Anecdotal shingles vax

Since we all seem to like the anecdotes…
I got my second shingles vax yesterday (yay). 55 F, immune compromised.
The only side effects are a slightly sore arm and some ass kicking fatigue. The first one didn’t lay me out until the evening of the second day, so I’m optimistic that this is it!
The moral of the story is: get the shot!

Just got my 2nd shingles, covid, and pheumonia shots today. Bracing for the worse...

That’s the way I did it! Get it over with!

No shingles vaccine for me!
Never got chicken pox and got that vaccine when it came out. 😎

Got my first shot last week. I think I'm having side effects but it's the weekend.

I am more afraid of the $400 bill I am going to get than side effects. It should not be that expensive!!!

USA? Might be due to the same reasons shingrix is not recommended at our age in most other countries.

Polly want a cracker?
WE don't. The shills and bots lap it up like a dog who got into a steaming hot litter box, though.
Squark - better than shingles - better than shingles - squark - who's a good boy.

I got it a few weeks ago. Felt like crap for 24 hours the following day, slightly better the next day and my arm was sore for a few days. It is what it is. Next up - covid, flu and RSV.
logorrhea69@reddit
I just scheduled my second one today, and added the COVID vaccine. Knock on wood, but I haven’t had any reactions to the COVID shots and only had a sore arm with the first shingles shot so hope I’m won’t regret it!
Objective_Joke_5023@reddit
Slow your roll. The second one kicked my butt, but it didn’t start till 72 hours in.

Ugh! I’d hate to get bricked like that!
cl8855@reddit
Got it yesterday as well, freezing cold overnight with 4 blankets and super hot this am. Hope it passes tomorrow
Emunahd@reddit (OP)
I hope it passes soon also!

I am soooo afraid to get mine because of horror stories. But I know I need to.

I’m an RN and have seen two people hospitalized for the pain associated with a shingles outbreak. I feel like it has to be pretty awful to come to the hospital when all we can do is give you pain medication as treatment. So I got my shot as soon as it was available to me. It DID kick my butt for a solid day- don’t make plans the next day, for sure. But don’t keep putting it off if you are eligible.

My mom couldn't leave the house for 4 months because of the pain caused by something as simple as clothes touching her body.
I have definitely gotten my vaccines...as soon as I could.
Paralegal1995@reddit
Definitely eligible. 51. My PCP keeps telling me to. Glad to hear from an RN that it won't make me sick for a week like I have heard. Thank you.
LayerNo3634@reddit
I didn't have a single reaction. Not even a sore arm. Shingles horror stories are what convinced me to get it.
Paralegal1995@reddit
I know most people don't lol. I'm just a chicken with this shot. All others do not bother me
BlurryBigfoot74@reddit
I'm due for the second one soon. The first one wasn't bad at all. I've been lucky in that none of the flu shots or vaccines I've gotten since covid hasn't really bothered me at all.

Got mine this year.

First dose a few months back kicked my ass for 36 hours with full on body flu effects, fever and chills, massive headache, body aches...I called out from work for a day and spent in bed.
Got second dose this past Wednesday morning hoping would not be as bad but at least had Thanksgiving to recover if so... got similar response as first dose starting Weds evening and got uncontrollable shivering for about an hour that night. Slept until 11am Thanksgiving Day and was still feeling hangoverish until about 3 when I was able to eat.
No real pain or muscle soreness at the injection site either time tho
RedditSkippy@reddit
My first dose made me low for about 48 hours. My second dose was nothing more than a sore arm overnight.
mikecain366@reddit
Was fully prepared for a bad day after both first and second doses given experiences of friends/family. Had the sore arm and maybe a night of pseudo-feverishness after the first dose. Nothing else. Glad it’s done.
RSV got me about the same as first dose of shingles, fwiw.
Get the vax’s!

As someone who has an immune response to every vaccine I get, I was pleasantly surprised I didn't get wrecked by the first or second shingles vaccine. First shot I had a mild headache for a few hours and felt tired as well. Next day was fine. Second shot only had a mild headache for a few hours. Next day totally fine.
tatattooed@reddit
I just got mine yesterday too. (first one) I heard all the horror stories about the aftermath and I was nervous. My arm is definitely sore and I have felt a bit off all day, but nothing serious. "knocks wood"
Diligent_Use_1740@reddit
Got my first about 36 hours ago and not bad at all so far (fingers crossed). Sore arm, some minor muscle pain and fatigue, but nothing major. I was able to do a lot of Christmas decorating today, and I hadn’t really planned on being productive.
