Cyber Monday Upgrade

Hey everyone, I’m finally deciding to upgrade my pc but need a second opinion on what upgrade would make the biggest difference for my setup.
Specs:
- CPU: i5-9600K
- GPU: RTX 3070 Ti
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 2133 MT/s
- PSU: Cooler Master V550
- Motherboard: Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming
- Storage: 1TB drive (almost full) but I was gifted a 2TB Seagate HDD I haven’t installed yet
I mainly use this PC to game, do schoolwork, and modeling on solid works. It runs fine, but I feel like some parts might be bottlenecking my 3070 Ti. I’m on a college budget, so I can only upgrade one thing at a time.
Any recommendations or upgrade order are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You have no real choice but to upgrade CPU/Board/Ram at the same time. With DDR5 prices the way they are you'll probably be waiting for a while.
A used i9 9900 / 9900k / 9900kf is a possible in-socket upgrade. It's fast enough for now, at least until the ram shortage subsides. But they can be expensive. If a used one pops up for $150 or something though, it's worth a go. Gives you 8c/16t VS. the 6c/6t on the 9600k, which is a pretty big change.

i have a very similar setup, z390 with 3080 12gb but i got the i9900kf.... i used to have that i5 also before i upgraded (stored on a shelf now).
that cpu is going to bottleneck u for sure. as it did with me.
Unfortunately you'll have to get a new mobo and new ram (if u go up to DDR5) and a new cpu... new build basically .. just to upgrade the CPU since 8th and 9th gen run on the z390
mine runs decent still with i9-9900kf and 3080.. prob be another year before i upgrade.
not worth upgrading ur ram to 32gb since ram prices are crazy rn

I’d say it’s time for a new MB, CPU and RAM.
Later I’d upgrade your GPU.
Your CPU is end of life (well, 10th gen is there but it won’t make much difference + old CPUs will be second hand / expensive).
