Stealing from other people is one of our cherished… cultural values.
IAmHalfMEMEZ@reddit
I honestly thought that the us was the exception in not making monwy waterproof

lonefunman1@reddit
has anyone done money laundering joke yet?
Chad_dad_brad@reddit
Looks like they copied Canada
Lord-Amorodium@reddit
They actually did it before Canada! (Source, am Romanian who emigrated to Canada and saw all the money)
Chad_dad_brad@reddit
You’re right, Romania implemented it in 2005, Canada in 2011
Cefalopodul@reddit
Romania did it in 1998.
SoulEkko@reddit
The "Eclipse" bank notes from 1999 were a limited edition experimental thing. Admittedly, they were in circulation and they were cool, but not mass produced like those from 2005.
Nowadays they sell between 50-30 euro on the second hand market, depending on condition.
rustcohleforv@reddit
Where do they sell ? I have a bunch of them and would like to get rid of
i_hate_reddit1442@reddit
My dad has one of those
nefewel@reddit
We actually started issuing polymer bancnotes since 1999. Pretty sure it was Australia that did it first.
sinred7@reddit
Copying Australia you mean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer_banknote

Cogito_Ergo_Sum94@reddit
Try to burn it. Look if it goes on fire.
Physical_Stress_1671@reddit (OP)
I will maybe try
Warm_Interview1337@reddit
Our Lei might worth less than Euro, but at least we don't have a hearth attack if we forget our money in our pocket during laundry time.
Stverghame@reddit
Does the kid know thaz money laundering is illegal?
StraightShoulder7529@reddit
Jebi se.
Weekly-Ad434@reddit
I did that as a kid, never had problems after :)
nefewel@reddit

dothrakipls@reddit
These kids are missing out!
We used to print 2 lev 'bank notes' to buy snacks and bus tickets as kids - we'd just roll them in dirt and they'd seem real enough
One time we went to the pool, got our 'money' wet and the ink washed off... had to walk home, lol
AgelosSp@reddit
Well, they are plastic. I must say I personally don't like plastic money, I like feeling the paper since most transactions have become a tap of a plastic card now.
timbofay@reddit
Sorry to take away your national pride. But loads of countries use this material
IcePuzzleheaded7333@reddit
True, but we were the first in Europe and the second in the world after Australia. We use them since 1999.
sinred7@reddit
Copying Australia you mean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer_banknote
flowgert@reddit
That I know of, also in Albania we have a "plastic" bill. The 200 Lekë one
yasinij_@reddit

Djlas@reddit

PinotRed@reddit
Money laundering done right
vegancorr@reddit
We love plastic. We even mix plastic (bottles) with arable land. I heard nanoplastic is absorbed by plants and then ends up in the brain which is as of now 0.5% plastic by weight. More by volume?
Ecstatic_Honeydew172@reddit
Its hard to rip it off too
