What’s been the biggest example you have seen of “someone letting themselves go”?

In 2018 a friend’s fiancé admitted he’d been cheating with multiple girls and he had got one girl pregnant, she was 7months pregnant at the time and she was saying he couldn’t see the child unless he left my friend and he walked out a month before the wedding. My friend was lucky enough to cancel the wedding plans and managed get a lot of the wedding money back bar a few deposits. At first she seemed to be coping well. They hadn’t been living together. There had also been rumours about him cheating most of the relationship. About 3 months later she had totally gave up on herself, she quit the gym, changed her job to avoid seeing him, stopped getting her hair and nails done, gone from being a social queen to refusing girls nights in or out, was constantly posting pictures of takeaway food on socials like she was a food blogger. None of us had actually hung out in person with her and we were all getting concerned. 3 months later she was wanting to make Christmas night out plans, when we met up she had gone from a size 10 in June to a 16+ in December, her skin looked greasy like a spotty teenagers and she had clearly tried to highlight her own hair. She kept talking about reinventing herself. How baggy clothes are a life-force and how she had learnt to meditate and love herself. She met this man on Badoo and she was casually sleeping with him, he “randomly” turned up later in the night and it was clear he was an alcoholic and a total mess (he actually tried it on with another woman in front of us and my friend just laughed it off because they were both single and its only sex). She had several of these situationships in the next 3 years. She claimed they were empowering but it never seemed that way. She finally hit her breaking point and snapped out of the mess in 2022 and after a lot of apologies with help from us lot shes now “back to normal” and she’s lost some weight and actually happy single.
