That fits. The M Crowd people know how to do mediocre quite well.

sounds like you don’t know how to find good nachos in DFW if Mi cocina and its overpriced nachos are the best that you can find. Can’t help you with that. Guessing you’re a transplant?

Born and raised. In my 40's. Parents are from Mexico, I'm Hispanic, so I was raised on authentic Mexican food. You're just a primadonna. Really hard to screw up a nacho. It's really not that big a deal, it's corn chips, beans, fajita chicken, quac and sour cream with some pico.

Haven't been to Mi Cocina in probably 15 years. Went twice in like 6 months and both times the (male) waiters refused to make eye contact with my wife and teenage daughter, expecting me, the "dad" to order for them. Two separate occasions, two different waiters. There's plenty of mid-range Mexican / Tex-Mex that doesn't come with a heaping helping of misogyny.

Mi Cocina’s food is ok. I just stopped going there when I discovered that one of the owners (Washburne) held a fundraiser for trump and served on various trump-appointed groups. I do my best to not support anything related to trump.

Mi Cocina parent company M Crowd bought Razzoo's Cajun Cafe. The deal closed Dec. 29, 2025. Razzoo’s, the Cajun restaurant chain that started in Dallas in 1991 and filed for bankruptcy in 2025, has been purchased by North Texas company M Crowd. M Crowd — which owns Mi Cocina, The Mercury and Vaqueros Texas Bar-B-Q — bid $18.8 million for Razzoo’s, according to documents from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. The deal closed Dec. 29, 2025, after M Crowd purchased the Cajun restaurant chain’s $9.6 million in debt from First Horizon Bank weeks earlier. M Crowd was named the stalking horse bidder for Razzoo’s in December 2025.

What this article isn’t telling you is that M Crowd decided to close 11 of the 22 restaurants, and called all the GMs on Christmas Eve to tell them they’re fired come Monday. If they told a soul, they’d lose their job immediately. One GM was even threatened to lose accrued PTO payout if they warned staff. Razzoo’s is a shit company. They went bankrupt because the C-suite overpaid themselves, bloated the corporate offices with redundancy positions (for instance, they had more marketing personnel than Chili’s), overpaid for point-of-sale (Oracle, for Christ’s sake), and showed a general detachment from the reality of running a restaurant. Frankly, I’m surprised they made it this long, but their sales kept up until COVID. They just didn’t know how to adjust to life after the pandemic, which reshaped the restaurant industry as a whole. The M Crowd is a special kind of evil. These people couldn’t be bothered to wait until after the holiday to lay people off, and instead thought they’d torture management through threats over Christmas so that they could milk revenue from those 11 stores over the last few days they operated. There’s “business is business” and then there’s this kind of putrid behavior. M Crowd can get fucked.

Ages ago Pappadeaux had a redonk over the top frozen hurricane monstrosity of a cocktail called the swamp thing. They may still, I haven't been in ages. This was a ridiculous drink with 4 or 5 different day glow color layers. Ordering a second was a ticket to getting hammered.

Man I haven’t thought about the swamp thang in ages. That was the last time I was so drunk when I closed my eyes I was spinning and couldn’t keep them closed! So crazy. I had to make myself vomit so I could actually go to sleep! No one explained it only tasted like no alcohol was included. I drank 2. Never did that again!

Way back in the day I waited tables at the original Pappadeaux location in Houston, and we really had to keep an eye on that. You could just see who was going to get in trouble with those. Sure tastes great and goes down easy though.

Everything at Razoos tastes exactly the same. Tastes like they have a giant vat of batter, toss in frozen chunks of ten different kinds of animals, then dump it all in a fryer

View on Reddit #74640163

arlenroy@reddit

It really does, I can't speak on the chicken fried steak, I never thought to have that at Razzoos. Last time I went it was as good as expected, not really bad, but not really good either. Granted, as I hurdle towards middle-age my palate drastically changes, when I was younger I thought anything deep fried was delicious. Same thing goes with booze, a ranch water is about as hard as I can get, those wild ass giant drinks could possibly kill me. I might not consume those foods anymore but there's a segment of the population that does, and its another opportunity for people involved in the service industry to work. That's the important part.

I've been curious about that. I see them on the menu at some traditional Mexican places and have wondered if they're only on the menu for people in groups that don't want to eat Mexican or if there was something special about Mexican hamburgers.

I like Razzoos but the one near me constantly gets or order wrong in a slightly suspicious way. You'd order the lunch special, be clear to say the lunch special and be there during lunch then when you got the check say oh well we brought you the dinner sized portion so it's the dinner price. That happened twice even a row even confirming on the 2nd visit that we ordered the lunch special when the order was placed. So we stopped going for lunch. We went for dinner and ordered the basket and they brought out the platter which we caught but then they were like oh well we can't just take back the extra food, we'd have to redo the whole plate so why don't you just keep the platter then and that's what we'll charge you for. Or one person can wait 10 minutes to redo their meal while everyone else eats. We also got charged for an drink we never got on that visit but at that point we just wanted to leave. 3 visits on 3 different days with 3 different servers and every single one of them had an 'oops the bill is more expensive than what you ordered'. And now I never go to that one.

View on Reddit #74614381

xxwwkk@reddit

Because they were a bankrupt company, which means they are still losing money just operating. Closing locations - especially locations far from other M Crowd properties is a way to stop the bleeding.
View on Reddit #74633742

SirWillingham@reddit

Almost $1.6 million per location. Assuming the debt numbers are correct. I wonder what the value of the restaurants actually are? Is this an expansion play for Mi Cocina or brand expansion for M crowd?

Brand expansion play. No one would buy those leases just to flip the restaurants. That would be nutty.

I miss Taco Diner.. las colinas location.  Prices were so reasonable, it looked upscale inside and the staff was warm and eager to serve you. Mi cocina is similar but not with the prices. Hudson house took over and I've only been there twice since it opened. Meanwhile, I still have pictures of epic parties at Taco Diner.  Lol just came here to rant. That being said, I think Razoos will be in better hands. I went with my family about a month ago and it had no soul. Food was ok but everything was scaled back in terms of condiments.
