Are we now the "them" in the phrase "It's 6 feet of bubblegum for you ... not them!" or is Bubble Tape still for us?

Anyone become a gym teacher that irons their underwear?
Dizzy-Ad1673@reddit
Not now I’m busy chasing the Trix Rabbit down.

Remember when we where kids and could see the different shapes? But now they all just look like colored spheres.
jaymoney1@reddit
I will never be the "them" as long as I am paying for it
trainwreckhappening@reddit
Bubble tape was never for anyone.

Your dad's never been to a heavy metal concert, he likes lima beans, dances the polka!
Shirkaday@reddit (OP)
Hmm, I've been to a metal concert, lima beans are OK ... wouldn't say I "like" them, but they're not terrible or anything, and I actually can polka (grew up in Wisconsin) but it's not like I go around doing that all the time ... I might be them!

I can’t remember if it was bubble tape or fruit stripe gum that if you chewed it too long it would fall apart, losing any gumminess it had.
PuzzleheadedAbies678@reddit
I miss fruit stripe gum and being able to chew it with the wrapper still on it.
Fabulous-South-9551@reddit
I feel like if you have the bubble tape, you are always you. You will never be them.
BigPoppaStrahd@reddit
I’m positive it gives me indigestion if I chewed it
14thLizardQueen@reddit
I know I can't
m0h3k4n@reddit
I dunno, but a brother and sister were playing with my kid at a play place and the brother had a roll. He accidentally yeeted it across the room somehow (seemed a bit special). The roll of gum came out and rolled across the floor. His sister picked it up and started munching on it. They fought over it a bit and it ended up back in the case.
THAT bubblegum is definitely for THEM.

Can you smile, swim, and rap? Because your principal can’t, and that’s what made him unworthy.
Shirkaday@reddit (OP)
Almost - I can smile, but definitely cannot swim or rap.
ScreenTricky4257@reddit
It depends. Have you ever been to a heavy metal concert?
Shirkaday@reddit (OP)
I have, yes!
ihatecatboys@reddit
I wouldn't know, I'm too busy trying to ground all these kids who are eating pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, and even pizza at fucking suppertime.
WLH7M@reddit
Yes. Grandfather clause
OrthodoxAnarchoMom@reddit
I can’t see the Trix shapes anymore so I think we’re them now.
SaltyAir-StarrySkies@reddit
I chewed a whole tape at once and then puked everywhere. I prefer mints over gum, which I guess proves my old age.
IceSmiley@reddit
I think so since "them" refers to the same people now but they are elderly
Shirkaday@reddit (OP)
Ah yes I think you are right! Us & them never changed...
MrsSpookyMulder47@reddit
Bubble tape will always be for us.
CokBlockinWinger@reddit
No way Jose
crazycatlady331@reddit
I never liked bubblegum flavor then. Highly doubt I'd like it now.
I can't remember the last time I chewed gum.
BlackieDad@reddit
I hate gum
dunnkw@reddit
Yeah ever since I started serving mashed potatoes with an ice cream scoop
Not_So_Bad_Andy@reddit
I can’t see why kids love cinnamon toast crunch.
Illustrious-Lead-960@reddit
It’s very simple!

I don’t trust that barber: just tell me none of us are him.
theoryofgames@reddit
As long as you hold the divine spirit of Bubble Tape in your heart, you will always be one of us.
caramelpupcorn@reddit
Now that I understand dental care, there is no way in hell I'm chewing sugary bubble gum.
I'm officially not in the bubble tape demographic anymore.
Mike__O@reddit
Very much so. And Trix isn't for us either
Indubitalist@reddit
My kids were just having some of that this weekend and that hadn’t occurred to me but I thankfully don’t fit the character of the “old people” in the commercials.
Natural-Ad-3666@reddit
I just don’t understand why these damn kids love applejacks so much when they don’t even taste like apples.
