile corrections, but they let him be in the yearbook as planned. His senior quote was a straight up anarchist manifesto. I saw him a few years after high school and he looked great. Hope he is still doing good (and not setting off bombs)
The choir teacher, who was also the cheerleading coach, had a gangbang with half of the football team junior year. One of the players she nailed was her daughter's boyfriend (she was also a junior). What a shit show that was.
The local since kindergarten student was awarded valedictorian even though the student who moved in sophomore year had a better GPA and was more involved in school extra-curriculars.
One of the English teachers apparently drinking on the job / coming to work already on the sauce. Had her my 10th grade year - but other than her swatting at imaginary gnats, I personally didn't see/smell anything else odd or concerning.
We had two.
In middle school we had a troublemaker white kid (who used to scream and throw things) use a racial slur to a black female teacher. Her and a male teacher (also black) brought the student into the hall and she slapped the student across the face. This led to the AP taking the blame and stepping down.
In high school the FBI raided a students house. Turned out he was hosting a server where someone was storing CP. I dont remember all the details but I think he was getting paid for it. He got arrested.
The volleyball coach/health teacher was banging the football coach (both married with kids). I guess they were getting a little too familiar (everyone at school knew about it) and the volleyball coach’s husband showed up at a game with their kids and busted them kinda hugging on each other between games….oh and one time I got drunk and pissed myself at a pep rally…but probably mostly the affair thing.
We had a 16 year old girl who was shot and killed by her boyfriend after breaking up with him but when they were investigating they found out she wasn’t a girl at all but a 23 year old woman who had decided real life sucked and forged/stole the documents to enroll in high school.
A junior teacher (not a student teacher but didn't have his own classes but he worked in the tutoring center) was caught having sexual relations with three seniors (and they were all friends). And since it was the 90s people were like "well they're 18 so it's not illegal". Except one was 17 so it was and that's how he got caught.
Nothing terribly scandalous.
My public school high school English teacher asked me to write her 4th grader’s book report. He attended private school. When I refused, she attempted to write me up for “cheating” because I was helping a classmate in the classroom before the bell rang with one of the sentence diagrams from the homework assigned the night before. I was in National Honors Society and as part of NHS, I did volunteer tutoring twice a week in the evenings for students of our school. I asked her if she really planned to write me up, because “I’d love to have a meeting with her, the principal, and your son’s 4th grade teacher on the nuances between tutoring and cheating.” She then told me that I needed to take a bathroom break and not come back to the classroom before for 10 minutes, and gave me a hall pass. (This teacher also solicited and paid high school boys to come to her house and shoot a her of nutria that were eating her deck.)
We had 6 students die in DUI accidents in 1 year. The school size was 800 students, so that was a lot.
There were rumors that one of the female teachers chose a senior boy to sleep with every year, but I don’t know if that was true or not.
We also had a very proper Southern Baptist super conservative pro-life home Ec teacher that was always up in everyone’s business. She was in the know of all the rumors and would call students (boys and girls) into her classroom in the corner of her room and interrogate them about their dating life and sexual activity and would hand out condoms and resources for birth control. She was a real character. And giving condoms truly was scandalous in that age and location, but she was also really tired of seeing the half dozen pregnant students every year.
Beloved and well known football coach in our state hung himself in the weight room. He was found in the morning by the assistant principal. No one, to my knowledge ever knew the real reason. There were rumors of gambling.
French teacher was having sex with a student, which got brushed under the rug. I only knew about it because my best friend's dad was the head of the board. Cheating scandal, where wealthier students got more lenient sentences. Guy running an after school boys club called Lancers was molesting students, which a student gave a speech about after I graduated with him in attendance. That judge would later kill himself. Years later we found out our middle school science teacher was also molesting kids in an isolated office where he would do photography and give sports massages. One of the deans of students got busted in an FBI sting for online predators years after I graduated. Couple more sex scandals through the years. Fun Fact: Our 2016 valedictorian was Luigi Mangione.
There were a few. But one that stands out is a classmate found the theater department's credit card and sold that information to a 2nd student. The 2nd student then made expensive purchases using the identity of a 3rd student (who he was friends with).
When the school found the budget discrepancy ($15k), they saw the deliveries were to a PO box in the 3rd student's name. So they brought him in and were threatening him with expulsion and criminal charges. They placed the burden of clearing his name on him, but since there was an accusation of mail fraud, he was able to get security tapes from the place that was receiving packages. The first two students were expelled but no charges were pressed. One died of a heroin overdose a few years later and the other was in jail longterm for being a midlevel coke dealer.
Hoo boy. I got one, it's a doozy.
My English teacher was married to one of the gym teachers. They were like in their early 40s maybe.
Brand new gym teacher right out of college. Even as an oblivious young teen I knew she was beyond beautiful. I felt bad for her because she was talked about a lot in um, dirty ways. So much so she avoided wearing makeup and wore a simple ponytail and baggy workout pants with loose shirts.
One day, a rumor went around that she was sleeping with the gym teacher who was married to the English teacher.
We are doing our calisthenics before we split up to our activities when the English teacher walks into the gym as calm as she could be and then starts screaming at her husband. He's denying it, she's calling him names and using graphic language and all of us are like omg where's the popcorn.
Then the woman gym teacher walks into the gym with a bunch of others because they were wondering why we weren't at our activities.
Omg poor lady because the English teacher walks up to her and slaps her hard, calls her a homewrecking whore, and we are thinking oh this just got serious.
The husband pulls his wife away into the office and the principal and some other administers came in and we were told to go change and go to study hall.
Apparently, one of the kids in her class told the English teacher about the rumor in the middle of their lesson, and she *flipped out* and ran out of the room. Somebody asked why the fuck he said anything. He said he was bored!
Turns out, the rumor was half true. She was dating one of the gym teachers, but it was the other *woman* gym teacher. That set off a whole other thing. Parents wanted her fired too, but they never did anything during school hours so the administration had their backs and said no. After a few months it calmed down and nobody cared.
Oh, the guy and the English teacher got divorced, and the English teacher was fired because you know, violence.
Yikes on bikes, I can still hear the slap when thinking about it.
Two kids ran away and were missing for about two weeks. They had been telling people they were gonna go to Florida. They took a car of one of their sisters. After about two weeks of searching they were found in Arizona. They were back in school after them. A year after graduation one of those kids shot another classmate in front of the Walmart.
One of my teachers was forced to resign because she was caught having relations with a senior at prom. The senior was over 18 I guess which is why it didn’t turn into a bigger thing, but her husband also worked at the school so it was pretty awkward the wrest of the year
I went to Christian school. The one everybody will point to is where our Headmaster got in trouble for soliciting prostitutes.
The one that haunts me is the one where a classmate was going into the military and evidently she had sex or did sexual things with her recruiter in order to get into the program that she wanted to. Since she was underage and the recruiter was an adult this is obviously statutory rape at the very least. But guess what? Because she had sex, she got suspended. Our school suspended her. No one bad in an eye that an underage girl who was a victim got punished for having sex.

When I was a freshman, they took a criminal justice class to a youth detention center on a field trip. Somehow they separated a small group of kids (7 of the 20) who were then lured into cells, beaten and robbed. The students sued the district. The corrections officers were charged for leaving them unsupervised and for conspiring with the inmates to cover it up. The news came, interviewed some of us, but I don't know or remember what became of the whole thing. It was quite shocking for our quiet little town.
Remember the show Glee? Remember the allegations against the previous show choir director at the beginning of the series? One of the show creators went to my high school.
My scandal is that I DIDNT have sex with a hot teacher.
My senior year bio-chem teacher was like 25 at the time and god damn adorable. Also my home room teacher was sexy and on the young side too.
A friend passed away of skin cancer shortly before we graduated in 1999. The whole class worn ribbons in his honor during graduation and a lot of us went to his funeral. Extremely sad.
It’s not, but I read someone else’s account of someone passing away and thought of him so I posted it. He was a good dude. I can still remember some of the homily the priest gave which is crazy because I can’t remember what I was doing yesterday.
Someone wore a tshirt that said "the original boys in the hood" and it pictured the KKK. Caused a massive fight to break out that led to the police showing up, along with a few news channels. They had to cancel school early and escorted us in groups of 10 to the busses/student parking, with cops from several surrounding towns, sherrifs, and even Georgia State Patrol, lining the hallways and parking lots. It was eerie. (Also, the kid who wore the shirt not only had to switch schools, eventually his whole family had to move away because of the societal backlash.)
I have an elementary school scandal. This art teacher who was so rude to me was caught in a park masterbating. I didn’t realize how terrible this was. I was just happy he was gone bc he was mean to me
There were multiple, but I'll give two. I went to a county run Vocational High School in semi-rural PA.
One of the Culinary Arts students was adopted and the only Asian student in the entire school as far as I was aware. Super polite, quiet, nice guy. He was well liked by the people in his shop/major. There were maybe a dozen minority students in the entire school of 400+ students. A couple of the bullies from the Auto Body and Auto Mechanics shop tied him into a ball and rolled him down a hill in front of the school. That was on a Thursday. He called in sick on Friday, faking a stomach bug. When his parents left for work he killed himself with a 12 gauge shotgun. There were zero consequences for the bullies with the police and the school sweeping the incident under the rug as hearsay, despite a dozen witnesses.
The second involved a hall monitor who was closer to what we might now call a "school resource officer". She was competing for the attention of the same man with the aunt of a student who happened to be one of my friends. One night at a club my friend's aunt publicly humiliated her and this news somehow made it to the student body. In retaliation she singled out my friend and his younger sister. She made up some really ugly rumors about my friend's sister and spread them among the students. For my friend, she tried multiple times to catch him with drugs, going so far as to eventually plant a small baggie of XTC in his locker by pushing it through the vents on the locker door when her multiple attempts at searching him yielded nothing. A camera caught her planting the drugs. She was fired. No criminal charges were brought because her brother was a local cop. The school district in the next town hired her immediately. Again, basically no consequences.
I commented elsewhere “which one?” then I started reading other people’s stories. That ended up flooding me with memory after memory. The more I remember the more I realize that I went to school at Drama Central ISD.
The only “proof” I have is that Jay Leno talked about my town/kids either 2 or 3 times while I was in school.

The year before I went into highschool (95 I think) there was a gay couple that attended prom together. The school wasn't going to allow it, but in the end they did. The couple was even on Sally Jesse Rafael.

A classmate I had known since third or fourth grade was shot in the head at a house party by a guy I had once been friends with in middle school. He pulls a .380 out at the party and starts firing it off and one of the bullets hit her right between the eyes. She survived but lost one-third of her temporal lobe and half her frontal lobe. She missed graduation. She had already been accepted into the honors program at the top public school in the state.
Initially he got a ten year sentence but the judge in the case later reduced it to 10 years probation after 180 days in prison. He was 17 at the time of the crime, so I can see why the judge reduced it. The victim recovered in as much as you can recover from a gun shot wound to the brain. I think she had diminished use of an arm. She did eventually get to go to the school she had been accepted to.
Looking the shooter up now I see information that leads me to believe he’s dead.
One of my classmates, who was kind of an alt punk rebel type but super smart, ran for class President with posters saying "John Holmes would approve." I didn't know who that was until the school had them removed then the word got around who JH was.
He was also the public face of the fight against the school to allow students (and just one really) to have big spiky mohawks. He went and spoke in front of the district and made the local front page. I don't remember any students having an issue with spiky hair. It obviously took a lot of work to do every day.
The kids that wore the confederate flag during Homecoming patriotism day. Later in the week, when the Homecoming king and queen were likely to be a mixed race couple, some comments were made about taking out the couple. So we had the state police on the roof of our high school while the Homecoming court was presented as we sat in the stadium.
Super popular counselor was molesting boys for a decade. He was caught, jailed, trial required a lot of my friends to traumatize themselves. All of those boys are now men who've gone on be on drugs, in prison etc.
Also, loved older history teacher was found to be having "relationship" with a sophomore. We didnt even have time to react to it as he killed himself the day after he bailed out.
Lots of other gross predatory racist BS at our freakish cursed school.
In third grade, someone called in a bomb threat at my school. The rest of the kids were chittering and wondering what was going on. I went totally silent once we were seated all together in the auditorium because I could hear the adults whispering about it around me. I gathered that a lady in the front office was going through a divorce, and her soon-to-be ex got drunk and called in the bomb threat to embarrass and harass her. Gave some other kids the scoop, and it spread like a game of telephone. The teachers were confused about how we already understood when they went to explain the situation.
Kid brought and sold pipe bombs out his locker at school. Supposedly based on a recipe from the internet’s infamous anarchist cookbook. Made national news, especially since it was an all boys private college prep high school. He was in the art club, and I had been made de facto art club president in my senior year. I had the pleasure of sitting down with administrators & police, so I could tell them I didn’t know anything about it and to my knowledge no one else in art club did.

We had two pretty good ones.
First one the history teach liked to record the news and make his classes watch the first 15 minute of it every day. There was other "stuff" on that VHS. He was also a track coach and had to leave early for a track meet and left instructions for the Sub. She rewound the tape a little too far that day and at the beginning of that tape was a porno. She hits play, walks to the back of the room and the firs thing on that tape was some guy going down on a girl. The sub takes off in a dead sprint to turn it off and everybody in the aisle sticks a foot out to trip her. The next day he had parking lot duty and I was walking in at the same time as the sub and he yells across the parking lot to her "What in the world did you show my class yesterday". Nothing happened to either of them, but somebody printed a stack of porno 101 signs and taped them to his door every day for the last month of so of that school year.
The other sad/funny one was there were two sisters both pregnant at the same time, allegedly by the same guy.
A guy I knew ran a small “business” selling porno mags and tapes from his locker. Someone noticed that an “actress” looked a lot like our new health teacher. It was later confirmed it was her, and she was fired before the end of the first semester.
We had the head of the cheerleading squad get pregnant not once but twice in the 4-yr span on Hs. By different guys.
Fortunately she appears to have a happy family and is successful in her life today. But back then it was 😳
A kid was mouthing off to a history teacher (and wrestling coach). Apparently the teacher got sick of his shit and asked him if he wanted to “settle it like men.” Kid was like sure let’s fuckin’ go, so the whole class marched down to the wrestling room where the teacher proceeded to break the kid’s collar bone.
The teacher “went on sabbatical” for a year, but he did come back and taught again afterward.
Someone got stabbed to death with a screwdriver, another kid had his head beat in with a metal drum, there were a couple of shootings and a drive by that shot up the campus
When Columbine happened I honestly didn't know why it was on national news, I was sincerely confused
Senior year one of the varsity cheerleaders turned 18 and started working as a stripper. A couple of the male teachers frequented the establishment she worked at regularly. It was pretty gross to see them perving out over her.
Teacher got married to a student a few months after she graduated. No one could prove anything illegal happened and they’re still married 26 years later.
A teacher in my middle school got busted doing lines of coke in a closet during school, but that was after I left.
Lesbian teacher/student relationship that the parents condoned and supported. Insane to think today that she never got fired tbh and its was the female student who dropped out.
3 kids in my grade were arrested for running a pretty elaborate drug ring throughout central NJ. Another teacher was having an affair with a student he coached for several years.
At my high school, the vice principal allegedly confiscated students weed and kept it for himself…..
In addition he liked to invite the cheerleaders to his office for extra curricular activities to help their grades.

We had a hit list and bomb threat go through but never amounted to anything thank goodness. My name was on the hit list. This was around 99, in TN. I remember evacuating the school, but the threat turned out to be a false alarm.
I went to a small alternative high school for girls. The school also had a residential program that some of the girls lived at. Two of the girls ran away from the residence, went to a bar, somehow got in and met two dudes whom they spent the night with. In the AM, they got the guys to take them to the IHOP across from the school. While at the IHOP, the girls stole the guys wallets and then ran back to the school. The dudes, of course, followed them and came barging into our tiny school mad as hell. The police were called, the dudes left sheepishly when they realized the girls were 15 and 16, and both girls ended up getting kicked out shortly after.
The only other scandal was when a girl tried to use the bathroom sink as a bidet, and she broke the sink off the wall. Rather than tell anyone, she ran out of the room and went back to class like nothing happened. Unfortunately, she left the water running and the hallway flooded. That girl earned a lot of nicknames after that incident.
The football coach was abusing the players and forcing them to haze each other. He’d make them hold a player down and give them a pink belly. I can’t remember much else but there were news articles about it.
In 9th grade, our drama teacher was more of a friend than a teacher. She’d throw huge parties at her house that we’d all go to. It came out that she was giving marijuana to some of the kids and openly talking about sex, placing bets when certain couples would lose their virginity to each other, etc. That was huge news too. I never personally witnessed anything like that and we were all devastated when she got fired. Looking back now as an adult… yeah. She deserved to be fired.
We had a senior guy who looked much older than 18 who was dating a woman in her mid-20s. The problem was he told her he was a teacher at our high school, not a student. She showed up to bring him lunch one day, realized he was a student and flipped out.
I went to a high school in NJ where we had an annual Diversity Day. You could sign up for different talks and one of them was with a poet who was HIV+. Her talk wound up being sexually explicit and it included putting a condom on a dildo with her mouth and having the kids chant the F word. Scandal erupted, parents were fuming, it made headlines even in the NY Times, and there was a call-in discussion on NJ 101.5 about it.

* Senior raped a freshman. Nothing happened to him. He then ended up being in another scandal my sophomore year.
**Sophomore year**
* Threesome scandal. A senior girl had a threesome with two dudes, neither of which was her boyfriend, they recorded it and the dudes showed it at school in the weight room. Apparently she had had a threesome with 1 of the guys and a different one before but this time they decoded to film it and one of the guys got swapped out. I heard the incident followed her to college.
**Junior year**
* Cheating scandal, where a girl cheated on her boyfriend, then her best friend was also accused of cheating on her own boyfriend with the same guy. Everyone was in different groups from the preps, jocks, alt goth/punks, band kids, juniors and seniors so it became a big deal. The first girl gained weight and rumors of her pregnancy were huge...she wasn't.
* A goth bi band kid was killed in a car accident and it was rumored a preppy guy wrote on his memorial flyer "the f\*\*\*\*t deserved to die". That guys car was fucked up, his house and little sister harassed. People thought the goth kids friends were going to shoot up the school so the next day like 2/3rd of the school either stayed home or left early during the day. Nothing happened but the tension was pretty bad.
**Senior Year**
* Cheerleader was not only in a relationship with a school police officer but he was living with her and her family.
* Over charismatic chemistry teacher and cheerleader sponsor/coach, who was always rumored to be sleeping with the cheerleaders, turned out to be ~~sleeping~~ raping with the cheerleaders.
Those were all the big gossip scandals but there were plenty of pregnancies, cheating, bullying, fights, and favoritism throughout the 4 years outside of those listed.
My high school was pretty mild compared to these. A girl was pregnant and in school up until like a week before birth. Bomb threat during the wave after columbine. The stoners by the creek being protected by the cigarette smokers by the creek. Really nothing compared to these days.
Kid died in a car accident. Kid got expelled for dying his pubic hair green and flashing a girl. Kid got suspended for wiping semen in a girl’s hair. Spanish teacher went to jail for banging a student (student’s parents approved of the relationship, but the law didn’t care).
The 90s were awesome.
Our 4 valedictorians (all heading to Ivy Leagues) killed another high school’s valedictorian. They made a movie about this.
Also, one of our teachers shot and killed her Lesbian lover.
In high school it was just pregnancies and fights. In elementary school we had a pedophile priest and a teacher that was accused of messing around with students.
We had two:
First, was an alleged HS teacher that was having an affair with a student. It may have been innocuous but seemed very legitimate at the time because he would play basketball with her after school in the gym every day and they spent an inordinate amount of time together.
Secondly, we had a raging c-word of a principal whose daughter was also in my grade. The principal was out to get anyone that didn't like her, or her daughter - including teachers - so the faculty/staff were all on eggshells and gave the daughter special treatment etc...and teachers were instructed to give the girl who was leading to be the Valedictorian a harder time to bring her grades down.
Oddly enough, the daughter wound up doing an early admission to a local college and finished her senior year while a freshman there, but because her mom was Principal was named as the co-salutatorian of our class. The valedictorian (who went on to be an attorney) wound up giving a scathing speech during Commencement comparing the Principal to the Queen of Hearts.
Oh yeah, a few years later it turns out that the Principal was the step-mom to the Craigslist Killer, Philip Markoff (although he went to a different High School).
I had two. A math teacher got caught recording girls changing at his house when they came to work on homecoming floats. A guidance counselor got arrested for flashing people in bathrooms at the local university.
A girl who lost homecoming contested the results and demanded a recount. Just a year after the Gore Florida recount. So yeah. Everyone made fun of her.
My sister graduated six months pregnant. She was literally the most popular girl in school and an honors student so it was a big deal when it became obvious she was preggo. The real scandal (apparently) was that she went to the prom with a baby bump and got voted prom queen. Outraged parents went to the principle and insisted he de-throne her, but he was like this is who the kids voted for, whadya want from me? She did very obviously get passed over for a scholar-athlete award though. The teachers were really awkward about the whole thing. The Bio teacher's hands would shake whenever he handed her back a test paper lol.
R Kelly’s victim was in my German class. A kid pretended to be carjacked and kidnapped so he could use his parents car to drive to Nashville for a concert. Police were called when he didn’t come home that night and all hands were on deck. People were out looking for him in the woods and what not. It was in the local news . If memory serves me right He faced zero consequences.
4 kids skipped school and broke into a guy's house. Happened to find a pistol in the guys bedroom. The kids were playing with it and accidentally killed one of the girls.
Didn’t shake out until years later but we had a male choir teacher who was very creepy and there was no interaction between him and the guys where the vibes weren’t completely off.
He’s now in state prison for assault of a young boy and recording another under age male while that kid was staying with him.
Kids need to be encouraged to trust their intuition always
A guy named James got 2 girls pregnant at the same time. Each one thought they were exclusive with him. A rumor came around that he was also sleeping with the mom of one of them, though obviously I can't validate that.
They both had the babies.
One of my best friends (we were nerds) that used to pick me up for school everyday went out one night and got into a speeding car accident and killed a man. That man was the uncle of the QB for our high school football team. Needless to say that things weren’t good for him the rest of high school.
One student sexually assaulted and then strangled his ex girlfriend, another student. Tried to hide her body under some leaves, but one of his friends felt guilty and told his mom.
Last time I checked he was still in prison, but was due for parole soon.

Science teacher was fired and put on the sex offender registry after a former student sued the school district claiming he sexually harassed and assaulted her. The rumor was that the affair was happening while she was a student and when she graduated, she assumed he would leave his wife for her. He rejected that notion, she filed a lawsuit out of spite.
Gym teacher shot her ex-girlfriend, who was the retired drama teacher, and the ex’s new girlfriend. One of the victims died and the other was paralyzed. Gym teacher went to prison.
A group of students beat and suffocated a student from another school, buried his body in a shallow grave, and dropped his car off in a bad neighborhood so it would look like a carjacking. At least one of them started talking, and they were all arrested, on campus, in less than a week. I left one period early that year (only needed 5 classes each semester to graduate), and I remember seeing the police van parked in front of the school as I was leaving, and I wondered if people were getting arrested for fighting or something. It was definitely or something.
A few teachers/staff were grooming students and running cover for each other. Other staff knew, the admins knew, a ton of the students knew.
The fallout was: one guidance counselor was quietly let go over the summer and all the students who were aware of what was going on were told that if we said anything about it then we wouldn't get our diplomas or be able to walk at graduation and the administration would inform the colleges we were going to that we were sexist, homophobic, and antisemitic and that the victims "were just boys".
We had two very well liked teachers who were married. Like super lovely, did the school plays together, were everyone's favourites. In my senior year, they split up because the wife was having an affair with a female student! Her husband took a year off and travelled and ended up hanging out in a ski town and taking ecstacy with former students, who were friends of mine.
Early 2000 a bomb threat note was found on the floor in a hallway. We had the next day off and then came back on Monday to cops and metal detectors. It was believed by many that it was a senior prank.
The first head teacher (principal to Americans) left under a cloud of racism accusations, with the target being a specific black teacher.
Before the head either left or was fired, the older kids had organised protests and class walk outs and us younger kids got caught up in all the excitement.
I never did get the full story behind it. I never had the teacher at the centre of this (and think he was gone in my later years) and we kids only really saw heads/deputies at assemblies now and again.
Each year group in my school had a separate head of year, that was the highest authority figure kids and parents usually dealt with.
In 1991, Robinson was the center of an LSD trafficking scandal in which a drug ring sold more than 100,000 doses of LSD over two years. The ring was exposed when a 16-year-old Robinson student shot and wounded a Fairfax police officer. The biggest scandal that only I knew about because I worked as a pharmacy tech in highschool was that the French teacher slept around, like a lot. Like enough that she went through 12 morning after pills a month because she didn't take birth control. And she had chlamydia 4 times one year.
I mean, before 9/11 took a few student's parents, (I live on Long Island, lots of folks worked in the towers) there was a street race gone horrifically wrong, with two students, boyfriend/girlfriend, racing on a local road.
GF lost control and died, BF was absolutely devastated, blamed himself, and honestly I think he dropped out/went to therapy (I hope...).
Later on shortly after the end of my senior year, on Christmas Eve a drunk driver killed a friend of mine and we all went to the funeral... that was the closest thing we had to a highschool reunion.
so... you can imagine why we didn't really have any reunions or anything like that.
Teacher allegedly slept with a student. The facts kind of lined up and he did look really guilty. Didn't have tenure and was let go.
A year later he was arrested for sleeping with his girlfriends underage daughter. So most likely he was already guilty of it priorly.
A year later another teacher was accused of trying to sleep with a student in a quid pro quo situation about grades. Teacher was similarly let go but everyone had their doubts as nothing really lined up or checked out.
Year later the truth came out and the girl made it all up because she was mad about her bad grade.
The band teacher was having sex with one of his students. He only got fired, no legal action, which I can't imagine would have been the outcome today.
On a less salacious note, some of the school's top students stole copies of the second half of a standardized test during the break. Everybody's results were thrown out, including mine, which sucked as I was not involved at all and in fact did not like the kids who did it.
The principal called a kid’s house to inform his parents he’d been suspended. The parents weren’t home so he left a message on the answering machine. Principal did his spiel professionally and hung up, but he didn’t actually hang up. The answering machine ended up with a five minute recording of the principal and his two VPs tearing this kid apart and making fun of his last name. He got fired.

There was also a student teacher who secretly dated a student then went on to marry her after she graduated, but that was more 20 year old meets 17 year old... inappropriate and wrong, but not as bad as 40- something married man banging his sons' classmates.

My middle school principal got caught talking a no show job from the county Sheriff. The money was extorted from my best friend's dad's salary to pay him.
Girls basketball coach was arrested for flashing his penis to people at garage sales. He would wear short shorts with no underwear and kneel down pretending to look at items for sale. He would hit multiple garage sales a morning.
A group of kids beat up and seriously injured a kid from a rival high school after a football game, on our school campus. Used to babysit for the little brother of one of the kids who did the beating. He turned out okay afaik but was a wild kid to babysit (chased another kid with a machete once, shot me with an airsoft gun once, among other things).
A teacher and a building sub met up with senior girls on spring break.
Another teacher in a relationship with a student. They tried to make up a story to cover that one up.
One of the new kids came into school and started selling CDs to people.. turns out he was stealing them from Kmart. Public scandal ensued ... the local newspaper published an expose and introduced me to the term "fencing ring"
Prior to me going there, our mascot was a confederate soldier. The school realized they needed to change this and put the outgoing senior class in charge of creating the new mascot. “The Rabble Rouser” was clearly a set of fuzzy blue balls. We had a pair of testicles as our mascot for a few years. My senior year, they changed it again, but my class did not get to take charge. Now they are just “The Pride.” Lions are not nearly as entertaining.
Popular athlete killed himself, really sad. Hot new teacher banged a couple students. She was quietly removed. One dude after graduating murdered his mom and later killed himself in prison. Guy was a psycho so that surprised nobody.
The husband of our vice principal stormed into the school board, walked into the president's office, punched him in the face, knocked him out of his chair, and told him to keep his fucking hands off his wife.

A girl in a heat passion at a house party turned a couch a certain let’s just say darker colour. It was a scandal cause it was our English teacher’s daughter and everyone was talking about it.
We had two. First, A female student’s parents caught her having sex with a female PE teacher. The fact that it was a lesbian relationship was more scandalous than the fact a teacher and a student were caught having sex.
Second. We had a civics teacher perpwalked out of school at around lunchtime in handcuffs for selling weed to students.
We were a troubled school, and we went through a succession of principals. Finally got one who was universally respected, by faculty and students alike, and it seemed like he was going to stick around.
He got put away because he was paying elementary-school-aged boys for sex, plying them with alcohol and coke. I don't remember if he had kiddie porn too, but you kind of expect it at that point.
Some shit went down at my old HS after I graduated.
Best thing I have from when I was there was a couple kids wanted to recreate columbine on the anniversary of it at our school. They were caught beforehand though. However the rumor was that there was an un-arrested student who still wanted to carry out the attack so on that day like half the school stayed home. I went.
Add to that there was a weather event on that day which suddenly required us to all go to the smaller of our two gyms to shelter. This had never happened before so a lot of us were freaked out thinking something was going on.
Now after I graduated a volleyball assistant had sex with a student and the head volleyball coach (who I had a class with at some point) was criminally charged but found not guilty of failing to report their relationship. She was then allowed to return to work at the school.
From what I saw her acquittal is kind of questionable. Basically she knew the two of them where inappropriately snuggling a lot but I guess she claimed to not know they were having sex.
I kind of found the excuse lame and it ticks me off that she got hired back at the school.
I went to a an all boys Catholic high school.
One of our priests (who was also a teacher) ran off with the lunch lady and they ended up getting married.
There was briefly a website that posted what we would now call blind items Gossip Girl style about stuff going on at the school.
I don't remember anything super scandalous being posted, but it clearly freaked enough people out that it became its own scandal. I think it lasted just a couple of weeks before it was shut down.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know that I ever found out who was behind it.

guy that ran the theater tech program was always slightly creepy around female students. a few years after we graduated it came out he was sleeping with an underage student was fired and arrested.

The football coach impregnated a cheerleader. She was 17. He was 45 and married. No consequences. He moved to another state to be a Junior High principal.
1 of my friends got busted selling weed, acid, and a few other things on school property. It put the rest of our friends group under the watchful eye of the administration and school resource officer.
When questioned, he gave the cops the names of 4-5 people he got his stuff from. When the rumor-mill got ahold of that info, the list had grown to several hundred people within a week.
Rumors that a teacher had inappropriate relationships with female students. He vehemently denied the rumors, then later divorced his wife and married one of the students. She had graduated and was 18 by the time they married, but everything started way before then.
A few years later he moved to another school district and SURPRISE, rumors at the new school too. When the district started an investigation he resigned from the job. He is still married to the former student from my class, but I have no idea what he's doing for work now.
Bomb scare. The kid sat at my lunch table. He was a typical white thug kind of kid; had a big mouth, but it was a nothing burger. The school was cancelled for a day, though.
One kid died in a car accident, he was the passenger and only slightly inebriated. The driver was moreso. The driver went off the road at a turn and hit a tree. He was knocked out from the impact. The passenger walked to a nearby house, asked for help, and 911 was called. He thought he was ok just banged up a bit. The passenger died from internal injuries while waiting for the ambulance. It did arrive in time to rescue the driver who would have died if it had been a few minutes longer.
After I graduated there were a few others while my brother was attending. Our assistant soccer coach/drama teacher was forced to resign after people found out he was gay, which was obvious and well known to all the students. He hadn't done anything inappropriate. One of our chemistry teachers was terminated after she jokingly told a student to not come to her class stoned unless they brought some for her. I worked with her roommate and hung out with them some. While she did partake, it was only on Friday and Saturday evenings. It was 100% a joke where she said it without thinking.
During my freshmen year, my future 11th grade English teacher called in multiple bomb threats during the winter of 96 after being out on leave for his alcoholism (he was later put on leave during my senior year for his drinking).
There was also an incident where several male students sodomized another male student who was in the special education class.
Less a scandal and more scandalous, but two girls in my graduating class got into a huge fight over some guy during graduation practice.

She was the TA for my class with him, and she would get away with outrageous things and now we know why!

We had a bomb threat shortly after Columbine happened. Some kid scribbled it on the wall. We were on lockdown the entire day while police combed the building. I was in auto shop, and the teacher let us smoke upstairs in the tool crib because we were all very clearly stressed from the situation. Me and one other guy were the only two that had smokes on us, so of course everybody came running with their hand out.
