How would the media tell us if there was a dangerous weather situation unfolding?

It seems like, these days, every time it's going to be a bit rainy/ windy/ snowy the headlines read things like "danger to life as apocalyptic gales set to SLAM the UK" or "snowpocalypse threatens to BURY Britain is 7-meters of snow". It's got me wondering whether this could set up a "boy who cried" wolf situation. How do you think the headlines would read if there actually was going to be a significantly dangerous weather event?
