On the internet, there are many people with various different opinions that they voice. These opinions can be mutually exclusive. Person A says 2D women are better than 3D women. Person B says 3d women are better than 2D women. The goomba fallacy is when you mistake these two opposite opinions as hypocritical or contradictory because they're assumed to belong to the same person/group. Example - "Redditors are so fucking stupid because they say 2D women are better than 3D women but then they also say 3D women are better than 2D women". In actuality, there are people on reddit who agree with Person A and there are those who agree with Person B. It's not a contradiction. Both of these people exist on the same platform. So the user above you is saying that they people who read and watch hardcore stuff and the people complaining about power imbalances are from two separate groups rather than the same group doing both of those things.

It's mainly a problem of the personality types, with age as more of an indicator. Like I rarely use social media. I hate it. Especially FB. But even people who are 10-20 years older use it "better" than I do. Sports (was free or really cheap when i was young), under 18 raves (maybe i just aged out of seeing the ads but i swear these aren't as widespread), even just being outside in general. We would just go and knock on people's doors and chill outside and had to interact with actual people a lot. Whereas it seems a lot of the younger gen there interactions are almost entirely online. There's a space for that too cos i was also all over the internet from young but i still spen t the majority of my time outside. I kind of even realise now since i've been WFH and my boss is really lassez-faire there were some points i don't see anyone besides my girlfriend for weeks. A few years of that and my social skills aren't as good as they were when i was in the office 5 days a week. Now imagine you didn't even get the earlier socialisation and the internet is even more ubiquitous

Can confirm as a zoomer. I feel weird about the idea of dating someone one year younger than me. I think it’s because the thought of being seen as a predator even if there isn’t any real reason to be worried is far more concerning to us than to previous generations since being intimate with someone who is seen as too young has become a mortal sin (of course I don’t think this is a bad thing, fuck pedos). In previous generations it was not nearly as socially stigmatized to do that. When my parents were my age it being gay was seen as much more unacceptable. We’re also at an age range where only a relatively small age gap (i.e. 19-17) is a big difference in maturity and life experience, which can definitely increase the perceived wrongness of that relation.

One of my best friend's roommates was called a pedo& a groomer, because he was together eith a 17yo (who was about to turn 18) while he had just turned 19. Her friends convinced her it was abuse and what not, so they started writing shit like "no voice for predators" and other ""powerful"" slogans on his socials. Hes a musician and their band was just about to play some gigs at major festivals, it could have been their breakthrough. But they were pulled off all contracts because of the (ultimately baseless) accusations. It got so bad he had to get stationary care for anxiety and depression. She never saw any repercussions.

Maybe? But when I was 27, I had multiple years into a career with a house. When I’d look at college kids, I’d absolutely feel the age gap due to different life stages. At 20, they can’t even drink in the US. They weren’t thinking of how to pay mortgages or rent or how work was gonna be. They were thinking about how their class assignment was going to be graded. Is it legal? Sure. Would I find nearly anything in common with them? Maybe some things but overall I’d much rather date someone who’s in the same stage of life as me. I went back to school at 30, so i had to hang with a lot of 19-23yos.. youre underselling their maturity pretty hard. I made a lot of good smart friends with lots in common in university. I couldve definitely have dated some of the women there and felt no "glaring disparity" Also, you dont know anything about someones relationship when you only judge it for the age gap. When I was 26 I was still in med school, but I did some volunteer work where one of my covolunteers was a 20 year old girl who didn’t go to college. She was working 2 other jobs but volunteered a couple times per month. I have no problem admitting that she was more mature and at a more advanced level in life at 20 than I was at 26. The point is, people are more complex than just an age. If you’re old enough and have no mental disabilities that impair you from living on your own, you can date whoever you want.

I was dating absolutely beautiful 18 and 19 year olds when I was in my early thirties. I'm so glad I did. I had dated lots of twenty-somethings and a thirty year old before that, and as a man you put beauty way way up on a pedestal. Beauty is easy for young women but honestly, they take it for granted and don't take themselves as seriously as say, a 30 year old model who is equally beautiful. They're just girls.
