Gone (or going) but not forgotten. I've been lucky to get up close to some iconic aircraft not long for this world.

2 bladed Cobras. Badass.

What's the military md-11 / dc-10 looking plane?
critical_patch@reddit
KC-10 Extenser
morningdews123@reddit
Thank you

Here’s a view from the ARO of an F-117 that I took a few years ago. The KC-10 was such an incredible aircraft and I’m insanely lucky that I got to crew it.

Very cool!
treefiddymp@reddit
Rare treat to see!

I guess the S-3 really is forgotten
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
That's one I regrettably never got.
OperaGrrl71@reddit
The S-3s...as a young Airman, I've seen those squadrons in North Island.
A few of the Air Bosses I served under were S-3 drivers.
DadKnightBegins@reddit
I know it’s not a fighter and supposedly the noisiest plane ever on a carrier, but I’ve always loved the EA-6B Prowler.
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
The noise was the biggest shock. I has been near Hornets, Super Hornets, F-16s and F-15s, the Prowler was definitely equal.
OperaGrrl71@reddit
I've launched the legacies, rhinos and Prowlers aka "Bad Kitty" while I was in the Navy; 2005-2013.
"Bad Kitty" was my nickname on the 76, with every launch. "Bad Kitty! Roger, Prowler five zero zero!". I received a few laughs from the V-2 office, where all hands listened to the launch radios.

79-1712 was one of the most reliable tails we had toward the end of the KC-10, and that’s such an awesome shot of it. I miss those jets every single day. Thanks for sharing!
ABoutDeSouffle@reddit
Yeah, come on, why is it only Western stuff in this sub?
Half of them aren't even remarkable.
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Well, I live in the U.S. so I take pictures locally. If that's your complaint, grab a camera and do something about it.

Is number 18 at the Expeditionary Airfield (EAF) at 29 Palms?
DadKnightBegins@reddit
I used to pull aggressor duty for the Marines at 29 palms! I was at Norton. Loved playing Miles gear with those young leather necks LOL! They would burn up those 60’s spray and praying hehe.
F_to_the_Third@reddit
MILES is quite a blast from the past as well as Norton! In August 1990, we flew into Norton to conduct a training exercise at 29 Palms. Saddam Hussein had invaded Kuwait a few days earlier. We spent less than 24 hours on the ground before flying back out from Norton. There was also a contingent of Rangers that were put on our flight out as well. Hard to believe that was 35+ years ago 😮
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Not too far off, it was a fly-in at the Lake Havasu airport.
F_to_the_Third@reddit
Thanks for clarifying! With the desert background 29 Palms was my first thought followed by Yuma.
curyfuryone@reddit
Anyone else notice….
“Abandon chute”
Funny how pilots need to be reminded of this.
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Hopefully they can read upside-down too.
Slow_Description_773@reddit
Oh man, I’ve buI’ll loads of Prowlers and Harriers !
wspaley@reddit
Love the 727 .. and the Harriers 👊🏻💯
BearFan34@reddit
They are all great photos but the first one is awesome
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Thanks! I was so excited to catch the VFA-122 CONA bird that day.
BearFan34@reddit
That’s a beautiful plane and another great shot
EmotioneelKlootzak@reddit
I don't think the Chinook is going to be retired. Possibly ever, but definitely not soon. Tiltrotors can't really do the same job as a heavy lift helicopter, so while most of the Army's rotary wing fleet is being replaced with the MV-75 (and probably the other branches' UH-60 variants as well, eventually), I really don't see the CH-47 going anywhere.
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
That's why did include the Chinook.
Excellent-Main-1768@reddit
Killer photo.
MechTrician504@reddit
Never knew they changed VFA-204’s paint scheme.
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
This was just a one off for CONA.
den40den@reddit
Thanks for sharing the amazing views! Did you fly any of these?
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Unfortunately no, the pilot dream never came true. Which is why I picked up a camera.
espike007@reddit
Nice shots Chris!
Whatever_Lurker@reddit
This is great. All my luck was that I flew multiple times in a commercial DC3 which was falling apart.
fresh_like_Oprah@reddit
great shots
ChevTecGroup@reddit
Hopefully that phantom will be back in the air shortly. And hopefully the starfighters end up with the dozen or so they bought from korea.
treefiddymp@reddit
You have a dream job..
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Hobby* lol. I wish I got paid to do this, it's quite the opposite though. Tbf though, this was all done with second hand equipment.
treefiddymp@reddit
🫡 Very very professional!
G-III-@reddit
The work they put in to get it clearly shows!
cpasley21@reddit (OP)
Thanks!

Absolutely, thank you for sharing!
