These are carbon fiber rods. I’ve only ever bought a steel rod for my SiCO 762 LBP for my AKs, and typically never want to spend the money on alignment rods ever.

However, with free shipping, a free “dope” card when you add the rod to the cart and all at $25, I figured I might as well get a 5.56/.22 alignment rod. I ordered Wednesday and just got it today so shipping was really fast.

I'd bet most off the shelf wooden dowels @ .223 aren't going to seem perfectly straight if you were to give them a simple roll test

These work great. Though be warned a barrel manufacturer will blame the rod and claim it’s not accurate enough.

A micrometer calibrated by a standard tradable to NIST. Chuck the rod up and rotate it, and take the TIR reading at the other end of the rod.

I have three of these but they’re “blend”. Don’t have to worry about bent rods. No issues on the 5 guns I’ve used these on.

This is kinda dumb but I also actually liked the little plastic case it came in because it can fit my other alignment rod rather than having it roll around in my toolbox.
