What’s the best reason to have kids?

Having kids seems like a pretty dire option in the UK right now. The economic situation either makes both parents work to support the lifestyle and children therefore not spending time with the kids. Or it makes one parent step back from a career to be a full time carer but therefore putting pressure on the other caregiver to provide financially.
I’ve seen so many friends have kids for selfish reasons. Whether that’s trying to fix a relationship/ fill a void/ family pressures.
Obviously they bring so much joy - but again that feel selfish if I’m only bringing them into the world so I can feel joy.
Please let me know some unselfish reasons to raise kids in the UK despite the economic pressures on a normal couple. Would love to hear from those who decided not to have children too.
