Stop Code: MEMORY MANAGEMENT (0x1A)

Hey all, I'm not sure if this subreddit or some tech support subreddit would be best for this kind of question... But seeing as this involves installing new RAM, and people here would be more likely to face this kind of issue, here we go.
Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 3600
I've had 2 dominator RAM sticks for almost two years I think and never had any issues. A month ago, I bought 2 more sticks of the same RAM, same clock frequency, and installed it. For almost a week, I think the system ran fine under these 4 sticks. At least, I don't recall seeing the issue I'm about to discuss. Around the end of the week, I started getting a black screen of death with the message Stop Code: MEMORY MANAGEMENT (0x1A). Over the course of the month, I think I've been able to pinpoint the following:
- This crash happens exactly once, until the next shutdown-startup sequence. Meaning if I startup the PC, it will happen at some point, the PC will restart, and then it will not happen again.
- This crash does not happen until I open firefox or some game (e.g. CS, RS3, WuWa). Not sure if other things can trigger it. But if I stare at my desktop, it doesn't seem to happen.
- Sometimes, I start my PC and leave. I come back to my lock screen, login, and the issue doesn't happen at all. There is a chance it does happen while I'm gone and the PC just restarts, I don't know.
So the summary is: it happens exactly once and it seems to be triggered by running certain software. From researching, it seems this issue can happen from faulty memory or faulty disk.
- I've done a disk scan for all disks of my system, which showed all sectors to be healthy.
- I attempted to run Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and got a Hardware problems were detected. I waited for the scan to finish and my system to restart, give results, only to get the blue Recovery screen with an Error Code: 0xc000009a.
I was still able to boot into my system after this, but obviously unable to see the test results from the WMDT. And please note, I did perform dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and sfc /scannow, with them not really resolving the issue (despite them fixing system files). Also note, I've reinstalled and verified files of the software involved, so this is not a corrupt software issue.
Has anyone come across this issue? What can I do from here?

I had to lower my ram speed from 6000 to 5600 in the bios and I was finally able to boot past the multiple black screen of deaths. I’ve had this ram kit for 1 year and a half and it must’ve been a recent windows update that caused the instability.
Kezazelius@reddit
Happened to me as well, just today for the first time. Happened twice then windows restarted immediately after. Pc is 5 months old
Kezazelius@reddit
It seems to be fixed once i uninstalled the windows update released on 28/4/26. MICROSOFT!!!!
unu808@reddit
Same issue here after updating windows yesterday
Kezazelius@reddit
Guys the issue came back but i was able to resolve it by lowering ram speed from 6000 to 5600. There hasn't been no crashes in a few days.
unu808@reddit
That's the one. I did exactly the same thing. Dropping the xmp from 6000 to 5600, no crashes since then. Honestly speaking I see zero difference in performance even under heavy load and streaming.
NotSoAtomiiic@reddit
how do you lower ram speed?
Kezazelius@reddit
Usually you go to the bios qnd reduce the dram frequency. Mine without EXPo turned on is like 4800 and with EXPO is 6000. Im using dual 16gb ram btw. I started with turning off EXPO altogether in BIOS and then kept adjusting until i found a working speed. I had errors when doing memtest with 6000mhz but was fine at 5600 and below. Im not the most technically knowledgable person but for me personally that seems to have fixed the issue. Hope it helps!
Deadwood_Jawn@reddit
Ah you guys too? I had the page fault error a week or two before this. The mem error happened todah though. Suggests it's an update from a common OS or software we all use, I reckon.. Still, I oughta check the memtest stuff. Good practice an all that
NotSoAtomiiic@reddit
let me know if you find a fix for this! i am having the same issue as everyone else
Deadwood_Jawn@reddit
No RAM issues detected. Honestly I'm too busy for this shit lmao, I might just rollback the update if this happens again
Whole-Associate420@reddit
Mine as well arc raider after this recent update and crash, been happening to a friend as well Al lathe test are smooth and I play other games just fine I’m not sure but before the update it was fine. Don’t update your pc!
WesternAlarmed2149@reddit
Problem is how to stop them ? If i ignore them a few times it will automatically update at some point

Hi! Were you able to fix it? I'm going through the exact same thing with an Asus netbook. It came with 40GB of RAM. I had a very similar problem with strange crashes that increased over time. I went crazy formatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows, but even that didn't fix the error. From what I can see, your problem is almost the same as mine. I also had the same error and some others that seem to be related to the RAM. Were you able to fix it?
falcon_m55@reddit
Same situation here. I tried everything. I changed RAM slots, reset BIOS settings, formatted the system, reinstalled Windows, and updated the BIOS. I even tested different configurations and ran the RAM without XMP at the base frequency.
The problem started when I bought another 2x8 GB kit. It was the same model as my original RAM, but a different generation because my exact one was no longer available. At first, everything worked perfectly. I had 32 GB and the system felt smooth and stable.
After I upgraded the CPU, everything changed. Crashes started happening randomly. Sometimes during normal use, sometimes under load. It even reached a point where the system crashed three times in a row with three different error codes, which made it harder to track the cause.
It feels like the new CPU became more sensitive to mixing RAM kits, even though they share the same model. I also tried lowering the frequency and running everything at default settings, but the instability stayed.
I am still searching for a solution, and I will not give up until I fix it.

Same here. Now have 4 sticks of 8 GB. Been gaming since Friday without issues and now suddenly been having issues today with a blue screen of death giving the management code. Would be very interested in a solution!
vyepogchamp@reddit
Would it have something to do with a recent Windows update? I just got it for the first time in years of owning my device and was launching Firefox while having Valorant open which led to this. I did change my RAM but that was years ago!
BunnyRabbitme@reddit
so, is this a windows update issue? because even I started encountering this error just from 2-3 weeks.
Every-Pea-6014@reddit
I honestly don't know what the problem is, but it's very strange that it's happening to several people at the same time. I recently removed the 32GB RAM module from my netbook and it works, but as soon as I put the 32GB back in, it gives the error again.
BunnyRabbitme@reddit
Tbh, right before the first error occurred, I changed the ram & core allocation of LD player from 6 cores, 6gb to 4 cores, 4gb. The change which I made is a reasonable change, also I was allocation lesser ram & cores for the emulator which shouldn't have been a problem. But the error occurred multiple times. I tried uninstalling the emulator and for 2 days the error wasnt there, when I reinstalled it, the error resurfaced. So, what I did is, try and uninstall the emulator again. It was fine for 2 more days. In the meanwhile, I started facing major stutters while gaming. I thought it might be because of the recent game update. The error resurfaced again even though the emulator was uninstalled. This time, I felt like the problem was real. I tried some fixes from yt/reddit which didnt work and most of them stated that RAM might have failed if those hot fixes didnt work. All the RAM tests came out positive as well. My RAM has a total of 10 years warranty, remaining left was 5 years. As a last resort before going for a RAM inspection by the service center, I reset my pc(not deleting all the data, but just the apps and reverting to default settings). Its been 8 days since the pc reset and not once I got the error since and no more stuttering while gaming. Later, I found out that this error is a bit common while using emulators, something to do with virtualization.
NextReference3248@reddit
Did you solve it?
For me, this didn't happen until I upgraded from Windows 10 to 11.
DecentEducator7436@reddit (OP)
Somehow, after ingoring it and dealing with it for a month or so, the issue disappeared. Must've been a windows update, NVIDIA update, iCUE update, or something else. But I'm suspicious that it was a software-triggered issue... Especially given that memtest showed absolutely no issue with any of the RAMs and that the issue happened exactly once a day.
atto035@reddit
I just ran into this problem just now, thanks for this, will do the steps you guys did though to check if my Asus tuf a15 laptop did really have ram issues
SBNShovelSlayer@reddit
This just started happening to me a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be happening to a number of people. My desktop is about six years old, so I thought that possibly one of the two 8gb sticks were failing. Based upon the number of recent occurrences, I wonder if it is a Windows issue.
DecentEducator7436@reddit (OP)
Most likely.
Mountain-Ad1044@reddit
This also happens to me now :/
Octoberlol@reddit
Had this happening. Used MemTest86 to test my ram and it returned errors. Then took out all ram sticks but 1 and ran the test again until I figured out which stick was causing the errors, and replaced it.

Thanks, this helps. Issue is, I no longer have the RAM packaging unfortunately. Do you think I'd still be able to return it to Amazon?
