Canada is actually super easy, we just blame it on a low loonie and then when it goes back up the price never changes.
We fall for it every single time.
Still cheaper than other countries, we Americans are lucky. In Malaysia, my car models starting price is 530 $97,000 USD … with inflation that’s almost $130,000.
Americans are spoiled, even a couple thousand dollars and folks are crying like a baby. I don’t agree with this whole, economic viewpoint especially with it being coupled with t@x cuts - but **everyone** needs to start paying more t@xes if we want things.
You can also see it in local situations, I live Houston - a city with big urban sprawl. People want to live in sprawl (“I NEED a my 2500 sq. ft. house with a large yard and backyard, anything less and we are literally living like a 3rd world person”) , pay less taxes BUT want top class service without paying. Yea okay …

Many’s folks don’t drive scooters out of choice, trust if they can drive they will. Even basic cars there are expensive compared to income. Also car dependent urban design there is an issue as wheel.
They’ll still sell them all so this really won’t be an issue.
Although it’s a little embarrassing all the cost cutting they’ve done and they’re still raising prices by a minuscule $400
Do we really know this? It's a convenient excuse but prices for cars have been rising worldwide.
It's the increasing cost of compliance as well as inflation. Plus tariffs, too.
BMW sales are on a tear. They're doing amazing, why wouldn't they raise prices?
If you have high demand at your current supply, you must raise prices to reduce that demand. It's pretty simple pricing.
But you will get /r/cars getting their panties in a bunch because they can't afford it. Which is exactly the point of this.
Article is a rumour, we don’t know for sure yet.
BMWs could be getting more expensive in USA, around 1% higher prices apparently. Article does not indicate a specific reason for the possible price increase.
On top of a 1.9% increase in July, BMWs are getting more expensive pretty quickly.
BMW dealers are supposed to honour the existing price if the car is ordered before Jan 1.
I think that about covers everything?

The articles won’t directly say it’s because of tariffs bc that will hurt someone’s feelings. It’s crazy the price increases Americans are having. I bought my car for pretty much the same price but in CAD vs USD. Porsche is also increasing prices. Because of tariffs.
When the US went was going through their price increases I asked my sales rep about my build/allocation. He said as far as he knew they weren’t increasing price.
