I have one of those heated airer things from Lakeland, it’s an absolute wonder in the winter…

I absolutely love my drysoon from lakeland, its been an absolute godsend. Great for humidity loving house plants too!

Yeah, they are advertising the product for free, as in, not being paid by Lakeland to do so 😊

Plot twist - I own Lakeland.

Same here and we got a cover for it as well. Works like magic!
View on Reddit #72575525

MotherEastern3051@reddit

I was surprised by how much difference the cover makes. They work so well.
View on Reddit #72575993

Fit_Section1002@reddit

I mean, I’d say that the cover is essential enough that it is BS they sell it as an optional accessory…
View on Reddit #72587290

I'm a cheapskate and just drape a sheet over mine. I've had it for years and don't remember a cover being an option.

Link please? We got one and it was useless but not from Lakeland off Amazon

View on Reddit #72587375

Serious_Escape_5438@reddit

Mine is also useless, I just don't turn it on anymore, all it did was heat strips of the clothes.
View on Reddit #72576711

Gallusbizzim@reddit

Chuck a sheet over it to trap the heat.
View on Reddit #72576910

Serious_Escape_5438@reddit

A sheet would trail on the floor I think. And that's just giving me something else to wash and put away, if I'm not washing sheets already.
View on Reddit #72577015

herwiththepurplehair@reddit

Get the cover for it. Makes a world of difference. Also, hang your clothes on coat hangers then hang them off the rails. If you’re using the cover, the heat circulates round the clothes and they dry a lot quicker
View on Reddit #72577387

Serious_Escape_5438@reddit

I don't have the Lakeland one, no cover available, it's a different shape and too low for hangers. I just put things on hangers and hang from curtain rails etc. It's fine, I have my methods now and don't really want a bigger one.
View on Reddit #72577497

herwiththepurplehair@reddit

Well hopefully my suggestion does help others, I did think it was a bit naff to begin with but trial and error helped. It’s a pity it doesn’t come with an instruction leaflet.
View on Reddit #72579538

Serious_Escape_5438@reddit

No, of course sorry, didn't mean to be rude. We do have a dryer so hanging is for more delicate things and obviously to save electricity.
View on Reddit #72579860

herwiththepurplehair@reddit

No it’s ok I didn’t take it as rude! I do get where you’re coming from, it might help other folk get that 💡 moment! We do still have a tumble dryer but to save electricity I only dry to v slightly damp, then it goes on the airer to finish drying. Less ironing that way too, I 🤬 loathe ironing!

I want to when it's sunny, but at about 8 degrees it is still too damp. So I keep it on the airer in the spare room and open my windows wide to let the air flow in that way.

Yes, 100% when not raining. Why not? I mean it's about 8 degrees outside with a decent breeze. It's far better than having all that moisture in the home (even with a dehumidifier)
View on Reddit #72576032

No-Sympathy-4103@reddit

Yeah same here, if it’s not raining, the washing goes outside and only has to go in the tumble for a short time, also agree that it makes the clothes smell better too!
View on Reddit #72618439

urbanworm@reddit

Totally agree. I put ours out as long as it’s dry, even a 10% drop in moisture means less time in the dryer, and I think it makes the washing smell better.
View on Reddit #72585000

Since I moved house it’s been an absolute game changer- this place is way less damp inside so I can line dry inside. I also have a hideous electric airing tent but I rarely use it.

View on Reddit #72595935

yolo_snail@reddit

I don't put my washing out when it's warm and sunny! I absolutely cannot stand the feeling of clothes dried outside, I prefer the softness of a tumble tried clothes. Plus, if I hang them outside, there's a non-zero chance there will be spiders inside, and from experience, that is worth avoiding!
View on Reddit #72594927

Maleficent-Win-6520@reddit

Too damp outside now for line drying
View on Reddit #72585829

insertitherenow@reddit

Yeah. It’s out today. Takes the edge off and then in the dryer if it’s still damp.
View on Reddit #72585277

Scarred_fish@reddit

Of course. Temperature makes minimal difference, humidity is what matters. Clothes dry much quicker on a dry cool day than a hot humid one.
View on Reddit #72584829

jimmywhereareya@reddit

It's too damp to hang washing outside
View on Reddit #72584817

ProfessorYaffle1@reddit

Yes, when I can. I like that it gets to air out and although it may not get completely dry, it also means that I can have larger things outside on the line, initially, where they don't get creased, and spread things out more on the airers inside, so they dry faster Obvisouly it depends on the weather but, for instnance, I had mu beddings and towels out on Saturday, when it was breezy and sunny where I am. The duvet cover is heavy cotton and it and the pillow cases were still damp when I brought them in, but the sheets (thinner) and towels were all completely dry. Since I have a combi boiler I no longer have an airing cupboard, and I don't have a tumble dryer, so puttign stuff outside salso means that I can limit how much damp washing I have indoors at any given time.
View on Reddit #72581824

Katharinemaddison@reddit

No I live in north wales. But it’s barely cold enough for the heating to come on (we only have it set to 16-17) and far from cold enough for a fire so stuff takes a couple of days to dry. (No mold issues but the house is… very well ventilated).

View on Reddit #72581213

GnaphaliumUliginosum@reddit

Yes, have a covered outside line, dries well when there's a bit of a breeze, even in the rain. Give it a final boost on an airer indoors overnight for things like towels and trousers that hang onto the damp a bit more.
View on Reddit #72581174

Retractable 5x clothesline thing just above my back door. It's never retracted 😂 Takes a day or two as it's a cold spot, but works fine and I can ignore rain.

View on Reddit #72580817

Imaginary_Garbage_47@reddit

Yes, sunny 10° and a bit of a breeze here today. My washing has been out for the past two hours and is pretty dry already. I find putting washing on an extra spin after the cycle has finished to get a food head start works well. I'll dry all year round if it's sunny and dry.
View on Reddit #72580483

redunculuspanda@reddit

I got a heat pump tumble dryer that costs something like 20p to dry a load of washing, no more line dying unless its something like a massive rug.
View on Reddit #72575729

glitterfare@reddit

I have one of these too! They're a godsend. I do like to put things on the line to start them off if it's not raining, but more often than not recently they just go straight into the dryer.
View on Reddit #72580088

Sea-Still5427@reddit

I do, as long as it's not raining, as I don't have a tumble dryer. They don't dry completely but even 20% drier is less moisture adding condensation indoors.
View on Reddit #72579587

terryjuicelawson@reddit

Most stuff is in the dryer now, just the thin, stretchy or wool type things that can air dry inside go on hangars in a window or near a radiator as they come out almost dry as it is. I'm not going out there in the cold trying to dry things, it would take all day and probably keep needing to dodge the rain.

View on Reddit #72578273

ccccaaaassssssss@reddit

If I get it out early enough on a sunny day, definitely. May have to move it around halfway through the day to ensure it dries but I definitely still try as I have a small house and hate bringing out the airer.
View on Reddit #72578037

Second_Guess_25@reddit

No. I live in Scotland. Hanging my clothes outside would achieve nothing at this time of year. Purchased a large dehumidifier and it sits next to my airer to dry my clothes in a few hours 👍. Best money spent in ages.

Our lines are covered and there has been bursts of sunshine so yeah, still flinging some stuff out. Some things are too good to go in the dryer - even though it's a new fandangled heat pump jobby but I've ruined too many things in the past so I'll just auto-swerve

Heated ones are an absolute waste of money and time. Invest in a dehumidifier instead. Put the washing in the bathroom with the dehumidifier and it’ll be dry in less than an hour.
View on Reddit #72575945

Our dehumidifier takes 4 hours to dry our bathmat and shower curtain lol - no way it's drying a load of washing in an hour.

Lucky enough to have a big barn where our washing line is hung. So it doesn’t matter if it rains!! It can stay a bit damp though so it will come on and be folded on top of the Aga. Do have a drier but try not to use it as it chews up electricity

I’m in central London so I never hang my clothes outside anyway - everything is dried on airers with a dehumidifier running so I don’t mould up the house.
View on Reddit #72576123

insight1984@reddit

I still do, but usually need to finish it off in the dryer. On a dry, breezy day I can get most things 70% dry (jumpers/towels etc) but some sports wear I can get fully dry. I also think it is good to get fresh air on clothes if possible. On grey, damp or rainy days, the decision is out of my hands - straight in the dryer
View on Reddit #72576072

View on Reddit #72575918

Yep, as long as the ground is dry then the washing goes out no matter the temperature. Even if it doesn't dry, it then only takes a few hours on the airer and it smells so much nicer than if it's just been indoors. I have a tumble drier for emergencies but only really use it to soften towels after they've been on the line.
