Same! My friends and I got the wooden shields and swords from Ren Faire and used to beat the shit out of each other. Especially on Hobbit Day. We were 13-year-old girls and this was how we spent our time (when we weren’t drinking jolt cola or debating the hotness of Val Kilmer in “Willow” vs Val Kilmer in “The Doors”).

When I was 15 in 1999, somehow my friends and I acquired a keg, skipped school for half a week, fished and ate fish, and slept in a 10-man tent in the woods off our housing addition. We even used a weed eater at the campsite. (actually, I lost my V card there too, but diff story). And we were so close to home that anytime we "needed" anything, it was a short distance away. About 5-15 students, all skipping school for those few days that fall. Right next to a pond, also, so we fished a lot, we stole a paddleboat, put the keg on the back of it, and smoked weed all day, every day. But one day, we found the best sword-like sticks we could find. and spent an hour of 5 on 5 beating the fuck out of each other... At 41, this is one of my favorite childhood memories. Nostalgia!

I remember I lived in Arizona at the time and we had a lot of retirees at the time. During the summer me and a friend had a fake plastic butchers knife and a chefs knife (left over from Halloween costumes 8 months before) and we playing yelling/ chasing our other friend through the desert behind some old guys house and he came out screaming at us . 🤣 I think he thought he was witnessing some children of the corn or lord of the flies type shit. We explained they were plastic he didn’t care, scolded us and told us to get home and not run behind his house anymore. 😂

Yes! When I was ~5y.o. my friend & I had them. A neighbor lady at a playground took them away because she thought we’d hit her toddler with them. We hadn’t - kid fell off the slide & started crying. We stood there looking around for someone because her mom wasn’t nearby & wasn’t paying attention. Eventually her mom ran over and of course it was our fault & not her shit parenting. Got em back later and learned the lesson that adults don’t believe kids anyway even if you’re telling the truth. Bought more in 5th grade to use for a Shakespeare play. We reinforced them with dowel rods and choreographed some sweet fight scenes to make up for the fact that 5th graders trying to perform Shakespeare are awful at it.
