What's it going to do? Shoot a hellfire missile at it? Hope that it happens to approach from an angle where machine gunner can try to shoot it down? And what about the 10 potential other drones closing in?
Which is interesting, personally I've only seen training missiles with the appropriate mix of blue and yellow bands. What's the purpose of this? Some kind of display only thing? Why isn't it painted with blue bands?
Yup,it seems like the AGM-114L Hellfire Lingbow since it doesn't have the transparent head which houses the SALH seeker. Covered head means it has a mmW radar seeker, didn't know the LDAP could carry missiles designed primarily in conjunction with the Lingbow radar of the Apache-D
One of the guys I talk with frequently at the dog park flew with them for many many years. Lost his lower leg and flight status in crash in Afghanistan. Gave me one of his challenge coins.
The UH60s he said we're fun, but his favorite was a fully equipped Little Bird (MH6).
This is a Black Hawk made for the United Arab Emirates Air Force and it was unveiled 3 years ago in the Dubai air show. You can find the original video in YouTube.
It is very different from a DAP, those can only be sold to the US Army according to legislation.
It because it’s extremely heavy bro. Normal UH-60s are about 14 thousand lbs dry-this beast is like closer to 18 or 20 fully loaded with guns, ammo, fuel and soldiers lol
Been 30 years, but I believe we filled them to 50 psi with nitrogen.
Also with a full combat load in this configuration plus carrying its own FARP ( 8-12 additional hellfires, and rounds for the mini guns) they have to do a rolling takeoff, well with the GE-T700's they did, not sure if the 701's overcame this need.
701s gave some additional power but you can’t use it with out the improved flight controls, transmission and airframe strengthening. Then the Mike came around and added a ton of extra weight. MH’s use some new hotness that are more powerful than 701s
Dry nitrogen keeps out moisture, protects against corrosion via oxidation of the rubber, promotes consistent pressures across wider temperature ranges, and is not flammable.
Also remains at nearly the same pressure regardless of altitude, well altitude that Hawks work at, not sure if it is the same for aircraft that track 40k ft
It’s called "DAP" (Direct Action Penetrator), only a small number exist and they belong to the 160th. I’ve seen them live in action, it’s incredible, the pilots are the best in the world
I actually think this could be a “Battlehawk” owned by the UAE looking at the background. They bought the arming kits when they bought UH-60M. Sikorsky was trying to offer it for a while, including an option of a 20mm (iirc) turret under the nose.
This is the answer. The m134 shoots 4000 or 6000 per minute. Catching and keeping that much brass and links, as others have suggested, is not feasible. This tube routes the expended brass and links under the fuselage so that there's no chance of it getting circulated by the rotor wash and damaging the helicopter. This is really only a concern when closer to ground/roof tops but must still be addressed.

Missles + Minigun = VERY bad idea. Those missles = VERY limited field of fire.
phozze@reddit
Better hope no one has MANPADS.
jeb_hoge@reddit
The flares and dazzlers are going to do a lot to mitigate that threat.
phozze@reddit
Let's hope no one has an fpv drone then.
Illustrious_Crab1060@reddit
it's extremely hard to hit a helicopter with an FPV drone due to the whole down wash thing
joshman211@reddit
Ukraine has managed to do it a few times now.
NotAlpharious-Honest@reddit
Again, the FPV drone better hope this doesn't see it first.

NotAlpharious-Honest@reddit
Well, yes.
FPV operators tend to disappear when you hit them with ATGM.
Oh, and you'll be shocked to learn that helicopters don't operate solo.
Animal__Mother_@reddit

Are the yellow rings indicative of live warheads? If so, why does this appear to be an airshow dispay?
le_suck@reddit
they all have an "Inert" stencil between the yellow rings.

Which is interesting, personally I've only seen training missiles with the appropriate mix of blue and yellow bands. What's the purpose of this? Some kind of display only thing? Why isn't it painted with blue bands?

redwingfan01@reddit
Also live hellfires have a clear nose lens. Easiest way to tell if you can see the stencil

MH uses the YT-706 which was never “fully” Army qualified so is not used outside of SOAD.

Much more stable across a wide range of temperatures, meaning the pressure won’t fluctuate wildly. Plus helps with corrosion.

redwingfan01@reddit
50 cal, don't remember the model number. The m134 is 7.62mm.
M134 for troops, 50 for up armored vehicles and concrete walls, hellfire for full armor or precision strikes at distance.
If we saw the RH side it should have a 19 round 2.75 inch rocket pod in place of the Hellfire rack
