How do I lodge a corporate complaint with DPD UK?
Posted by sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 29 comments
I'll start this off by saying I'm not one to complain but I'm going insane here, yes I've tried their live chat I can't get past the bot, I've phoned them but I just get the same spiel and no actual formal complaint lodged I'm looking for like a corporate email or something.
Essentially I live in a block of flats on the 8th floor, I'm physically disabled with intellectual difficulties too, I try to avoid DPD but I'm on an NHS right to choose service that requires my medication be sent via DPD, directly from the clinic pharmacy who I do not contact, i only speak to my prescriber and doctor, I have these prescriptions once per month. (Context because a lot of advice says contact the seller)
Multiple times I have been given my slot, gone down to the lobby a half hour early, waited there the whole time refreshing the tracking page and seeing the driver work through the queue, and about 2 stops before me I get a notification that they were unable to deliver because I didn't give them the PIN when they weren't here in the first place.
I have added delivery instructions, there's 24/7 reception on the building also confirming they haven't seen them, I specifically ask them to call me on arrival too they never do. Today I was outside the building for 45 minutes in the cold, in pain and lightheaded only for them to do it again and now tell me they can't deliver until Monday.
I can't keep playing this game it's causing me serious distress and I've had to cancel appointments, go days without medication, stay up for 48 hours in order to be awake two consecutive days without missing it. I do not have a full time carer (yet) I live alone, and because of pharmacy related substance rules I can't pick it up from anywhere or have a safe place. The concierge has offered to take my pin for me but dpd never actually show up to the desk anyway so it's useless.
Every time this happens I ring them immediately, they assure me it will never happen again bla bla and they're so sorry but they can't redeliver same day. I've never had the same driver twice so this is a widespread problem and my block has over 1000 flats in so I know they've delivered here before, the doors are automatic and always unlocked but regardless I'm always waiting either outside or in the completely glass lobby where I can see outside and they quite genuinely are just not showing up, the security have even checked all the way round the building for me they aren't round there either.
So I need to know who to contact, ideally in writing as I struggle with verbal communication, I can't find anything other than the chat I can't get through on and the phone lines I've already called online, any ideas?

DPD is the worst delivery service in the UK, they are unprofessional and have no respect for their customers.THEY ARE ALWAYS LATE WITH DELIVERIES, EVERY TIME A SELLER HAS USED DPD THE PRODUCTS ARE ALWAYS AT LEAST 2 OR 3 DAYS LATE AND THE WORST THING IS THAT THEY DON'T GIVE YOU INFORMATION, THEY DON'T ANSWER YOUR CALLS AND THEIR CHAT HAS AN ANSWERMENT SERVICE AUTOMATIC WHICH ONLY AND ALWAYS SAYS THE SAME 2 PHRASES, I ADVISE YOU WHEN YOU MAKE PURCHASES TO MAKE SURE THAT THE COURIER IS NOT DPD

I found this email address online - Address for complaints at DPD is
complaints@dpdgroup.co.uk
Advice re. Contacting the seller online is usually correct though. Even though it’s DPDs incompetence, they often tell you to let the sender know as it’s also their responsibility to ensure your parcel is delivered to you. How can they rectify the issue if they aren’t made aware? How many other people like you, are having the same issue receiving important meds?
Have you tried getting advice via the DPD Reddit page too?

I am sorry to hear about your situation OP. I am similarly at wit’s end with DPD. Before I email the CEO, can I know if anything ever came of your complaint?
IlIIIllIIlIlllII@reddit
This email does work but it will take a few days. Wether or not they actually do anything or just tell you they will is the mystery
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
I'm not on Facebook but like I said I can't contact the pharmacy I don't even know they're name they're like a clinician pharmacy not patient facing I can only contact my doctors but they don't choose who the pharmacy uses to ship. I don't understand what they can do anyway if the problem is the driver physically not showing up doesn't dpd need to fix that not the pharmacy the drivers work for dpd?

Sounds like ADHD meds? I'm with PUK and my GP accepted shared care so once titration was done I didn't have to faff around with DPD anymore, thank goodness! I'm afraid you do have to tell the shared care company about the problem. You don't have to tell your prescriber, you can tell the admin instead. If it is PUK then you can leave a note specifically for the admin, and the sooner the better too because I had my annual review recently and I noted they said messages would take a really long time to be seen. The reason you have to tell the shared care company is they are the customer, not you, so they are the only ones DPD have to listen to. I know it's super frustrating but that's what the law says.
Alternatively you could investigate the idea of them sending you a paper prescription for you to take to the pharmacy of your choice, which I know is a service PUK offer, but I'm not sure if they still class that as an NHS prescription or if they'd say it's a private prescription which you'd have to pay for. I saw you said you don't have Facebook, but if getting a paper prescription would be a viable option for you I can ask in a Facebook group for right to choose people on your behalf, if you want.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
It is PUK yeah and they do class it as private if you get a paper prescription which obviously i cant afford, i am on disability because this isnt my only condition/medication.
Currently my messages get answered pretty fast cos I'm in titration but I will let them know—I guess I didn't think it was their problem that the bloody drivers can't find a giant tower block 💀 I'll take any help i can get I'm not joking when I say I genuinely passed out/fainted and I've just come to because I got that stressed.
So do I literally just tell the admin on my portal that the delivery drivers have not been showing up to my property first time and it takes multiple redelivery attempts? Apologies if this sounds stupid I've got....a lot going on rn.
anti-sugar_dependant@reddit
Yeah, tell them what you wrote in your post but leave out anything about giving your PIN to anyone else, because they won't like that.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
Oh yeah I know haha 😅 I wouldn't have considered it if it wasn't so goddamn difficult and painful to do this. But thank you!
madameniamh@reddit
I’m with PUK too, I’ve emailed reception@privatepharmacygroup.co.uk to get straight to the pharmacy about DPD issues before. They’re very helpful.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
Oh thank you I had no idea how to contact the pharmacy at all, I'll send them an email 😊

Who is the customer of DPD?
Usually, the delivery is responsibility of the seller (assuming you are purchasing something), so the contract DPD has is with them.
Encourage the seller to fight your corner.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
Well I'm not purchasing from a seller per se it's a pharmacy and they send my medication for free because its NHS
windy_on_the_hill@reddit
In theory, the Pharmacy have failed to supply your medicine.
I would suggest complaining to them, as well as DPD.
Given this is national health territory, you might also find it suitable to go to your MP. This is not a simple "boo hoo, my package didn't arrive", this is a failure in your health care.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
Thank you
osterlay@reddit
I admit I haven’t read your message in full as it’s too long, but you need to file an internal complaint first.
If you file a complaint directly to their regulator (not sure which ombudsman it is), you’ll most likely be bounced back to them to give them the chance to address and resolve your complaint first.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
What do you mean internal complaint, to who?
osterlay@reddit
Every company/organization has its own internal complaints procedure. By internal complaints, I should have clarified that you should file one with them, the DPD.
If their response is not satisfactory, you are entitled to escalate it to the relevant ombudsman..
WebGuyUK@reddit
The problem is you are not DPD's customer so you will always be pushed around, it's only when the actual customer complains that change can happen, you need to contact the clinic that are sending the delivery and get them to raise a complaint on your behalf, DPD will listen because they will be spending thousands a year and are dealing with medications which will get bums twitching at the local depot.
The CEO's email is elaine.kerr@dpdgroup.co.uk for you to try and get a complaint sorted from your end, it will be passed to a team below Elaine but it normally gets things moving quickly.
sadlonesomethrowaway@reddit (OP)
Thank you I will do both of those things
