January weather, how cold does it get?

I’m planning on going to London mid January. Is the weather terrible during that time? How cold is it good? Lots of snow? I’m used to cold temperatures in the northeast in US. Is it similarly cold? Can I go for a jog? Thank you for alleviating my anxiety in advance!

It could be +15 degrees, it could be -10. It could snow, it could be sunny, it could rain like a monsoon, it could be bone dry, it could be foggy, it could be clear, you may need a huge jacket, you may be okay with a thin jumper. During your trip you will likely experience all of the above.

I'm from London, live in New Jersey. Weather in London is generally milder than NJ. Probably wetter, but almost zero chance of snow. Certainly can jog, but will need warm clothes as in the US.

I grew up in NJ and am now living in Peterborough (not London, but not far from it), and I am so sorry for you. I can't even imagine what made you leave the UK for NJ. Unless you are in southern NJ, which I can sort of understand. ;)

There is even less in the southern parts of the UK. And living in NJ and having lived in Surrey, I feel I can judge.... So info is from personal experience.

Much much much much milder than the NE of the USA and likely NO snow at all. London is warmer than surrounding countryside anyway. There's proper snow in London maybe for a week every 10 yrs.

Not much much but a bit more mild, both summers and winters are a bit more mild than Boston
