So i took a bolt taxi and at the end of my trip he made me pay 200€ for a 20 minute ride. I refused and he threatened me and violently got me out of the car after dropping me and making me pay. I forgot my bag with the passport there. I unfortunately couldn’t book Bolt with the app because it the app was not working and the Bolt Team! I contacted Bolt but they can’t see that a taxi was booked. What can i do now?

If you have Timeline turned on on Google maps, you can exactly tell where did you go with your taxi, and with all that methods mentioned, they can help you

Sadly, basically nothing if you didn't book in the app and can't remember the license plate. File a police report and contact your embassy for the passport.

If OP contacts the authorities and tell them as much information as possible, they MIGHT be able to find the car and the possibly the driver. As I said, the city is full of cameras. Especially in the city centre, there is at least one in every corner, so there is at least SOME chance that one of them recorded OP getting in or out the cab. On the other hand, if OP does nothing, then of course nothing happens.

Recently a bunch of fake bolt taxis popped up in Budapest (most of the are using stolen Bolt Taxi lights) and the only way to not get scammed by them is to order a taxi through the application. If you ordered the taxi from the app and a driver accepted it there is no way for them to know your destination without starting the trip. If they started the trip, the Bolt team will 110% know who was the driver but even if the driver canceled the trip right after you enter their car and asked you for the destination, the Bolt team should be able to tell who was the driver because it would show up as a canceled ride.

yeah, there's nothing you can do if you didn't actually book the cab in the bolt app and just hailed it from the street. file a police report. (i would speculate you didn't get a bolt taxi but a freelancer)

I suspect that too. I had a similar incident where I was with 2 friends coming from a party early in the morning and a random guy pulled over acting as a cab driver and said he can drive us to our location. My friend ended up paying approx 20k HUF for a ride that barely lasted 10 minutes. In my case we had to pay because the circumstances dictated so and we didn’t want to make a big fuss. Lots of scams going on in this city and some of these scammers can be quite aggressive, I wish the police cracked down on these scams.

There are fake taxis in budapest that look like Bolt but are just a guy looking to prey on tourists. Never get into a taxi unless you have hailed it in advance through their app on your phone and you can see their license plate to verify it is the same one they send.

Whit bolt its easier to pay and open a support tickrt / claim about the issue, and they will check and refund it. I had a similar case last year, the diszance betweem A and B was 4 km, but the driver choosed a route what was more than 10km, bolt support reviewed it and they told me that route is not realistic.

Bolt is saying that they can’t see a route. He probably did something to not make it visible to the system that they use to track the routes.

In this case that ride was not booked in bolt. There are no other way, to hide the ride from bolt, bcs they pay to the taxi deiver based on that.

You did not book it via the Bolt app, so they will not see the route. The taxi driver is a sub-contractor to Bolt and not an employee. If you hail them on the street they don’t need to report that fare to Bolt. Never-ever hail a taxi in Budapest, you will be scammed.
