if you have an astigmatism this is 100% the move
WhoNoseMarchand@reddit
To go against the grain, I have an astigmatism (corrected with contacts) and tbh I hated my microprism SLX. I had it on a MP5 clone and hated the eye relief and eye box. Sold it and got a Holosun 515 which I love.
MessMysterious1442@reddit
Full size or K on the Mp5? I don't mind the eye relief or box currently on a lever action when the prism is up close but I am concerned with putting it on full size Mp5 with it being a bit more forward. Wonder if the Glx may be the bit better eye relief I need. Thanks for the info here
WhoNoseMarchand@reddit
I have the full size AP5. Ideally, you want something for quick target acquisition on a sub gun. That optic ain't it. Like you said, mounting as far forward is ideal. You can't do this and have good eye relief with this optic on a MP5. I had to use the included cantilever mount to bring it as close as possible to my eye to make it usable. Even then, the eye box can be limiting. On top of that, it looks ugly as hell on a MP5 having it mounted that way.
MessMysterious1442@reddit
Agreed. Thanks for the pov on this. Probably just stick with a Dot of some variety.

Right, just don’t try it with magnifier, will ruin entire set.
JimBridger_@reddit
They aren’t bad in front of a magnifier. It’s just a pain in the dick to get both focused up properly.
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Yeah, I thought so too, so got GLx 1x and then SLx 3x. Whatever I tried (move the SLx 3x as close as hair width to GLx 1x and then as far as couple of inches between them, as rail allows), the combination doesn't work for me when the magnifier is behind the prism: the sight and mark are all blurry and start to become crisp when eye moves way away from the eye box and at this point magnifier shadow takes over 70% of the picture, so it is not usable. It kind of works when the magnifier is in front of the prism, but picture is still a bit blurry and mark is not crisp too. The eye box is unforgiving and any deviation of an eye from the pair's centerline results in a complete loss of the sight picture.
However, looking through combo (prism in front of the magnifier) with the phone camera reveals that picture is acceptable and mark is visible, which leads me to believe that it's my astigmatism, that makes combo not working for me. This is quite ironic, as I've got GLx 1x prism exactly for this reason: to get clear picture even with astigmatism. It's even more ironic that this same magnifier makes otherwise less than pleasant red/gold dot sight mark pretty nice even without correction lenses and almost flawless with.

I’m glad you said something because I just unboxed and mounted my GLx 1x + SLx 3x for the first time yesterday, and after nearly two hours of fiddling with every configuration possible the best I could get with the magnifier flipped down was a crystal clear sight picture and the mark being blurry AF. I’m really bummed because I love the aesthetic of this combo and I thought it would be the winning move with my astigmatism. I wonder if PA will let me return them.
goodgamble@reddit
I had to turn one diopter all the way left and the other all the way right and then slowly work them together and it all worked out great
KiloS91@reddit
Did you try the diopter on the rear of the optic? It should make the reticle more clear.
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Mark looked like it’s been drawn by gel pen and then a huge blob of water put on top of it, so it’s all smudgy?
milquetoastmustache@reddit
Yeah it’s a smudgy mess and makes me feel cross eyed since the background picture is so clear. A part of me wants to try messing with it again because I feel like surely there has to be a way to make it work. Ugh what a waste of time
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Just take your phone camera to it. If it will show clear picture and your eye won’t, I’d stop messing with it and cut the losses: it’s an eye issue, not optics and no amount of fiddling will fix it. I’ll be using magnifier with red dot and sell the prism. Didn’t really like it in the first place
KiloS91@reddit
Did you know it has a diopter on the rear of the optic to adjust the clarity of the reticle?
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Did you actually read the comment? The crisp reticle in standalone prism means that I, probably tuned it already, so yeah, I pretty much aware of diopter setting, my good man, thank you very much. Same goes for magnifier, I’m aware of diopter there too, it is mentioned in the manual, you know
KiloS91@reddit
I did read the comment you said nothing about adjusting the diopter, hence the comment. Not a lot of people read the manual, so i was just like offering a suggestion man.
MikeGoldberg@reddit
I have heard the move with these is actually to put the magnifier in front
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Doesn’t really work. Also, as mentioned above, zero would be different with and without magnifier
Ambitious_Example518@reddit
Hmmm, I have an HM3X with my SLx 1x and it works wonderfully with my horrible astigmatism. Ymmv I guess?
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Yep, really varies. I’ve tried with PA 3x LER as well with the same results. I’ve seen that HMX3x is reported as working several times, so once the gafs will get GA, I’ll try to source one.
LVCSSlacker@reddit
Apparently, if you put the magnifier in front of the prism site, it works out great.
QuasisteIlar@reddit
Then you have to zero with and without the magnifier which is a pita
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Not really great, at least in my experience. The sight picture is not focused, the eye box is very narrow and any deviation (left/right/higher/lower) of an eye from center line leads to complete loss of picture.

Simmons' Sporting Goods Team has GLx 1x for 219 Shipped and No tax. $50 for an upgrade
MikeGoldberg@reddit
Isn't there mixed feelings on whether the glx is better than the slx though?
QuasisteIlar@reddit
I think it's hilarious those deals get shit posted with references to the SLX and saying the GLX at 220 is not a deal.
rmrfpoof@reddit
BIN price?
bloodcoffee@reddit
Yes IMO. I got a blem at this price over a year ago with a first responder discount on top to get it this low, back when they used to actually stack discounts.

Bought one and got the $150 SSA E trigger free shipping for both.
klutzup@reddit
Have 3 of their prisms. This one, the GLX 1x, and the 3x SLX (GLX WHEN?!), and I don’t know how you beat them for the money. I got mine off Simmons a couple months back for a steal. I have astigmatism so these have been awesome for me.
Wyno222@reddit
You need a GLx x2, it’s my favorite for CQB style rifles and braced pistols.
klutzup@reddit
That’s the next one I plan on trying!
LVCSSlacker@reddit
Simmons is also running a smoking deal on the glx 1x. I think it's like 50 bucks more than this.
klutzup@reddit
If you decide to buy it, just look outside and it’ll already be on your doorstep.
That’s how fast they went mine.
No I don’t work there 😂, but damn I appreciate fast shipping for my unboxing dopamine hits!
blank_dota2@reddit
Just a heads up, green is also on sale for the same price. I usually prefer green to red for my astigmatism although on prisms either color is far better than red dots for me.
