I could only find 2 x single stick RAM, no kits available...

https://i.imgur.com/9txMgm5.jpeg So they are 2 serial numbers apart xxxxEF and xxxxF1 so hopefully it will go well because my paid order for kit was cancelled as out of stock... Will be waiting up to 2 weeks for importer to try and distribute it as that is deadline for me to be able to return these single ones if I manage to get proper kit However, I already did this once couple years ago and they were not just couple serial numbers apart but each bought more than 5 years apart and I had no problems but it was DDR4 Then I am also wondering: how come 4x8 is okay when mixing two kits that have to work together at same channels, but 2x16 is not recommended when mixing two singles that work in separate channels...

I am too and that's why I can't comprehend the thought of "it might fail" These things have been manufactured by precise specification with even more precice toleration for all relevant measures So if one stick passes the tests good enough to be sold on the market then it is inside those valid ranges of values and everything should be just fine But you know how masses can pass you anxiety toughts with hive mind...

Then I wonder: there are 4 RAM slots but no 4 stick kits available - so what's the point of having 4 if you have to pair 2 kits of 2 in order to fill

I'm currently running 48gb DDR4, two 8gb sticks and two 16gb sticks. Same brand and model, but obviously different capacity DIMMS and bought like 6 months apart. It runs flawlessly, but I know I was lucky, I was prepared to ditch the 16gb kit and sell it.

I was thinking of lowering down to 2x8 since those can still be found here, or even going 4x8 but I don't like either of those options... Even though 2x8 is probably enough for my needs but I'm building for long term

It's not okay, it's the same. Mixing memory will always result in a lower chance of stability/compatibility. If you buy 2 sticks of the exact same RAM, then you should be just fine. The only difference is the factory didn't test the 2 sticks to confirm they work together, but one can assume it should. The only difference is your chances it doesn't work as expected are slightly higher, so if you can buy a kit then buy a kit since that offers you the best odds.

I don't have high hopes of new series of kits being imported and even if they do new price will be even higher than current So I will wait 2 weeks and see what they say, I might get kit I already paid for by the old price, but anyway I still have to get cpu so I have no rush of trying to test asap

It will ***probably*** work just fine. 4x on DDR4 is not the same as 4x on DDR5.

The most likely outcome is that those two will work perfectly fine together. It just means they haven't been tested together. To be clear, mixing kits or modules of any type isn't recommended.
