Driver survived but is in critical condition.
Toybasher@reddit
Late but is there any update on the driver's condition? I hope he survived. That was a horrific crash and the "after" clip with the wreckage burning is nerve-wracking.
Ok_Read908@reddit (OP)
I have not, but hopefully in good health🫶🏻🫶🏻

Ejecto Seato cuz
Lane8323@reddit
One of the most bizarre videos I’ve seen. Did he run over the barrels on purpose?
samureyejacque@reddit
Definitely looked like it. But let's say there's a glare and he didn't see them. You seriously didn't feel those??
joecee97@reddit
He felt them. That’s why he started looking around and in his mirrors. It seems like he thought he ran something over and was now past it. Nothing else to avoid. No clue why though
AdventurousAbility30@reddit
His seat is WAY too low for his height. Look at how high his elbow has to reach just to sit it on the window frame. I bet he could hardly see over the steering wheel.
arrynyo@reddit
Hammer down Henry in his Pete says that's how you're supposed to have your seat or you're not a real trucker.
AdventurousAbility30@reddit
Yeah, I've seen this trend happening more often in the past few years.
arrynyo@reddit
Then they put that visor thing on that covers 90% of the windshield
fordry@reddit
I've ridden with people putting their seat all the way down. I don't get it.
And then you've got all these dumbbells talking about their blind spots...
Well ya, when you don't properly position yourself to see everything you're going to have blindspots. When your eyes are barely seeing over the steering wheel you're going to have blind spots.
matpol98@reddit
Same trend here in Norway (and guess rest of europe) too, people will buy aftermarket chairmounts that basicly puts the chair directly down to the floor... Preferable without having air in the seat too
AdventurousAbility30@reddit
I remember the first time I drove a cab over. I felt like the king of the road with the sight lines I suddenly had. This poor guy wouldn't even have been able to see over his dashboard unless he stood up. It's such a useless death for the industry. My heart goes out to his family
BearsAteMyGarbage@reddit
We have a 1990 FL at our work that is just the worst thing to drive ever as a tall person. Every time I drive it I still can't believe it even made it past the assembly line the mirrors and everything are so godawful you're basically blind while driving if you're over 6' tall and don't want your knees touching your forehead while you drive. Nothing can be adjusted more than half an inch to fit your vision. Blows my mind.
fordry@reddit
I've never driven an fl but I drove Columbia and century class and both of those the height I wanted to sit at had the top of the windshield too low. Had to sorta crouch to see out properly. Not the greatest.
Volvo and Western Star 5700xe have both had great views.
EducationalStill4@reddit
Is there an IQ test that accompanies the standard trucking test?
NorthDriver8927@reddit
It’s better for looking way down the road.
LikeSomeWigger@reddit
So you can't see what's in front of you?
Calm down on the window licking brother.
NorthDriver8927@reddit
I got 25 years hauling. I run air in the seat in the bush and down low on the highway so I can read the road. It’s a big deal when a moose steps out looking through your windows
AdventurousAbility30@reddit
Yeah there's nothing worse than hitting a moose. They're massive. Saw one swimming through the lake on a fishing trip and when it came out of the water it was taller than the 4 wheeler we were driving. Also saw one step out of the forest almost onto the road, definitely would have caused some damage.
NewAlexandria@reddit
This absolutely makes sense for how the video happened.
Summersong2262@reddit
By the time you're feeling them it'd be too late.
Sushimaven@reddit
It didn't seem like it was too late. It seems like he didn't even attempt to slow down after hitting them.
YjorgenSnakeStranglr@reddit
He definitely had time to dive into the shoulder
Reddit_Is_a_jokee@reddit
At no point did his brain register to slow down.
Smokeman_14@reddit
He’s too low. He’s not wearing his seat belt. He seems to be intentionally driving because he’s checking his mirrors to see if anyone sees him. I bet he thought it was a shortcut
muck2profit@reddit
That's tunnel vision
Islanderwithwings@reddit
Driving too fast in construction zone. I saw him steer slightly to the right before he hit that block in the middle. Could be lag input from fatigue. Or under the influence of something.
NomadFire@reddit
I guess the barriers were set up to push him to the emergency lane of the road. But there was an opening and he thought he was supposed to turn left????? No matter one dude was going way too fast given the situation.
enjoi130@reddit
41mph isn’t WaY ToO fast.
mad_titans_bastard@reddit
Looks like they were set up to push him into the emergency room
Summersong2262@reddit
'Set up' is doing a lot of work there. Yeah, he was going too fast, although I wonder given the crappy state of the site, there was an absence of proper signage letting drivers know they were expected to leave the road.
NomadFire@reddit
Yea you ain't wrong, the road grew really set up an unfair situation. Might only have made sense what to do with hind sight.
tehgimpage@reddit
maybe.. it would explain why he glances over like that... but surely he'd be slowing down there if he thought he was about to make a left?
NomadFire@reddit
Seems like he might be driving into the sun a bit. Maybe
amazingmaple@reddit
That's what I was thinking.
potsour@reddit
following the GPS
Flavoade@reddit
A Swift driver did something similar earlier this month. The complete front axle with wheels stopped dead in its tracks at the front of the barrier. The rest of the truck and trailer just kept going about 40 yards. Driver had no injuries
TheMetalWolf@reddit
I know we all like to bitch and moan how much better older vehicles used to be, but in terms of surviving crashes, new cars and trucks are incredible.
TruckeronI5@reddit
Looks like his face went through the dash at mach 12, Pretty sure he was gone on impact. Driver error.
rilloroc@reddit
I wouldn't say it was driver error. Looked like he was going exactly where he wanted to
highclassfire@reddit
It looks like he didn’t want to survive
i_was_axiom@reddit
My man couldn't give less of a fuck until after the point of impact, what the hell?
Kindly_Region@reddit
"This road sure is bumpy today"
jose_guapo_@reddit
Did he just say f these medians?
Slater_8868@reddit
To those of you saying it's because of the sun, when he's wearing sunglasses, the sun visor is down, and you can see the shadow vs sun on his shirt. The sun is nowhere near his eyes.
Megamodpod@reddit
Must have been the wind
biggie_ballzzz@reddit
Well at least it wasn’t a bunch of cars and innocent people
Victorious1MOB@reddit
Yikes brother, wonder what type of distraction caused this... hope that driver survives.
KeyAdept1982@reddit
That guy is dead dead
LyubviMashina93@reddit
This is horrendous roadwork. No signage. No signals. No warnings. Just sparse barriers in the middle of the road.
geneticdeadender@reddit
No seatbelt.
Edge2110@reddit
That probably what actually saved his life
Emotional-Computer66@reddit
Buddy ate a 1/4 of the steering wheel and the dash. yikes.
Wrong_Year_5406@reddit
He wasnt even wearing his seatbelt
Transcend_Suffering@reddit
pretty sure that should say accidente terrible.....
OldBike67@reddit
bummer, looks like he was just zoning out
Jerm_DaGnome@reddit
Was there also no signage leading up to this part of the road?
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
He thought he still worked for Swift and was picking up bonus points for every object he hit, until the Jersey Wall when reality hit
confusedbystupidity@reddit
His head smashed into that dash... you can see one frame...
RiseofdaOatmeal@reddit
The fuck was he thinking? Man thought he was getting bonus points for every marker he hit
YukonDude64@reddit
The sun MIGHT have been glaring. Not an excuse for stupidity but he might have had a vision issue
confusedbystupidity@reddit
So he didnt hear the thumps of each orange barrier he took out...🤔
I understand the sunblind, while wearing sunglasses... but it doesn't make you deaf or unable to feel each impact...
YukonDude64@reddit
As I said, not an excuse for stupidity
Torta_Eater999@reddit
Yooo where’s the seat belt no mames
ElectronicGarden5536@reddit
Why are you even asking that if you ended with a no mames? You already know the answer.
EnoughLuck3077@reddit
He had his safety sandals on so it’s okay
YetAnotherJake@reddit
He doesnt need it with that vest on, guey
waltk918@reddit
¿Estás seguro, vato?
Meatball546@reddit
El pendejo andando.
Cadillacwalt@reddit
Holy shit! He just vanished!
nattwentylife@reddit
It’s insane how insensitive and stupid some of these comments are. It’s clear the man didn’t notice and was having vision issues and had his mind elsewhere cause you can see when he finally realizes what he’s doing. The glare from the sun on days like this is brutal and sometimes worse than dense fog. I hope he makes a full recovery. Terrible way to almost die, just trying to earn a living.
SashaDabinsky@reddit
It was all fun and games running over berraels, but not so fun when he hit those concrete jersey barriers. Idiot.
Ok_Read908@reddit (OP)
Same thing i said looks avoidable but who knows.
Summersong2262@reddit
I assume he didn't want to go left because that would involve smashing into more things, and going right would take him off-road, but he didn't notice that they turned into concrete barriers further along.
norseprincesspdx@reddit
Oof the face hitting the dashboard
DieselDrifter@reddit
What was he thinking, nothing apparently.
lord_nuker@reddit
Looks very intentional as you can see he is aiming for the concrete barrier
TheBuddha777@reddit
Suicide?
Wanderingwonderer101@reddit
why does he looked so relaxed going straight at it though?
MonkeyDxn@reddit
Almost looked intentional
riah8@reddit
Yeah like idk wtf he was doing besides trying to hit them.... On camera too.
DukeBradford2@reddit
That guy was going to kill someone else on the road if he that clueless. At least nobody else had to pay for his stupidity
