Celebrities or famous people who turned on your hometown Christmas lights, and what did you remember from it?

I grew up in Spalding that didn't really try...we got the guy from the Punchbowl who released a Xmas charity song that didn't chart, a lad who was on C4's the islands, the keyboardist from CBBC show North and South. One year, we had no one as there was a lad in my year who was Jay Cartwright before Inbetweeners was a thing. He would just lie and lie and lie - but for some reason it would be mostly believed as he was good at faking a story. He claimed the actress Claire Goose was his cousin and used to babysit him. Weirdly, she then started to get more famous via the lad mags and did an interview where she said she was looking to spend time with her family and her little cousins at Xmas. This somehow endorsed his story to the point he announced she was going to turn on the lights...including the story being picked up by the local press and local news! Gets to the day and he's still standing there with the headmaster and some councillor waiting for her to turn up, including faking calls to ask where she is etc. Eventually I think the councillor had to turn on the lights to boos by a large crowd and he got suspended for last two days of term...where he claimed he got to be in the Casualty special they were filming for Easter - his part later being cut due to complaints by the other actors.
