Trustworthy AC Companies - HELP!!
Posted by gatorintexas@reddit | plano | View on Reddit | 50 comments
So I had a great AC company that I used for several years. He sold out, and now the company is not reliable or trustworthy. I will not say the name but it rhymes with Hagar. Anyway, I just looked at Reliant AC and the reviews are horrible! I have also been told to stay away from A#1. Help! We need service, not a replacement. Thanks in advance, fellow Redditors.

Dragon Heat and Air.
IcyAssistance3364@reddit
Nope. Can’t recommend Dragon Air if you want an honest furnace repair, not replacement.
ppx11@reddit
Seconded. Just had them out to quick fix my AC after it stopped working and they were great.
Samm's also seems to be a popular top recommendation.
No_Lingonberry_1165@reddit
yes!!! love these guys
Traktorvasia@reddit
Airmatics LLC did a great job in my house, with a fair price and a professional approach. They fixed my AC in a flash
JayPisal@reddit
Paschal Air, Plumbing & Electric really came through for me. My AC went out in June during a heatwave, and I was sweating it out at home. I called them, and they were at my house fast and had it fixed the same day. They were friendly, upfront about the price, and didn’t try to sell me anything extra. Definitely the best experience I have had with an AC company around here

Aanyone's looking for a trustworthy AC repair company around here: We’re ClassicABC and our focus is fixing what’s broken—not just selling you a new system. Most calls are for repair, and that’s where our techs really shine: on time, honest, and trained to solve the problem, not to push upgrades.
We’re family-owned, live locally, and care about keeping things cool for neighbors. If you just want service (not a replacement), that’s what we’re here for! Thanks for considering us—happy to answer questions!

Highly recommend Total Air and Heat company out of Plano - www.totalair.com we have had them service our systems for almost 2 decades and replace them once. They are a local, family run, small business so wont gouge you or treat you like the private equity owned companies will, which most HVAC companies are owned by private equity now

We been using Wolfe Air & Heat for about 20 years snd would not trust anyone else. Lindell lives in Plano and does great, prompt work. No bull shit. Lindell Wolfe 972-423- 4852

Very happy I called Lindell, he showed up when he said, got it fixed, reasonable price.
Butterflycrownedrose@reddit
Does he have a website ?
dfaidley@reddit
I called and texted with him, idk about a website. Quick to respond
yesitsyourmom@reddit
Good to hear. I thought he retired!

I used Lindell and he was really nice but he charged a ridiculous amount for Freon. How much is the going rate per pound now?
yesitsyourmom@reddit
Did you look it up? I just googled with these results : R-22 $250 per pound, R410a-$90 per pound.
wang7770@reddit
Yes I did and his rate was way more that what was listed online and he didn’t even weigh it for me. It was a total scam.
Butterflycrownedrose@reddit
Does he have an email ?
hulking_menace@reddit
Lindell came out and fixed our AC this morning - quick, professional, and as you said "no bullshit."
Thanks for the rec - life saver in this heat!
yesitsyourmom@reddit
That’s great to hear! He really does great work and the cost has always seemed reasonable. I’m having him stop by next week to do a check up on a new unit and I’ll tell him about his Reddit referral! I’m so glad he could help you.

I understand your concerns about finding a reliable and trustworthy AC service company, especially after your previous positive experience was disrupted by a change in ownership. When looking for a new AC service provider
If you need immediate assistance, inquire about the company's availability for emergency service and response times.
Remember that finding a reliable HVAC service provider may take some time and research, but it's essential to ensure that your AC system is properly maintained or repaired. Additionally, consider getting quotes and information from multiple companies to make an informed decision that meets your needs and budget.
KatMonster@reddit
We used Nick's Air Services in January 2019 when our compressor seized, and it looks like they're still around.
Not only did they have the best price for replacing/updating our system, but the day we called, the owner himself came out to check the system because he had a suspicion of what was causing it and wanted to see if he could get it going without needing to replace a part. He couldn't (and didn't charge us for that initial visit), but it still made an impression on us.
The fact that they also laid out the various options we had instead of a flat-out "you've gotta replace the whole system" was something I appreciated. Yes, replacing the system was the best choice, but he wanted us to know the other paths we could take if we needed to hold off on replacing it due to cost. I always appreciate professionals who give me options and recommendations.

https://www.ryan-hvac.com/ Brandon is the owner, and lives one street over from us in East Plano. He and his crew are awesome

I second Ryan Air!

Bright Star HVAC Victor is the owner, 972-464-9145
He has been helping us since 2018 and we’ve replaced the inside and the outside parts. We regularly have him check ours in the spring.

Berkey’s is my go to!
imperialtofu@reddit
365 A/C http://365heating-air.com didn’t charge me for service call, responded and came over within an hour and $75/lb freon….which was cheaper than other person I used. Also has no problem showing me everything he’s doing and the unfortunate leak I have…but does not push sales of unit and provides you with several options
Johnblondin@reddit
Cotes. I really think they are.

I had a great experience with Reliant Air Conditioning. I did exactly what they say, call 2-3 other companies first then them. They were significantly cheaper, more transparent and communicated efficiently.
thisquietreverie@reddit
Reliant seemed to do me right too. They were transparent about my air handler closet limiting the size of the tonnage we could do so I was well aware that I am slightly undersized. This was maybe 5 years ago so I don't know about their install practices now.
They came out and replaced my TXV under warranty, no complaints, years later. It took a few trips out to adjust things but it's reasonably dialed in now. My only actual complaint that I can think of is that they should have upsold me on a complete duct replacement as my ducts are decades out of date and my plenum is leaky.
Yeah, I'm complaining that I should have been upsold. Waiting on Air Mechanix to do the job, currently.

I have been using Texas AirZone for about 15 years. Super service, always above board.

We replaced both our units last September with Total Air and everything went fine and haven't had any issues. Luckily the layout of our attic allowed them to be able to do both units in the same day.
greenflash1775@reddit
Total Air is at my house right now. They’re the best.

Another upvote for Total Air

Second this.

Joplin Air. We switched from A#1 to Joplin 2 years ago. Best decision we made
AnxietyDepressedFun@reddit
They won't be the cheapest but I absolutely love Baker Brothers for both plumbing & HVAC. Not only are they always there when they say they will be, they always have like one or two alternatives if the repair is too expensive. They've come out as an emergency next day 8am service & there was no extra charge even though we called them at like 11pm the night before.
Even their dispatch is next level, always making sure they have the details shared with the people doing the repairs & maintaining contact for anything scheduling. They'll send you an email or text when the tech is on their way with GPS so you can see exactly when they'll arrive. They have photos & descriptions for every tech so you know who is going to be showing up at your door.
When something broke on our water heater the tech told us what it was & asked if we wanted to go get the part from Home Depot because it would be way cheaper but we were literally going out of town that evening & didn't have time, so he did the fix & then gave us info on what part it was in case we needed to ever buy it again.
I cannot say enough good things about them.
Saamari@reddit
agree baker brothers are the best in the area i’ve worked with. Milestone isn’t bad either
TheDrewManGroup@reddit
Second for Baker Brothers. They redid my sewer main and have come out same day for Plumbing and HVAC repair.
Everyone has been very informative and customer service oriented.

Dragon Air Services. you’re welcome!
FerrisBuellerOnNA@reddit
Samms used to be super awesome. It was the same guys out twice a year for several years in a row for maintenance, which was nice because they really knew my system. I think they've grown in the last five years and I didn't really feel like I was getting the same support, but in the past they have caught that something was under warranty when they could've just charged me for a new system and they replaced my heating unit years ago and then redid my ducts, no issues.

My friend works at a place. Let me know and I'll pm you his info.

Get a hold of Butch at Thermal Choice Air, (972) 989-2494. I’ve used them for years and never felt like I was getting taken for a ride.
1millerce1@reddit
Yeah, I'd never trust just anyone near my HVAC equipment. Far too many things they can do to subtlety sabotage you into having to replace. I can't tell you how many tried when we had a ton over to give estimates to replace ahead of schedule. The most common things they did was to let freon out and to change logic board settings.
If I were in something of your situation, I'd work off the list the manufacturer provides and try to remove perverse incentives to replace (like service warranties or contracts).
jilver@reddit
Ive been on a service contract with Airmax out of celina for 3-4 years. Theyre fine. You dont have to go with their reccomendations for extra work. To me they are literally just that beyond servicing your heating and air 2x a year
