Happened to my partner over a prolonged period of time (6 weeks) and was taken seriously and followed up with a visit to the man! Was around the Sarah Everard (sp) case, so believe there was a heightened awareness around women’s safety.

I don't know why you'd be afraid about that. If this has happened more than once to the OP in his entire life I'd be surprised. It will happen regularly to women regardless of what they're wearing, but especially if they are in workout gear. This whole post is from someone who wants to draw an "its unfair" equivalence between men and women, but there isn't an equivalence here.

The fact that you cannot just make a decision on whether you feel the matter is reportable or not is the issue. From that inability to make a decision I would have to assume you are a child, in which case you should report as adults making such comments to a child is wrong. However you also state that you were shifting work gear in your van so I must then assume you are an adult. But you are an adult who doesn't seem to be able to recognise if something is a problem and also cannot make a decision on what to do about it. Ask yourself "have I suffered mental, emotional or physical harm as a result of \*\*\* action?". If the answer is yes, then it is worthy of being reported. If the answer is no then just get on with your life.

Is it a police matter: yes Will they do anything about it: almost certainly not If they do anything will they actually prosecute or take action against the perpetrators: almost certainly not, successful prosecutions for most types of sex crime are virtually zero. Pretty much your only chance of getting anything done is if one of these two women is trans - then there's a whole network of vocal and wealthy campaigners who will likely take up your case and yell about it until something gets done - especially if you are a woman yourself, you haven't specified here - but otherwise you're out of luck.

Im so sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately, catcalling isn’t usually taken seriously by the authorities. This is absolutely sexual harassment and no one should have to experience it, ESPECIALLY when they’re working. If I were in your position, I’d make a complaint to the gym but I probably wouldn’t go to the police unless I felt they were being threatening. However, it’s completely up to you.

stuff like this will practically be ignored by police. unless this becomes a frequent thing, that's when it steps into the territory of harassment that the police may care enough to investigate. a one-time thing will probably not lead to them investigating. you can report it to the gym if you'd like. they might do something about it if they get more reports about similar incidents. sorry this happened to you
