The ebike/motos cosplaying as pedal bikes ripping thru bike paths then blasting 45mpg on roadways are the new modern day outlaw transport similar to motorcycles in the 60s/70s before they cracked down on those

Hell yeah they are and that's a good thing. People in the states have forgotten how to be free.

Were you ever really, though?

So glad the crack down on motorcycles stopped all those motorcycles riders and they aren’t a problem anymore! /s

No, just pay stupid insurance rates, or if mental horsepower is lower than Motorcycle BHP, take themselves out of the game entirely.
Moped's went from Cool to Nope, as soon as Insurance requirements were legislated.
Or, they could just straight up 'UK' us all.

I guess you missed the /s. It stands for sarcasm. That’s the point I was making. Regulating motorcycles didn’t stop them. Just like regulating e-bikes won’t stop them either. It will make it more difficult to ride legally.

I missed the /s, correct.
Regulation tends to cut down on hijinks overall. Prohibitive insurance rates tend to cut down on popularity. Prohibitive Legislation involving seizure of Property, money and time with a Courtroom and Lawyers, kills industries, just an all around buzz-kill.
The Quantity of Boneheads tends to go down, the Quality of the boneheads gets higher with 'outlaw' status, but tend to experience diminished returns, as they become a focused target for enforcement.
I've seen it all from the early 1970's, forwards. Mopeds, dirty bikes, motorcycles, gas powered bicycles, motorcycles again.. i've got a representative(s) of each era, in my own garage, in whole or in parts.
