Need to upgrade to watch 4k YouTube

I bought a 4k 32” monitor but my PC isn’t powerful enough to watch 4k YouTube. I currently have a i7-6700k, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 980Ti. What’s the cheapest upgrades can I get to watch YouTube in 4k? I only play text based games like FM26 and EU V.

When u say it's not powerful enough, do u lag? From my experience when I had a Q8400 and 1080ti, I couldn't watch YouTube above 1080p or 1440p or else it would lag alot. I couldn't even watch 4k videos stored locally on my PC cuz the performance was that bad. I upgraded to a 7950x3d, 8gb ram to 32 GB, but kept the same 1080ti. But now I am able to watch 4k videos with no performance issue. I'm not entirely sure why a cpu would help in 4k videos vs a GPU. On your PC, you can try turning on and off hardware acceleration, see if that helps.

The YouTube video lags and 4k local video does too. So you think a 1080ti will help?
