Buy a nvidia rtx 5080 or wait for the 5080 TI?

I want to buy an pc in march, but i don’t know where to start with my gpu. Should i buy the rtx 5080 or wait for the 5080 ti release? Also, does somebody knows when the 5080 ti will release?

Really dont think there's a point in getting 5080 over 5070ti. The vram which is the most needed is the same, and 5070 ti runs just as good as 5080.
Anything u cant run on a 5070ti you wouldnt be able to run on a 5080, which is where you need the self melting 5090

Self melting 5090? I'm out of the loop, are 5090s melting now? 😳
JKaiya1@reddit
The power cable connector melts overtime. Sometimes catches on fire. The 5080+ does it with higher ones being more likely as you need to draw more power. 4090s did this too but ot was rare but 50 series is pretty common

Decide for yourself the waiting you're talking about will just be yet another unobtainable item...
I been waiting for the aurorus water block one as if I can save myself disassembling the card I will as also waterblocks for 5080 even are hard to get..
I glad my 3080 ti is still plugging away though I obviously have to drop settings for 4k but it was a 1440p card so no surprise 4k is a challenge

Wait for 8080super
ohmeowhowwillitend@reddit
nah you better get the 9090 super ti
No-Occasion-6756@reddit
Nope, definitely wait for the 101010 super ti ultra

in binary by this point

I think Nvidia is gonna announce their plans for 26 on 5-6. january, including 5080 super or what it will be called, or come at all
Anyhow for gaming i think 5080 will cover most excellently
If you mess with AI it may have too little V-ram

im from the future, damn they all about AI

I’m from an even more future future, buy the 5080, buy all the 5080s, they worth more than gold here

Waiting for the 5070ti super

I don't think it is worth waiting for the 5080 super. They're likely not even releasing next year due to the RAM shortage, so you would be waiting a while for that. The 5080 is a fantastic card and absolutely worth getting. If you're more budget conscious, the 5070ti is great as well.

Absolute hilarious, 5080 is the Shittiest 80 card EVER, even worst than 2080, every new genaration 80 card are faster than last gen fastest card, except 5080 and 2080. I mean 2080 already has a ton of negative review, is the second shittiest 80 card, but at least it could provide same perfromance as 1080ti, and sold as 80 card price. How about 5080? Slower than 4090, way less vram, with a 80ti price, and you call a "fantastic card", Absolute hilarious.

What is your problem bro? Some people have the money to pay for better performance. I never said the 5080 was a fantastic deal - I said it was a fantastic card. I bought to suit my needs. I game in 4k, so I wanted more performance than the 5070ti offered and didn't feel like buying a 5090. I also bought for $970 when it was on sale, so it really wasn't that bad of a deal.

Get a rx9070xt and wait for next gen....

This is the way 👍

Have you not been following the news? I would say it is less and less likely there will be any 50 series refresh of super or ti variants in 2026 or beyond. If you need a gpu now, now is the time to buy what is out there.

I just went through this decision and getting the 5080 now felt like the better choice.
In a normal climate I'd have happily waited 6 months for either the ti release or the 6000 series announcement to knock some $ off the base 5080 MSRP.
But the marketplace is madness at the minute and literally every new piece of information indicates next year is going to be a lot wose. I can't see any new GPU released with 20+ GB memory not being priced through the ceiling. If its announced at all.
I decided that prioritising getting the best machine in my home now was the better decision. Worst case I feel a bit stupid in 6 months time its all sunshine and rainbows. Best case I've got a great sytem to ride out the next few years.

Weird question considering the goal is more than two months away. Follow the news see if something gets announced by then. But aim for 5080 probably.
Nobody knows what will happen to consumer market after all, but nothing good I suppose. The rich are too busy trying to scam us once again and burst another bubble.
Terrible-Fox-6177@reddit
I feel like the super series is getting skipped on this gen.
Existing-Network-267@reddit
I don't think there is space for a 5080 ti
5090 is only 5% better .
Darante2025@reddit
At this point it is not certain at all that a 5080ti/super would even be released. Even if it does, I don't think the price would be very undesirable.
Kenma@reddit
I’d say get a 5080 now for $1k, the 5080 super will be very hard to get for msrp and I’d imagine msrp will be 1250-1500
xxxshabxxx@reddit
Or not released due to ram shortages.
