I had an idea what it was but only because my mum, born in 1961, used to say it to me all the time. She saw it because she had much younger brothers who watched it in the 70s. I don't remember seeing it on Sesame Street ever.

A sticker of butter is not a stick of butter regardless of size. A stick of butter is 1/2 cup or 8 tablespoons. What is pictured is a block of butter which is 2 cups or 4 sticks.
