Definitely turn of the millennium commodity/house techno. I remember people playing "Pussy" or whatever the song title was, over and over. Personally, I preferred Brooklyn Bounce for my house-style techno. When I was a club kid, I listened to techno quite a bit, on purpose even. I still have tracks that I like, but I'm nowhere near playing hour long Oakenfold tracks anymore and cringe at the thought of trance. Ugh....so bad.

It's a bit much to imply that *all* trance is bad, but I get what you're saying. I always thought Oakenfold sucked. Mainly I look for lots of variations and changeups in song sections, across all genres. I still enjoy many types of electronica. Music that drones on and on in the same exact pattern is almost always going to feel boring and pointless to me no matter what kind it is... it's unfortunate that it was way easier to do this with digital music, resulting in an avalanche of it.

I didn't mean to categorically call trance bad. There are likely a few tracks that I'd still enjoy but I don't think I'll ever not cringe at the thought. It's not even so much about the music, but what my young self was doing while listening to the music. I now associate trance with late 90s, early 00s clubbing/parties while on a specific substance. For better or worse, my mind has made that association effectively permanent.

I love seeing my old house and industrial bands in movies. Some are pervasive to set the tone for the whole movie, like the Cool World soundtrack, but sometimes it's just the right music for a scene like Skinny Puppy popping up in Bad Influence. Praise the Lords! Voodoo U and Our Little Secret defined the late 90s for me. Crablouse, Out Comes the Evil, Rubber Doll, and of course Pussy. Farstucker had some good tracks, like Scrood Bi U and Lucy's Fucking Sky, but was overall a weaker album without Jade 4 U.

I've never stopped jamming Lords. I have stopped going to see their live shows. I went to see them some years back now. My friend was running their sound that night. So I was extremely excited to see the band and meet Praga again. During the sound check Praga was shit hammered. The tour manager was in the sound booth with us. Shaking his head in disappointment he says "Yep, Praga is drunk, play the track" and walks away. So everyone that night got karaoke Lords of Acid. Definitely not the way I want to see my bands.

Voodoo YOU!!! I disagree with you. I love that shit techno. And anyone else that loves Lords Of Acid, check out Electric Callboy. Less sex and drugs but still plenty of sex and drugs and rock'n roll. To me they sound like a mix of 80s metal (party / fun), 90's Techno (Energy and synths) and 2010s Metal.
