Identify this firearm?

I'm not familiar with firearms so I'm not sure what questions to ask, or why it would be stored this way. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, and thank you for any replies.

I don't have much more context, other than this was unexpected and seems like an unsafe way to store a gun. Consensus from other replies seems to be that it's none of my business what my husband does, so I'm deleting this post.

Well, I certainly hope whatever conversation ensues between you two is peaceful and productive. Obviously I don't know either of you from Adam, but I would hope you don't jump to conclusions about your husband without rationally talking about it. The fact that he owns a scary looking gun may just mean that he wants to have a way to protect you and wasn't sure how you'd respond. You might want to ask him to take you to the range and show you how to use it. It may just wind up being a WHOOOOLE lot more fun than you ever imagined. There is zero sarcasm in this comment btw. I'm being completely serious.

You took a picture of your husband's gun and came to reddit to ask about it, instead of just asking your husband? Wtf? To answer your question...it's clearly his easily accessible desk gun for if shit hits the fan or someone breaks in. Same applies to his shower gun, toilet gun, refrigerator gun, garage gun, attic gun, etc.

As a “desk gun” it would make more sense if it was mounted under the desk, hey that gives me an idea: some quick release slot/holders so the gun slots-in underneath the desk, laying flat. normally out of sight unless someone crawls underneath. But can reach underneath and push or pull the gun out of the holders , and you have a gun pulled from underneath your desk !

The plastic "brace" at the back of the gun has a hinge and will fold to the side of the gun, reducing storage size. Heres a little lore, this gun is a turkish clone of the world famous Mp5(Sp5 for civilian use), a German gun famously used in the hit Christmas movie "Die Hard".

Yeah but you obviously know who owns it if it's not owned by you right? So maybe provide some more details about why you're concerned. It's not just being randomly put there someone owns it and has purposely put it there for storage

I have one similar to this! it’s a “Century Arms AP5”it’s a clone of the “MP5” but made for civilians to buy in the US. It has the folding brace on the back, not a “stock” , so it’s technically a “pistol” not a “rifle” (they sold them in a kit like this). This looks to be a 9mm version, and it might be stored in a loaded state (ready to fire), so do not touch it.

Who else lives in the house? And why not ask them? While you're at it, it might not be a bad idea to also ask for their reasoning behind this rather unorthodox method "storage." I can almost conceive of somebody stowing a gun like this. What I'm having a tough time with is why, upon finding it, somebody would come to a reddit group to ask complete strangers what kind it is. How do you find something like this randomly under a towel? Like what are you trying to really get at here? Do you know who owns this gun etc? And are just curious as to what kind it is? Or are you concerned because it showed up randomly somehow and you're not sure how type of situation? This seems kind of shady and a weird way. It seems like you might be kind of snooping on a roommate or somebody
