In absolute tears with RAM prices

Hi guys,
So I made a post about my motherboard dying about 2 weeks ago, the problem was my motherboard isnt sold new anymore and I wasnt comfortable buying it second hand.
So I've spent the past 2 weeks selling parts from my old pc to build funds to upgrade to a modern platform (buying cpu, motherboard and selling my old parts).
Anyway comes to this week the only thing I need is Ram, it was £100-120 at the start of the week in the UK for a 32gb kit please tell me why its now double that. I cant afford £200 ram and I need this PC for my Uni work (which conveniently is on AI 🙃) I'm so lost and broken, I just hope someone sells some second hand ram for cheap as I just have no choice.
What is actually going on? Can we expect it to come down soon? Or am I going to have to bite the bullet on mega expensive ram?
Thanks, Owen

Check Vinted or eBay for ram. I got 32GB DDR4 for £90 4 days ago.

Vinted looks sketchy lol

Ddr4 is cheap. Ddr5 which almost all builds are using now is outrageous.

All the more reason to stay with my AM4 right for the foreseeable. 😁

That doesnt help OP that already has a am5 board.

I feel that buying my 32gb DDR5 5 days ago for 220$ will be considered bargain after one more month. It’s crazy.

Gonna have to bite the bullet if you need a pc, in like the next year or so.
Pretty much everyone is saying that prices won't come down for at least a year. It might even get worse, or go on for longer. This may well be the new normal (unless AI suddenly drops in relevancy a lot and the companies like OpenAI that bought all the memory in the world go out of business, lol).

Prices will not fall anytime soon. 40% of production facilities are leased until the end of 2026. Data centers have also begun switching to new RAM.
I don't remember who exactly, but one large company said that the purchase price had increased by 500%(for the store itself).
The memory that is currently being offered to you for £200 is old store stock that was purchased at the old price. Soon it will be £300.
If you think I'm wrong, in the US, RAM starts at $300. In other countries, it starts at $350-400. And people are buying it up.

Bite the bullet if you need it. This is likely to last a while.
If it makes you feel any better there is zero chance that beginning of this week the RAM was actually available for 100 pounds. Must have been a misprice, an out of stock listing or a delivery date half a year from now.

ai data centers bought all the ram and no you should not expect prices to come down for at least a year if not more
