I am so mad rn 👺

I was driving on the I-80E in Nescopeck (near exit 242), Pennsylvania, heading towards Enfield, Connecticut, to deliver a load. I specifically waited until 1:00pm EST because it had snowed overnight, so I figured the majority of snow had been cleared before I started to drive. A PennDOT snow removal vehicle was flinging snow from the I-80W across the median into the I-80E lanes. Since there was only two lanes, I couldn’t maneuver much, and the snow the machine was flinging smashed into my windshield and well, you can see the results. I got the dashcam footage and set up all necessary claims with insurance, and thankfully it happened near a safe haven, but damn, I’m PISSED.
I hope y’alls day is going better than mine at least, stay safe out there drivers.

Please remember, it's always better to pissed off then pissed on.
Charliepetpup@reddit
I would rather not be pissed on at all....
Silverburstnelson@reddit
What the fuck did this comic thread become???
tohowie@reddit
That depends on who’s doing the pissing.
GiantEnemaCrab@reddit
Honestly I think I've been at levels of pissed off where a little tinkle would actually be the lesser of two evils.
ursisterstoy@reddit
Are people following me? The other day someone looking for a coat in Wisconsin, today someone about the same distance East across Pennsylvania, I stopped a little short of that I-76.
FishermansPlatter@reddit
Another day another load, driver
barre9388@reddit
Will DOT put you out of service for this?
John9250@reddit
Oh that’s absolutely OOS. Roadside windshield repair is pretty much the only option
barre9388@reddit
Just bc it’s obstructing or what?
John9250@reddit
Well yeah that’s a good portion of the windshield that you can’t really see through. I mean PD will get you on that in your personal vehicle too. Basically overall illegal to drive with it like that
olenamerikkalainen@reddit
Depends on how bad and what state
John9250@reddit
I’m just using the OP as a basis. That’ll get you a ticket in anything really
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
Very sure they will, but even if they didn’t, it’s too risky to drive because if I hit like a pothole or something else decides to fly into my windshield, then it could cause the glass to shatter everywhere
barre9388@reddit
So what’s the solution then?
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
Sadly have to wait until someone can come and swap the glass pane. Could take a day or two, which means I have to sit until then. 😔
barre9388@reddit
Didn’t know that. I have a smaller one on the left bottom drivers side that cracked and splintered a few days ago. Much smaller than yours and off to the side… but Didn’t know how DOT would take that if I was pulled over.
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
If it is not obstructing your view and it is not a big crack like mine then you should be OK to drive. I would consult your fleet manager/driver leader if you are unsure.
OkUnderstanding1298@reddit
Fleet manager doesn’t know shit. Likely a 23 year old college grad
ScoobyD00BIEdoo@reddit
Thats... not how windshields work.

Thanks, I edited my comment

Some of these snowplow drivers are just as shitty of drivers as most of these 4 wheelers. I’ve seen a lot of them that have zero commonsense. Anytime you see a plow on the road,be very cautious.
Rat_King1972@reddit
Down south I’ve never seen a snowplow in my whole life. We do have tractors that mow the grass in the medians and shoulders like 7 months out of the year. I’m gonna assume it’s like that.
Leto_ll@reddit
If they mowed the traffic lanes it'd be pretty much the same.. Does your mailbox get mowed sometimes? Cuz that's definitely a snow belt thing too.
Rat_King1972@reddit
No they just do freeways where it’s clear cut allowing tall grasses to grow. I assume it’s to help stop wildlife collisions.
AutumnBrooks2021@reddit
I saw a snow plow driver pull into the median to flip around and go the opposite direction. At first he stopped and I had a truck in front of me, about 10 truck lengths ahead of me and we weren’t going fast bc the road was snow covered and that idiot plow truck pulled right out in front of that truck in front of me and that other truck driver just about lost control and hit the plow driver. That was one of the scariest things I’ve seen out here and thankfully the other truck driver didn’t wreck but it was like another couple of seconds and it would’ve been a major wreck. That’s why I always stay away from those plow trucks bc they focus too much on what they’re doing and not enough on watching traffic and paying attention to what’s going on around them. I’m not surprised that the plow driver was plowing too fast and slinging ice and snow because I’ve seen them do that a few times as well. Not all plow drivers are bad but there’s some that shouldn’t be driving.
John9250@reddit
I had a situation similar to that on 80 oddly enough lol. Except it wasn’t in the snow with a snow plow. I was on 80 westbound in Jersey with a truck in front of me just cruising, when an NJ trooper stopped completely in the middle of traffic to move a piece of debris off the road. The flatbed in front of me locked up and almost smoked the cop and his car. Just absolutely ridiculous and one of the thousands of reasons I refuse to go to the northeast anymore
AutumnBrooks2021@reddit
Lmao. Yea unfortunately the northeast and east coast has a lot of crazy drivers, police included. Add a little rain or light snow and the shit show starts lol.
About a month ago I was on a hwy headed up toward Dayton so I could jump on 70 and head west toward Indiana from West Virginia and I was passing another truck and we come up over this hill and at the bottom of the hill, a pickup truck pulling a flat utility trailer had lost all his lumber that he had piled up on the trailer with no straps and we both just locked it up, you should’ve seen the look on that guy’s face when he saw two trucks coming at him while he stood in the middle of the road. It was like a deer caught in the headlights, he didn’t know what to do. We both missed him at the last second. It’s crazy out here, I think Im going to retire next year and find something else to do besides driving. It’s been a crazy ride but I think I’ve seen enough crazy to last me a lifetime.
John9250@reddit
You ever seen those dipshits swing out into the road in front of people? Yeah it’s like that
Rat_King1972@reddit
Sounds fun with less grip too!
John9250@reddit
lol yeah they’re fucking reckless
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
The worst part about this is that it felt like there was nothing I could do except slow down significantly maybe, but even doing this is risky with traffic behind me on a 70 MPH interstate in icy conditions. There was no shoulder and I was in the right hand lane. Very frustrating. 😔
AutumnBrooks2021@reddit
You did all you could do. I’m sure you couldn’t see anything in front of you and it happened so fast that you had no time to react so all you can do is hold the steering wheel straight, hope you don’t hit anyone and slow down. Sorry that happened to you. Winter is the scariest time out here bc it’s not what you’re doing that you have to worry about, it’s all the other drivers that act like they don’t care. I’m glad it was just the windshield bc there’s been drivers that have been killed by ice going through their windshield.
Rusty08872@reddit
Luckily there's a Freightliner shop right there at x256
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
We’ll see if they take me anytime soon, that’s the big question. Still waiting on the Breakdown department to tell me where to go. 😔
Rusty08872@reddit
That sucks. Just glad you're safe. That could have gone way worse.
graibeard@reddit
That sucks man. I had an owl fly into my windshield once at 2 in the morning. I had to pull off because i couldnt see. Had to be towed back to the company shop.
Rag3QuitnRob3rtGame@reddit
Same with me. I was headed to a DG in the dark and had an owl dive at me doing mach fuck and hit me hard enough to knock the Garmin off my mount. Still had to limp it to the store and then get towed to a shop
bimbeauxnegative@reddit
Hahaha holy shit. Poor owl.
OkUnderstanding1298@reddit
Better to be a company driver. When this shit happens it’s their problem
MoistDevelopment@reddit
Proper pre trip prevents this.
oasuke@reddit
Did you even read the OP? How the hell would a pre trip prevent a rock cracking his windshield?
MoistDevelopment@reddit
Are you familiar with jokes?
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
Having the ability to stop time or a genetic mutation to perform telekinesis also prevents this, thus my parents are to blame for not having better genes
John9250@reddit
I think you can file something against them because they’re not supposed to fling snow and debris into oncoming traffic. I’ve seen something similar to this but I’m not 100%
Waisted-Desert@reddit
If you have a dash cam, ask the state to reimburse you. There's zero reason for them to create a hazardous condition.
innocent_websurfer@reddit (OP)
Yep, I set up all my claims already. This really is completely unacceptable and is a major safety hazard, it baffles me that this is allowed…
AdventurousAbility30@reddit
That's crazy. I'm sorry you had to go through this. I'm so glad you weren't injured. What a mess
