What’s all this Tunis Cake business about?

I’m old - born in 1973 - and I like to think I have a fairly good memory of all the retro snacks and sweets and products of the time - I’ll happily bang on about Spangles and Texan Bars, Argos Catalogues of Dreams and Angel Delight with the best of them. Yet I am completely lost as to why this thing called “Tunis Cake” has suddenly become a festive retro meme product this year. I have absolutely zero recollection of ever seeing it before anywhere: Is it just me? Have I dropped into some sort of festive cake Mandela effect?
