Or kinda famous? Or just locally, like a local band? Or not at all famous? Did you grow up with anyone?

When I was a kid I lived on a remote Scottish island and my dad was a youth worker. During the summer months he used to run summer schools for the local children and one of the ways he did this was getting drama students from the mainland to run them. In those days you used to have to do a certain amount of unpaid or non-union acting work to get your Equity card so the students used to be very happy to be able to do enough work in a summer to be able to work as actors when they finished. The drama students stayed with us a lot of the time and did the odd bit of babysitting. One of them was Alan Cumming.

Is her accent authentic? Or has she changed it to sound more posh? I've always wondered if it's actually the same as Charlie's and she's faking. (I'm Canadian, so I'm not an expert at accents!)
View on Reddit #78577485

Strange_Cranberry_47@reddit

I think she’s changed it to sound more posh. I only went to school with her for two years, from 8 to 11, and I didn’t know her very well, but she was always very friendly and I really liked her. She was quite goofy and funny, which you see a hint of in her videos, but I think she tries to hide it. That is a shame, but I can understand that she’d want to hide it if she wants to attract viewers who want a posh, wealthy influencer.
View on Reddit #78579429

9ScoreAnd10Panties@reddit

You can see a bit more of Josie's personality in Freddy's vlogs. The Charleston one in particular. I daresay Freddy might have gone out of her way to cast Josie in a mildly crude and slightly distasteful light in that one.  But Josie's life as she depicts it seems like an endless commercial, it must be tedious having to generate that much content and keep up with the trends. Long form, in full makeup no less.

Nope you'd be surprised, they were nice to pretty much everyone. We were all much younger back then to so whilst most of the kids at school had a feint idea that they were famous, no one was of the age to care about fame and no one had engaged in reality TV involving Katie price nor had they listened to Peter Andre's music besides mysterious girl popping up on the radio here and there.

My Dad used to sell to George Micheal. I remember George coming over to the house to collect when I was like 8-10. (late 90s) It was right after the time George got caught in the bathroom when it started happening. He used the same legal team as my dad was using for somthing and they met in the office and struck up an unlikely friendship. George used to call my house phone and it was just considered normal. I did not even realise he was famous. he was always a super polite and nice guy. when he used to come over he always got my dad to take him to the cafe so George could have a peek at the local builders. one time he came over and he was with someone else incredibly famous who I won't name. a female singer. let's just say that. I remember him just sitting in my living room chilling. calling the house phone "Hi is David there? It's George". and going to the cafe with him a few times. My dad thought the whole thing was hilarious. one time I remember him coming over to Collect for the brit awards. I'm not sure what year possibly 99. George was a super nice and talented guy. R.I.P

View on Reddit #74374475

Effective-Celery-475@reddit

Single-minded? How so?
View on Reddit #74386245

Conscious-Resist-662@reddit

Probally focused. He knew he was gonna be an actor and that's all he worked on. You always hear the cliche go collage do something to fall back on so you can work. That's how I read it anyway
View on Reddit #74402738

Effective-Celery-475@reddit

Yeah, there are multiple ways that single-minded shows up. For some people it's moving to a totally new city, away from friends and family. For some people it's saying "no" to anything that does not serve their work. For some it's taking a low paid jobs, even though they could take a better paid one, because the low paid one is more flexible. So many different ways.
View on Reddit #74414708

Conscious-Resist-662@reddit

This is also very true and also all part of the same thing I understand why you asked more now tbf, like what did he do to make him personally that way. Silly but true example, Dave Bautista who played Drax and tbf that give him so many opportunities I saw some interviews where he went single minded in how he wanted to act and do many different things if possible, now he had the money you could say and a name and it's true but he worked classes, tutors, went for roles that you wouldn't expect him too. I thought although some was cut he was great in Blade runner. You make a good point and would be interesting too know what was his journey that way, I knew a poet who moved too be closer to a good scene for example your right is different ways however I was answering very literally I realize to what you really was asking.

"Single-minded" is pretty self explanatory.

A girl I was at school with is a minor, and quite early, parenting influencer - not hugely well known, but she's a sharp business woman, and she made enough at one point that her husband was able to give up his job.  She drove me up the fucking wall at school, and her online personality is all the worst bits of her ramped up to 11. However, whenever I see someone bitching about her online, I feel really cross, like I'm allowed to hate her, because I know her - you have never had to put up with her, and therefore don't get that privilege.
View on Reddit #74371341

I understand what you mean about “I’m allowed to hate her because I know her” but for me the effect is a little reversed. I knew a guy who became an eSports commentator, quite a famous one, goes by the name Thorin, and he gets in a lot of trouble for saying offensive shit. Whenever I see people defend him or say he’s misunderstood I get angry because he really is an awful person. I feel like people dont give him enough criticism, like I know him so I know how much people should hate him.

If you imagine a really snarky, offensive, misogynistic, right-wing troll. But when they stop typing at the keyboard they are exactly the same in real life. Dude simply had no way to filter his output, and would regularly get in trouble in school for just spewing out hate at anyone nearby. Teachers do not like catching strays while some mouthy kid is talking shit in the playground! I see from his Twitter and YouTube output that he’s not changed at all. It’s not an act. At least it’s not an act he has any power to switch off, or moderate in any way. Dude would get into trouble and just try to laugh it off like anything he said was a joke. Except there was no “real” him - just the troll persona.

Also the same class as Mike Rosenberg from Passenger who did that very popular one hit wonder song Let her go.  Also went to the same school as Jessica Haynes from Spaced and Sean Walsh who I think is a comedian.

Bumped into him years ago when I was in Vange visiting friends, glad hes doing alright. I kinda knew Professor Green growing up because of rollerblading. My parents were musicians and his family were also involved in local music, I remember his mum being very kind and unassuming. Regularly played against his Sunday league team which he funds which is all his mates. Also a friend of a friend is Dave Gilbert, the snooker player. Once asked for tips when out on a night out, said something along the lines of pot the balls...

The original line up of the Sugababes went to my secondary school (Kingsbury High), and were a year older than me. At the time I joined the school, they had most likely signed for their first album. Passed Mutya as I was going into the same sweet shop she was coming out of. Happened so quickly, we didn’t say anything, just a brief glance and that was it. She was tiny! A few years later around 2002 or 2003, I won a CD:UK competition. A big box of goodies arrived at the house, and the biggest prize was for me and a +1 to attend an AOL Live Sessions with the Sugababes. At that point, Heidi had joined and Siobhan had left. I had brought my yearbook along, as other prize winners could get to meet and free them. As soon as Keisha saw my yearbook cover, she asked if I went to Kingsbury High. I said yes, and in surprise, she said “Shut up!” 😆😆 She grabbed Mutya, and we all started talking about the school, teachers and headmasters. They are lovely. They signed my yearbook. My friend and I were promised a copy of the group photo taken but we never got it.

There was a girl in the year above me from Primary through secondary school. Quiet, kept to her small group of close friends. Quite tall, ginger hair, very pretty. Her name? Karen Gillan. Other honorable/dishonerable mentions. My cousin was in a few episodes of Poldark, his character was supposed to be a major villain, but had his part cut down to a few scenes. They gave his death scene to another character as a twist, so now he is in the awkward situation where his character has just disappeared because he is supposed to be dead, but isn't. That and a few music videos and independent films. I went to scouts with a murderer. Someone I used to hang out with married a "wrong un" and has been featured on a documentary about her husband faking his death to escape his crimes.

Who when we hit around 17/18 she started being hit up by footballers and rappers. She is beautiful to her credit. But it’s so weird as she is now married to a famous YouTube done a U turn on the rappers. I remember lil yachty posting a pic of her when she was 16 and had to delete it when he found out her age🤣 I remember snorting lines of coke with her discussing all the famous guys that keep hitting her up. And now haven’t seen her since a small gathering when I was 18 but yeah she’s not got a podcast and is famous to a lot of young people in the UK. It’s so weird seeing her and her bfs content pop up on shorts or reels. It’s like I remember what she was like. I also knew this other lad who used to buy fireplaces from me and my pal when I was 21 who has become famous on TikTok. My mum used to date a guy who was Bill Nighy's best friend at the time and all 3 at least lived under one roof when they were students I believe. My family found this out on the drive back from watching Love Actually when it was at the cinema as she randomly blurted out he was exactly the tosspot he was in the film as they didn't get along. She knew Julie Walters and Mathew Kelly in her students years too, I assume my mum had some connection with the Liverpool Everyman theater as she was heavily into English and drama later teaching it but not being an actor herself, she studies English and philosophy I believe but taught Shakespeare and had a keen interest in theater which was probably influenced by this connection. Every so often I find out my mum has met/ knew a certain person but she doesn't go on about it.

Crossed paths with him many years later when he was famous in Hollyoaks and still a genuinely nice bloke, made plenty of time to chat.

I went to primary school in a tiny County Durham village with Kenwyn House, the guitarist in Reef before his family moved to the West Country. His dad was a Methodist minister and Ken was one of the funniest kids I’d ever met. Also went to secondary school with the drummer in the official U2 tribute act, Doppelgängers. They were hand picked to appear as “doppelgängers” of the band for the Even Better Than The Real Thing video. Phil looked exactly like Larry Mullen Jr, more so than any of the other three. We’re friends on facebook but I don’t use it anymore so I’ve no idea what he’s doing now. He got to hang out with the band quite a lot including nights out in Dublin and said that Bono definitely has a God complex but he gets away with it because he’s utterly charming with it. I also went to school with a kid who was famous locally for writing his name with a handful of his own shit on the village chemist shop window and stabbed his mother in the head with a fork. So, you know, swings and roundabouts.

I attended a moderately prestigious and academically demanding private school. Several of my former classmates are now famous in one way or another. A few went into politics. At least one is in the House of Lords. Another is a fairly successful musician.

2 I can say- I went to primary school with page 3 type model Anna Tavener, her Dad was deputy head of school. I'd doubt she's doing that anymore as She's in her mid 40s. I went Secondry School with James Wong, who's been on Counrtyfile and had a 2 season 'Grow your own Drugs' show on BBC2 a while back. He's got a few books out also. I can honestly say, he's a great chap and deserves all the success he's acchived. I haven't seen him or had any contact for 30+ years, but he was always a great guy in school and I'm really happy he's done well.

No-one from our school ever went on to do anything. At least no one who was there when I was. The best footballer never made it in the Middlesbrough youth team. The best actor went to London and disappeared. Smartest girl in school killed herself at 13. Kinda depressing really. Two kids went on to do sports commentary. One for Boro radio and one goes by the name Thorin and does eSports.

No, I was raised by feral cats 😂 Yeah, knew one of the lads from 5 Seconds of Summer, also grew up in the orbit of Sophie Turner (but never met her besides passing her at the railway station). Quite a few musicians of local prominence. I was a drama kid so that was my orbit. There are others too who went to the likes of Oxbridge and Harvard and MIT who have done well in business and academics.

Went to school with Harry Clayton-Wright, he and I were in the drama club together at school and acted opposite one another in a performance of *The Crucible* in 2005 or so. He played one of the Salem religious leaders and improvised a hellfire sermon to open the performance; I played Giles Corey. He's a year or two older than me so we weren't in classes together, but knew one another to talk to. He was well loved by everyone there, and we all knew he'd make a career in the performing arts. I also went to school with two of the four members of the London band Panic Atom. One was in the year above me, we've been good friends for coming on twenty-five years; the other was a year or two below me.
