NH kid here. 100% agree with this. When everything in your state closes before 10 except Bickfords and Denny’s there isn’t much else to do but grab some pallets from behind Toys R’ Us and Home Depot get someone to grab booze and live life to the fullest in a clearing by the river or if you’re lucky back acres of a relatives farm in a corn field.

I admit NH’s upside-down twin definitely was and is far more rural than our southern half. My buddy and broke down outside of Jericho when I was 17 at like 10 at night and there wasn’t anything around for us to tell AAA where we were. The tow guy looked like we woke him up and was pissy. We ended up staying the night at some shabby motel where people lived and smelled like chlorine and cigarettes. I grew up in one of the “Big” cities in NH so we got to do stuff until 9-9:30. We had a club that on Friday and Saturday had 18+ nights where you walked around with giant X’s on your hand and were roped off from all the 21+ people having fun. Then we were promptly booted at like 11:30.

About 20 years ago when we were all in our twenties drinking, a girl I didn’t know gets in her car and pulls out onto the road - right into a cop car. We all thought she was in deep shit, but the cop gets out and instead of hailing her away for a DUI seems to be tearing it like a normal accident. She must have lived close by because within a few minutes her dad (who I presumed to be an off duty cop or friend of the officer) shows up to bring her home. We were all dumbfounded. Anyone else that was there drinking would have been out in the back of the cop car.

During the spring of my senior year some friends discovered a spot in a little forested area in the suburb I grew up in that was protected by trees and within walking distance of where most of lived, so we started having parties there every Friday night. It was great for 4 or 5 weeks in a row. Then, the one Friday I wasn't able to make it, everyone was partying when 5+ cops closed in from every direction and busted everyone.

I had so many close calls like that as a teenager.

The Woods? I wish! I grew up in Kansas where we had Pasture Parties. It was usually several smaller fires since a decent bonfire was visible all the way to the sheriff's station for 15 miles in any direction!

Don't get me started on in navigating the 1 mile by 1 mile dirt road grid at night... with beer...at 80 mph. Don't forget to turn out your headlights at the intersections to make sure nobody is coming so you can blow the stop sign...unless somebody is coming... (Most often it was the side of a moving train at an unmarked crossing)
