Well then I hereby declare A Nightmare Before Christmas a Christmas movie since only the opening deals with Halloween while the rest of the movie has Jack trying to figure out what Santa's holiday is all about. Everybody wants it to be a Halloween movie when it clearly isn't.

My parents took my best friend, his older and me to watch this for my birthday right after it was released in June 1992. The Penguin was genuinely nightmare fuel. Michelle Pfeiffer also made me very curious about women in leather.

It's the reason why the Schumacher ones went complete 180 in tone. Kids were crying leaving the theater. My previous experience with Batman was Super Friends and Batman 66 so I though this one was super cool

I stayed with my grandparents that summer. "Cop Killer" by Ice T and Body Count came out that summer. They were on the WB music label, so my grandparents wanted to boycott all things WB. We (me, my cousin and my younger brother, 13, 12, and 11 year old boys) whined and pleaded for a long time til they gave in and took us to the theater to watch this movie. My grandparents refused to actually watch it though. They watched a different movie while we watched it.

My favorite thing about 90s Batman is no matter how much you hated the previous films someone was dragging you to the sequel to have a bad time all over again. Sadly this is why I did initially give the Nolan films a chance.
