Mine too. Do they still make this stuff?

They sure do. My brother came to visit for Christmas and he brought me a big pack of these, chicken bones, the satin hard candies and clear toys from back home in New Brunswick.

Hammond’s candy in Denver will give you a tour and you can see them made. Those and the candy canes are awesome!

We toured the factory 10 years ago and now I won’t buy any other brand of candy cane!

Same here. I even bought that big bag of broken pieces to snack on at work.

I miss you Grandma Nichols! She had those in a candy dish all year. Did I eat them? Yes! Would I eat them now? Not unless they were in her ‘crystal’ candy dish in the brown and orange sitting room.

Laura Ingalls got that for Christmas- ribbon candy, in the early 1870's.

I had some at my aunts once and my cousins postulated it was more than 5 years old. Apparently that jar was a science experiment

KittiesRule1968@reddit

It wasn't edible even when freshly made.

Honestly, I miss ribbon candy. It always looked too elegant to eat.

I love ribbon candy. I watched a fascinating video once which showed how they make it. It’s a mechanical gizmo that does the pleating. The candy itself is made and stretched by hand, then they feed it into the machine.

One girl always brought ribbon candy to our elementary school holiday parties. It was always the last food on my plate, with little cheese popcorn bits and cookie crumbs attached. No thanks.

My Aunt Mary’s house, 1984. I can taste this candy. Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about this stuff!!

My great grandmother passed away in 1978 and 30 years later went through some of her things after gramps died (he kept everything, as the typical depression era child did). There were 2 candy dishes filled with candy. It all still tasted fine 3 decades later.

Excellent at slashing through gums. Nothing like the sanguine taste of blood and hard ball sugar.

My mother put out a dish of a candy mix that included these as part of our Christmas decorations. I think it was the same candy every year because it was stuck together and nobody ever ate it.
