Any recommendation for kitchen companies? Would you recommend Wren?

Hi. My partner and I are looking to get the kitchen redone in the house we have just bought. We had a design consultation with Wren and are quite happy with the design. The kitchen is quite small so want to make sure we are maximising the space. I’ve seen online that some people are saying to avoid Wren, but most people seem to only mention the fitter they use. So we’d probably be looking to get a local joiner to fit it. Has anyone used Wren for their kitchen and would you recommend it? If using a local joiner instead of Wren’s, were you happy with the delivery and quality of units for the price?

We were going to go for a wren kitchen, then chatting with a few people in the trades, the over ridding view is that they should re-brand themselves to "When". Our fitter had 4 half finished or postponed jobs on wren kitchens due to partial or failed deliveries at the time of doing ours. Ultimately we went through the builder to Howden's

No problems with then, since they already had a relationship with the builder and kitchen fitter anything that came up was resolved before I was home from work.

Problem with Wren is exactly what you said, they don't employ their own fitters but rather contract out to self-employed fitters. Many of them are great, most of them will be good enough, but the small number who are shit ruin it for everybody. I know half a dozen people who have used Wren and only one of them has had issues, but the issues he had dragged on for months and months.

I work in administration for tradesmen. Every single one of them say avoid Wren. Any other kitchen installer except Wren. They are awful. I personally had a new kitchen fitted Feb 2025, designed by Wickes, and installed by one of their registered contracting companies and was reasonably satisfied. The only thing that went wrong was my own fault and not theirs.

Wren don’t pay company sick pay, and as a result I know of employees of theirs who have had to choose between life saving chemotherapy and homelessness. They don’t deserve your business.
