Bosch USA Speed limit in EU derestrict - how does that work and where do they get bosch software to do this!

Seen a few of those adds in FB groups. I presume the service provider is using official bosch software, so it seems from videos shared, though, not that I have seen it to know how ui looks. It seems there must be cracked version somewhere in the wild? Does anyone have more info?
Wonder if Bosch will react in some way, as I presume they have some means of controlling software distribution for bike maintenance...

They just install US software on ur bike, its legit. I think it can only be done on smart system versions.

There was also someone promoting this on FB groups and they wanted to do it remotely installing software to computer
They did modify speed limit but also installed backdoor and poor folks lost money.

Probably a scam.
Also, remember that this is like driving without a license or without insurance. The problem is not getting caught by the police. The problem is your liability when you get caught in an accident.

That is whole another side of it. I would go through legal channels to register bike as an moped or e-moped and have bosch shop raise limit to 45 km/h, if that would be option, even would pay some reasonable sum to be able to do that.

Then it’s a class 1 moped which is quite a lot of hassle since it needs a number plate, a driver’s license and much more complete insurance coverage. The charges for that will be anything but reasonable.
There are plenty of class 2 e-bikes though, I’m honestly surprised that so few choose that option. All you need is a really cheap basic insurance (often single digit euros per month), you’re not allowed to use it without a helmet and you can’t ride it while drunk.

You can legally buy a speed pedelec in most EU countries. Of course, it requires type approval, registration and insurance.

I have never done this myself, but as I work with Bosh ebikies, I have seen bikes with that mod. Some people even offer to do it online. Thru your computer. They just change software. Price usually oscillates around 200 dollars.

Ebikes need to embrace the vesc for its ability to set speed profiles using the app, so you can powercycle the bike and have it default to regulation speeds.

Probably just set the region code to US/Canada. There is no gps on the bike itself, so that might be possible now. (It used to not be possible to change region)
