That’s so funny, I had no idea he was associated with 7up. My mom LOVED Fido Dido and we had him on mugs and shirts and I think we even had a figurine?
This is a young Xennial type of thing. Even within our micro group, pop culture changes every 1-3 years. What is major for one of us is something that one of us has never seen or heard of.
I always get this guy mixed up with milo from the Descendents https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Descendents#/media/File:Descendents_-_Milo_Goes_to_College_cover.jpg
When I was studying abroad in Russia 20 years ago, he was everywhere. I had completely forgotten about him since he faded into obscurity sometime in the '90s.
My first actual memory was TV bumpers for Saturday morning cartoons. As an adult, I found more stuff I experienced retroactively, like the 7-Up campaign.
I remember my mom got me a pair of Fido Dido socks, telling me he’s the next big thing because she read about him in the New Yorker. I wore them maybe once.

Whst a throwback, the jingle immediately came back to me

I think he also appeared on CBS Saturday morning cartoon bumpers, possibly? Or am I thinking of something else?

You are absolutely right, the jingle immediately came back to me

I remember this guy, but struggling with the context. For some reason, Sprite is popping up in my mind. Does he have to do with pop?
CobraChickenNuggets@reddit
Close.
Fido Dido was the mascot for 7up before the change to Cool Spot.
They put Fido Dido on everything, and I remember other kids having shirts, boxer shorts, and hats with him on it.

mimebenetnasch02@reddit
is that question a serious question? lol
ZealousidealPound460@reddit
More “I had no idea he had a name until I read your comment” admission… than a question

Can I just skip from 2D to a 4th dimensional being? Incubus said there are perils in 3D…

Yeah, well Marcy Playground said there was Sex and Candy, but here I am alone with carrots and hummus. We all make sacrifices.

at thanksgiving, i served spaghetti with the 40yo fido dido in mom’s kitchen.
it took a lot of rewrites to not say with mom’s fido dido.

Kind of surprised no one in this thread has mentioned Pepper Ann yet.
_chainsodomy_@reddit
Does anyone know the origin of his name? Where does it come from?
Thanks_Obama@reddit (OP)
Was Fido Dido a separate entity that existed outside of 7-Up like Michael Jackson X Pepsi or was he purely a creation of 7-Up?
